"Midnight Sky"
by: Emerald Eyes
Late last night
the moon shone bright,
bathing the planet
in soft mako light.
I lost myself
in the sky so vast
and started to wonder
about the past.
What was it like
before my time?
If it's beautiful—
I'll take it—
embrace it—
it's mine!
But I'm not naïve.
I know beauty is forsaken.
I cannot have it—
it's already taken.
The people here are dead.
They follow their fears.
And at night—
all alone—
they cry their tears.
This world is corruption.
Can you hear their cries?
It's the people dying
because of ShinRa
and all of their lies.
I wished things were like they were
before mako power.
And I wished for that
until the clock struck the third hour.
I thought I could go
far away from here
away from Midgar—
away from fear.
So I looked up at the stars
to see
someone gazing
back at me.
"Is the fighting over?
I don't know.
I cannot hide—
I've no place to go!
So help me try to
set things right.
Please help me turn
dark into light."
Emerald eyes
gazed back at me.
The girl in the stars smiled
then spoke to me.
"Little Girl,
listen to what I say.
I will take
the pain away.
I know you're scared
and so am I,
but we can get through this
if we only try."
Then I was alone.
She had disappeared.
But her words lingered,
the meaning clear.
The hope will nullify
the hate,
if you only have
the patience to wait.
Now every single star
looks bright:
An angel spoke to me
last night.
