Winning Double solitaire scrabble

Hello peoples. Well this is my first EVER fan fiction and its probably VERY boring and VERY stupid... I had a few silent studies at school and as you can see I used them wisely didn’t I. Please RR and tell me what you think. I know it’s not all that… I’m not really a writer… I’m not to sure why I even posted this… Sorry for any mistakes and enjoy the best you can... Thank you

March 1955

Crabapple Cove, Main

Margaret paced the room with a vague look on her face. Her hands rested lightly on her very pregnant belly while she continued walking back and forth.

Daniel stepped out of his office and didn’t notice Margaret until they nearly collided but she was still so deep in thought she didn’t even notice the near collision.

Daniel continued walking into the kitchen and sat down. He chuckled to himself as he sat down at the table.

He saw his son sitting across from him, engrossed in the daily town’s news and gossip. Again Daniel chuckled to himself and lightly knocked on his son’s newspaper, only to receive a slight “mmmm?” as a reply.

“Son?” Daniel called

“Yeah dad?” he replied, still engrossed in the newspaper.

“Hawk, we’ve got a problem.”

These words instantly caught Benjamin Franklin Pierce’s attention. Although his dad seemed calm and had called him ‘Hawk’ he still though the worst.

“What?...is she?... now!...”

Daniel laughed realizing what his son may have thought and quickly reassured him.

“No, no... She isn’t in labor yet, calm down! She still has 5 weeks to go, although is she continues pacing back and forth like she is in the living room then in 5 weeks we will be fresh out of flooring.”

Hawkeye chuckled to himself and got up and walked over to the living room. He stood in the archway for a few moments watching Margaret pace back and forth, as he grinned to himself. After a moment he decided to find out what was on her mind.

“Margaret?” no reply

“Mrs. Pierce” Still no reply.

“Major?” That always got her attention but not today.

Hawkeye laughed lightly and then walked up beside her and put his hand on her lower back.

“You know, you’ve already worn out all the carpet, soon we won’t have any floor boards if you don’t keep still”

This snapped Margaret out of her daydream and made her stop.

“What?” She thought for a moment and then smiled as she looked at the floor, then at Hawkeye.

The carpet had been removed 4 weeks ago and replaced with floor boards after the decision was made that the living room needed a makeover.

It was Daniels idea, to give Margaret something to do. The only rules were that she wasn’t allowed to over work or over stress herself and she wasn’t to pick up anything. That was what Hawkeye and Daniel were for.

She had planned, shopped, ordered and organized for the past 2 months and after the new floor was put in and the walls had been painted an orange-ish yellow and the new furniture had been put in. There was now a large brown couch and oak end tables and coffee table. She had been thrilled with the end results as had Hawkeye and Daniel.

Margaret stepped into Hawkeye’s arms and kissed him softly.

“Hay” she said softly, still in a little daydream mood.

Hawkeye kissed her back softly and smiled.

“Let’s go for a walk down to the beach”

As he suggested this he was already gently tugging on her hand and pulling her through the kitchen and out the back door. They passed Daniel on their way out who had started preparing dinner. Just as they were out the door he yelled

“Dinners done in 2 hours… Try and not be late!”

He laughed as he said this and went back to cooking. Hawkeye just nodded and kept walking with Margaret by his side.

5 minutes later they were sitting under a tree and watching the waves as they hit the sand and then drew back again.

Margaret was resting against Hawkeye as she sat between his legs leaning back against him, resting against his chest. She felt as his chest when up and down with every breath and relaxed into him.

As Hawkeye felt her relax he slowly brought his hands to her shoulders and back. He gave her a relaxing massage and felt her muscles melt under his fingers.

He smiled again and kissed the top of her head.

“Margaret?” he asked softly while still rubbing her back.

After a few minutes he got the lazy reply of “mmmm?”

“Sweetie, what’s wrong? What on your mind? With those words he felt her tense up again.

“Nothing... just you know… Hormones… I guess…” He heard her voice shake as she said this and slowly, he turned her shoulders causing her to face him.

He saw a single tear roll down her cheek and he wiped it away with his thumb softly as he cupped her face with his hand. She then buried her face in his chest and started crying.

Hawkeye hugged her tightly and ran his hands up and down her backing trying to sooth her. He rocked her back and forth comfortingly and whispered kind words in her ear trying to calm her.

After 10 minutes she had calmed down again and hugged closer to Hawkeye.

“I’m sorry” she said in barley a whisper.

“Honey you don’t ever have to be sorry. Just tell me what’s wrong… why are you upset? You know you can talk to me.”

It was true. She had trusted him even when they were in Korea. Although during their first year in Korea all they did was fight, after Frank had left, Margaret had loosened up. Her and Hawkeye become friends, and then they became close friends. She had went to him for comfort, even during her divorce.

It was if it was yesterday, that they were sitting up in the mess tent, till about 2 in the morning any time either of them needed to talk. He was the only one she ever let all her walls down for.

2 months after the war had ended, Margaret finally returned to the USA. She had decided that she had had enough of the army and gave in her notice.

Her final month in Korea had been spent helping South Koreans rebuild their lives. She then had seen the real affects of war. Sure she had seen soldiers die, or get wounded, and it pained her to see it. But the sight she saw in her last month there had really struck her. She saw children, alone and without limbs, mother mourning the loss of their families, large families without a home and with only the rags on their back.

The same day she arrived in America she gave in her notice. They had been sad to see her leave and begged for her to stay. They even offered her promotions and allowed her to be stationed where ever she wanted but she rejected. She never wanted to be apart of something like the Korean war again and she never wanted to see what she saw in Korea. She didn’t want a life full of death and pain and futile murder.

She spent her first month home living with her father. At first he had been disappointed that she had left the Army but he never said anything. He had noticed the change in her. He had seen the pain in her eyes. And for the first time in his life he hated the army. He hated what it had done to his baby girl.

At the end of November 1953 Margaret decided to go see Hawkeye. The two had spoken every night since she had gotten back and although they never mentioned their good bye kiss. They kept talking like old friends… nothing more… although secretly Margaret wanted more…

She had decided to surprise him. She told him she was going to New York for a week.

As she got out of the taxi in front of his house she saw him asleep on the front porch.

He had drifted off about an hour ago and was deeply in slumber. He hadn’t been sleeping at night, not since he got home. All of a sudden he felt someone’s lips on his, kissing him softly. He assumed he was dreaming… the dream he usually had when he had those rare moments of sleep. He kissed her back, still asleep.

“Margaret… I love you… I miss you…” He said in his sleep.

Margaret stopped kissing him and looked at him. He was still deep in sleep. Did he mean what he had just said? She decided to wake him up. She carefully sat on his lap and nudged him and was smiling down as him.

He slowly opened his eyes and thought he might have still be asleep.

“Hay their Hansom” Margaret said softly as he woke up..

“Are you really here or am I asleep?” He asked, still a little groggy. He then smiled up at her and kissed her again. She kissed him back and after awhile she pulled back.

“Hawk? Did you mean what you said in your sleep? Do you… love me?” She was scared he might say no, he might crack a joke, or worst yet just laugh at her. Instead he looked in her eyes

“Yes! Of course I do!”

“I love you too” again she was kissing him... Deeply!

After that things seemed great. Margaret moved in with Hawkeye and Daniel. She and Hawkeye had decided to take things slow but they didn’t want to be apart. And Daniel had accepted her with open arms. He hadn’t seen his son that happy since before Korea and he thought Margaret was an angel. She had brought his son back. And he was better then ever.

On Christmas morning Hawkeye proposed to Margaret. She cried as he slid his mother’s old engagement ring on her finger. He had made a huge dinner for himself, his father and Margaret afterwards to celebrate.

Margaret Father had come down for new years and had seen how happy Margaret was with Hawkeye. He knew how unmilitary he was but he had also checked out his surgical skills. He wanted the best for his daughter.

Al knew how happy Hawkeye made Margaret and so he decided to over look his un-military behavior. After all, his daughter was no longer part of the army, and he was still made at how the daughter had ended up hurting his daughter. He found himself blaming the Army for her first broken marriage,

Al still was in the Army and never wanted out. When it came to Margaret he became a little bitter.

He accepted Hawkeye into the family and on March 14 1954 he walked his daughter down the isle.

There wedding had been small. They ended up holding a reunion at the same time as there wedding. Everyone was there including Trapper. He and Hawkeye spoke for hours a few weeks before and cleared the air. BJ was Hawkeye’s best man and Margaret sister was the maid of honor.

The wedding was beautiful and Margaret knew that this one would last. She had never loved some one so mach. Hawkeye felt the same way and found his day kept getting better the more he heard his new bride laugh.

Margaret and Hawkeye decided to stay living with Daniel. They loved the big house and Margaret understood how much Hawkeye didn’t want to leave his dad alone in that house. She had seen how much he had missed him in Korea.

Daniel suggests that they renovate the top floor of the house and extend Hawkeye’s bedroom so that it would be more comfortable for two people. They also added a few bed rooms for guests and one day grandchildren.

Daniel thought it would be a great idea for Margaret to decorate the top floor, especially her bedroom that way she would feel that it was her house too. At first she had been nervous that they would hate it but she had done a fantastic job.

Margaret and Daniel became close and she soon found herself calling him Dad.

In late August Margaret found herself 1 month pregnant. At first she had been nervous as, what to tell Hawkeye. She knew what had happened before he left Korea and she didn’t know how he might react.

What she told her he was thrilled although a little nervous. But the closer the due date came the more excited he got.

Margaret’s fantastic job on decorating the top floor is what inspired Daniel to get Margaret to do the new living room once she became more pregnant. He knew how she loved doing things and keeping active and thought it would be a good idea to give her a not so stressful project. It would also be easier for Hawkeye and Daniel to keep an eye on her and make sure she and the baby were healthy.

Daniel was thrilled he was going to become a grand father and couldn’t wait for the big day.

As Margaret and Hawkeye sat on the beach, Margaret found herself trying to cuddle up closer and closer to Hawkeye… if that was at all possible.

After a few minutes she finally decided to tell him what was on her mind.

“I got a call today… from an old friend…” She started speaking softly and slowly. Hawkeye just waited patiently and continued rubbing her shoulders in a reassuring way.

“She… She got married to a guy she also met in Korea… I knew them both really well. I had met them at different times… when we moved a lot… they were both… army brats… like me I guess… she was pregnant… today she rang to tell me that… two months ago... She miscarried… and then… her husband… he… got involved in a car accident… he didn’t… didn’t make it….” She started crying again.

Hawkeye hugged her closer and continued trying to comfort here.

“I’m just so... It made me think… I’m so scared of losing you… of losing our baby… what if… what if I’m not a good mother... A friend of mine had died… and all I can think about... is myself… I’m horrible”

With that she cried harder still. She was trapped in a web of emotions. While grieving she was also full of fear and panic.

Hawkeye calmed her down a little with reassuring words. He knew what it was like to lose a close friend. He stilled blamed himself every now and then for Tommy’s death, although he knew there was nothing he could have done.

“Margaret, I’m sorry about your friend, we can go fly up there if you want… But what I’m about to say… you need to listen okay...”

Margaret turned to look at him slowly scared of what he might say.

“Honey, I’m not going anywhere and I never will, and I’m going to do everything in my power to make it stay that way. And out baby is healthy and fine so far… don’t forget you have two of the best doctors living in the same house of you, everything will be okay”

Hawkeye spoke these words softly while looking deep into her eyes. He knew her fears and he knew her emotions were playing the worst kind of tricks on her just by being pregnant, With the lose of a friend she must have been feeling insane.

With these words Margaret seemed to relax a little. She knew he wouldn’t lie to her. She even smiled a little with the mention of the ‘two best doctors living with her’.

Her eyes still gave away her slight fear and the pain she was feeling from the death of a friend.

After half an hour of Hawkeye consoling Margaret and reassuring her that everything will be okay, they decided to make their way up to the house.

When they got to the house, Margaret when to the bathroom to freshen up before dinner, Daniel had noticed Margaret’s quiet behavior and noticed how upset she seemed to be.

With his voice full of concern he asked his son, when he was sure that his daughter in law was out of hearing range.

“Is she okay?”

Hawkeye explained to him what happened and also explained her fears. Daniel felt bad for her and wanted to find a way to help cheer her up. After dinner he put a call though to Al and told him what happened. He suggested Al come down for a week or two to cheer up his daughter who missed her father so much.

The next day Al was there and comforting his daughter. He took a long walk with her and when they came back Hawkeye and Daniel were pleased to see her smiling again.

Although she was still upset, she had settled down and even relaxed a little.

Al Stayed for a week and a half and by then Margaret had settled down a great deal. She decided not to go to the funeral, but they held a small memorial at the beach. Although it was only 4 of them, this meant a great deal to Margaret and it helped her a lot.

On March 14th Hawkeye decided to take Margaret out for their anniversary. They had been married one year already and Hawkeye wanted to really celebrate.

He made plans at the best restaurant in town. At first she felt self-cautious. She was feeling ‘fat’ and sluggish. But with Daniel’s help, Hawkeye had convinced her that she was beautiful no matter what and that the ‘fat’ she was referring to was their child, or grandchild in Daniels case.

Margaret and Hawkeye walked down to the beach after dinner and relaxed in each others arms.

There baby was due in 3 more weeks and Margaret and Hawkeye couldn’t wait. They had just celebrated one of the best years of their lives and they knew there were more to come.

They had both tied in winning Double solitaire scrabble and wouldn’t have had it nay other way…
