All this time I've been living

Only to realize

my words aren't immortal

and neither are my memories.

All they are is a shadow of the past

and a reminder of myself no one will remember.

All this time I've been dreaming.

of intangible circumstances

I wanted to touch the clouds

and see the birds dip in courtship below me.

All I wanted was to have something impossible

and now I know I was never meant to be.

All this time I've been hoping

for someone like you

you came to help me

and it is apparent you cared as well.

But all I am now is a memory

whispering in your ear.

You missed the chance to save me.
