I woke up this morning, stayed in bed for a little while, and then suddenly the beginning of this conversation drifted into my head and proceeded to form itself until it finally began beating me with a shovel and threatening me with my dagger if I didn't write it. Now. Before I forget anything, so I haven't had breakfast yet. …hungry… It took about an hour, but I was thinking it for thirty minutes before that. Anyway! Hope you like. I've become infatuated with the not-so-yaoi, and darker Sasuke of my mind. I don't know where yaoi Sasuke came from… or where he went. It must be a Sophomore thing… and Freshman too I guess. I don't know. Whatever! This should actually be significantly better written than the previous chapters, cuz I know I've gotten better since then. I didn't actually look at any of them to find out though… Oh well. Insert random smiley here, and read the far too short chapter! Onagaishimasu.
Disclaimer: Not mine, though I did make up the kid…
Warning: I think there's a swear word, and mention of mass murder, so I'll go with this chapter is about a pg-13.
CHAPTER NINE: Eternity
"Everyone dies. Well," He glanced up from his hands, still tossing the kunai absently. "Everyone but me."
The boy gritted his teeth and stood firm, determined not to show any fear. He must be brave, for his grandmother. She had begged him to come, to stand before an immortal, a demon. "Can you save her?"
The raven haired immortal looked back at his hands, pale skinned and covered in tiny scars. "No." He traded out his kunai for a shuriken, still keeping his hands busy, occupied. "Even if I could. She'd never survive immortality."
"That's ridiculous!" The youth made a fist and his green eyes raged. He took a tentative step forward and the breeze from the window gently swayed his red hair, so dark it looked nearly black. "An immortal can survive anything. You've proved that."
"To be immortal you can't have a heart, or you'll die of the agony. You can't have a thought, or you'll die of insanity." Busy. He kept his hands busy. His mouth. What had she looked like? Remember. Remember to keep busy. An immortal couldn't pause. He couldn't afford to lose himself to it. To eternity.
The boy grabbed the shuriken from him. "Would you pay attention to me?" He shouted, angry, concerned for his grandmother.
"I am. Too much." He retrieved the cold metal from the youth's hands, tossed and twisted it in his own.
"You are him, right?" Suspicion shone in the boy's eyes, so much like hers had been, staring at him in the end. "The hero who obliterated the sound. Killed Orochimaru?"
"If you want to call me that."
"The force that finally defeated akastuki, just for one of them?"
He only nodded, his eyes glazed with memory. Toss the shuriken. Keep busy. Occupied.
"The demon who destroyed the leaf. Murdered Uzumaki, the last Hokage. Left only one lonely girl with child to wander lost, alone, and all but dead until she gave birth?"
"Yes." He gripped the shuriken so it drew blood. Dripped to the floor. The blood. It trickled down his fingers and fell lightly in droplets to the floor.
"So you are Uchiha Sasuke." Hatred burned in the youth's lovely eyes, twisted his pretty face so he became a demon himself.
The immortals eyes raged red with the sharingan. "Yes." He tossed the shuriken aside, embedded it into the rough wooden wall. "And who are you to come begging for her?"
The boy stared down his nose at his better, his pose and gaze filled with arrogance Sasuke couldn't help but recognize. "I'm your grandson." He looked away for a moment, closing his eyes. When he opened them they matched Sasuke's for their blood thirsty red.
The immortal felt the corner of his mouth twitch, though he couldn't tell up from down or why it moved. "Which surname do you use? Uchiha or Haruno?" Curiosity. Where was his shuriken. He felt bored, unoccupied.
"Uchiha. She still loved you. Loves… Even now." His hand twitched towards the weapons concealed beneath his clothes, just barely, before he stopped it. "Bastard." He made a fist, nails biting into his hand to keep it still. "Why did you leave only her? Why leave her at all?"
Sasuke's blood red eyes blazed in the growing shadows as the sun set outside. "Something I learned from my brother." He flexed his own hand, formed a fist. "Always leave just one. Always craft vengeance."
END CHAPTER
I know I didn't reveal how Sasuke became immortal, why he killed everyone but Sakura, how he got strong enough to do it, what his grandson's name is, where they are, how the kid found him, how old Sasuke looks (Though I picture him early to mid twenties for this…), the exact nature of his relationship with Sakura, and plenty of other things. And yes, I know any one or two of them would probably have fleshed this out into a full sized chapter, rather than the fledgling little chappie it is now. But I wanted to write this moment. Not what lead up to it, and not what comes after. This is what I wanted to write. And you can't do anything about it ::sticks my tongue out at you:: Nananabooboo!
Anyway, I hope you liked it despite all of that! And, erm, read Forsaken, it's been updated… And Test My Power is possibly my favorite of every fic I've written… but it only has a few reviews, so make me happy! Read and review it! Please?
