Dreaming of You

Summary: One-shot songfic. Cindy dreams about the one she's loved all along.

"Cynthia, lights out! You have school tomorrow and it's 11:30," her mother said in a raspy voice while turning off her bedroom light.

"Okay mom, whatever.." Cindy replied, looking out into the vast darkness of the starry sky. She heard the floor creak outside of her bedroom, signaling her mom heading to bed.

A beautiful falling star flew across the sky. She walked quietly to her window seat and sat down. She sighed to herself and wished, I wish Jimmy would feel the same way I do. She closed her eyes as she brought her knees to her chest. She crossed her arms and placed them on her knees, and her head on top of her arms.

Through her window, she a figure in Jimmy's room moving toward his bed, and his light went off. She smiled and whispered, "Goodnight my love," although he couldn't hear her.

The blonde girl got up and walked over to her dresser and pulled on her white tanktop and pink pajama pants and snuggled up in her covers. She slowly closed her eyes and said sleepily, "I love you.. Jimmy.."

"Don't you get it Neutron? All of those times on 'Intergalactic Showdown' where I got jealous over April, when I helped you turn back to normal when we had superpowers, and that time when Professor Calamitous tried to kill you and I used my martial arts skills on him just to save your life? I love you Jimmy, don't you know that!"

"Of course I didn't know that! You torture me everyday with your mockings and name-callings! But Cindy, that doesn't matter anymore."

"Well why doesn't it!" she half-screamed with tears in her eyes.

He walked up to her slowly and placed his hand under her chin. He whispered, "Because I love you too." He leaned down and kissed her gently on her lips.

"You.. you really mean that?" she questioned as their lips departed.

"I really do." Cindy grinned from ear to ear and started walking slowly. The boy genius followed her, and their hands brushed as they walked along. She blushed as she slowly laced her fingers into his. He smiled down at her, as he had a growth spurt over the summer. "You know Cindy, I've alwa- BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!

The blonde growled as she reached her arm over to the night stand to turn off the loudly beeping alarm clock that had interrupted her perfect dream. "Does it have to do that every time I have a good dream?" She stretched as she sat up in her bed. The clock read 7:00, so she decided to get ready for school.

"This is so boring!" Cindy whispered to Libby who sat next to her in English. Libby nodded and rolled her eyes at their teacher who was writing on the blackboard. Cindy giggled, and turned her head to see Jimmy looking as bored as she. Of course he'd be bored in a freshman class, he knew this stuff already! Why hadn't he just transferred to a college English class or something?

As if he could feel her gaze, he turned and smiled at her. He mouthed to her "This is so boring!" She nodded to him, and yawned. She had been miserably tired all day from her late curfew. Her eyes started to slowly close, and she fell asleep during class.

"Where are you taking me Neutron?"

"Somewhere special.. you'll just have to wait and see." He could see Cindy sit back and relax in his rocket as they flew through outer space. He smiled as they landed on the moon. He offered her his hand to step out of the Strato XL, and she took it willingly. "Look over there."

She turned around to see the Earth looking very majestic and wondrous. Her eyes widened in awe and whispered, "It's beautiful!"

"Yes, you are," Jimmy replied. She turned to face him, and he brought her in a warm embrace. His ran his fingers through her silky blonde hair. "I love you."

"I love you too." She pulled away from his chest. "But just how much do you love me?"

"More than science. And that's saying something," he smirked. She laughed, and reached up to kiss him. "Cindy!"

"Yes?"

"CINDY!" Cindy snapped out of her dream as her teacher screamed her name. "If you want to sleep, go to the nurses office." She turned bright red as the class laughed, but luckily for Cindy, the bell rang. "Alright class, no homework. See you all Monday."

"Hey Cindy, you okay? You were sleeping pretty hard in English," Jimmy asked as they walked down the hallway after class.

"I'm fine, I was just up late last night, that's all. Well, I'm gonna head home and catch some more shut-eye. Catch you later?" she yawned as she asked. He nodded in response, and waved goodbye.

Cindy slowly walked over to her comfortable bed, and plopped down onto it. "At least now I won't have any grumpy teachers waking me up." She rolled over on her side, and fell back into Dreamland.

"Now where were we?" Jimmy asked as Cindy pulled an arms length away from him. She was lost in his hypnotizing deep blue eyes, as she often was.

"I believe we were about to kiss.." She gave him a loving smile as she pulled closer to him and placed her lips upon his. After a minute, they pulled away, and sat down on the moon's whitish-gray surface, enjoying the beautiful view of Earth. A ringing was heard from somewhere around them.

"Did you bring your cell phone?"

"No, I was just going to ask you that."

Ring, ring! Cindy sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes. Her phone was ringing on her nightstand. With a yawn, she answered, "Hello?"

"Um, Cindy? Hi, it's Jimmy."

"Uh, hey Neutron, what's up?"

"Oh, not much. I was wondering.." His voice trailed off as he fidgeted with his fingers.

"Wondering what?" she answered, getting annoyed.

"Did you.. I don't know.. want to hang out all day tomorrow? Just the two of us?"

Cindy's throat had a lump in it. He was asking her on a date! And no Sheen, Carl, or Libby alongside them!

"Uh.. sure, I guess it could be fun," she choked out. "What time did you want me to come over to your house?"

"Lets see.. 10 A.M.?"

"Sounds good! See you then! Later," she said before hanging up the receiver. I'VE GOT A DATE WITH JIMMY! she screamed in her head so her parents wouldn't hear and think something was wrong with her.

The next morning, Cindy awoke from another one of her Neutron-filled dreams. After two minutes of laying in bed trying to wake up, the thought of her date with Jimmy flowed back through her head. She immediately sat up, and raced to the bathroom to get ready.

After her shower, shewalked over to her closet to choose something to wear. She chose a cute pink tank top and denim capris and put them on. She glanced at the clock. 9:55. She had just enough time to get across the street. She grabbed a five-dollar bill, just in case she needed some cash, and placed it in her pocket.

She walked up to his door and rang the doorbell. She heard footsteps coming towards the door.

"Hey, Cindy! You look.. you look great.." He gave her a smile, and she blushed.

"Heh, thanks." She pondered her thoughts as to where they might be headed, as he never specified over the phone. "So, where are we going?" the blonde asked as they walked over to his hovercar.

"Well, we could go to the Candy Bar to get some ice cream if you want." She nodded, and climbed in after him.

Their flight was silent, but the whole way they snuck looks at each other, and turned their head before the other would see. Finally they arrived at the Candy Bar, and they found a booth in the corner. After a couple minutes, Sam finally noticed them and made his way over to the table.

"Can I take your order, yeah?" the chubby man asked, whipping out a pad of paper and a pen.

Cindy thought for a moment and said, "I'll have a pecan ripple sundae, extra fudge."

Jimmy continued with, "And I'lltake a root beer float please."

Sam nodded his head and went back behind the counter to prepare their orders, and came back within seconds.

"Wow Sam, you make these things fast!" the blonde added as she dipped her spoon into a pool of hot fudge and vanilla ice cream. "And tasty, might I add."

He walked off without saying a word, and started to wipe off a table behind them. Cindy avoided Jimmy's eyes as she ate her sundae, hoping he would start a conversation. Luckily, he did.

"So," he said after taking a sip of his float, "did you maybe want to spend the day at Retroland or something? 'Cause I have the whole day to-"

"I'd love to," she interrupted with a smile. His mouth -which was slightly dropped from speaking- formed into a smile as he mentally told himself, "yes!"

After scoffing down their ice cream and battling major brain freezes, they walked up to the counter to pay for their ice cream. Cindy felt for her five dollars in her pocket, but there was nothing there. She froze, patting down each of her pockets, finding nothing. Jimmy raised an eyebrow.

"What's the matter?"

"My five-dollar bill is gone! I put it in my pocket before we left!"

"Don't worry, it's on me."

"You sure?" He put up a hand and nodded while placing ten dollars on the counter. Sam gave him his change, and they walked out to his hovercar.

After spending many fun-filled hours at Retroland, the sky was starting to dim quickly. Suddenly, an idea popped into the young genius's mind.

"Hey, Cindy, what time do you have to be home?"

"Mom could care less on the weekends." She rolled her eyes at the thought. "Why?

"You'll see.. come on!" They raced over towards the entrance to the park where Jimmy led her to a small hill near some tall grass. "I used to come here all the time, and I had almost forgotten about it. Go ahead, lay down." She shot him a look, but immediately followed his order.

He pointed to the dark sky. "You can see Ursa Major, commonly known as the 'Big Dipper,' usually seen between latitudes-"

"..90 degrees and -30 degrees." She held up a hand before he could say anything. "Lets just say I study the stars and constellations sometimes." She turned her head to smile at him, and he smiled back. She swallowed hard as she inched closer to him. He had his arms crossed behind his head, and she turned her upper body to face him. Cindy leaned down and kissed him unexpectedly. He unfolded his arms and closed his eyes as he returned the kiss.

They pulled apart, and Jimmy whispered, "I love you. I always have, and always will."

My wish.. it came true! And my dreams did too.. sort of, Cindy thought. "Ditto to that!" She winked, and Jimmy chuckled as they got up and walked -hand in hand, might I add- to the hovercar for a peaceful ride home. Cindy yawned and fell asleep on his shoulder. She slept with a sweet smile on her face.

I don't want to wake her or her parents up. I should let her sleep on the couch in my lab. He safely landed the hovercar next to the clubhouse and carried the beautiful blonde into his labratory. He gently layed her down on his plush couch and covered her with a blanket. He kissed her on the cheek before heading inside his house. She shifted slightly as Goddard plopped down on her stomach. He went into sleep mode, and Jimmy smiled before turning off the light. Now, it was his turn to dream.
