"Yeah. Her having such a rare blood type was definitely a plus, but we still have to get some of her DNA." Kate explained.
"How do we plan on doing that? I mean, it's not exactly like she dropped saliva on the ground or something," Alex sighed.
"If we had her body then I could match it to the fingerprints found on the necklace," Abby said walking into the bullpen. "I feel kinda bad for Gibbs. He really thought that we were going to have a lead."
"We do," Gibbs said, popping into the conversation.
"Where did you come from?" Abby inquired.
"It was a long and painful process that involved my mother in labor for six hours," Gibbs joked.
"Forget where he came from. Gibbs, did I hear you right? Did you just hint that we had a lead?" Kate said hopefully.
"I didn't hint anything Kate, I said it. Another body was found in a dumpster off of Virginia Avenue. It was missing ears, eyes, nose, the whole nine yards. So maybe..."
"You think it was Kayla!" Alex interrupted. "Sorry, it's just that I'm so excited. My first day on the job and we almost have a case wrapped up."
"I really can't be sure Alexandra. The cuts match so I know that this body belongs to the facial features, but without DNA I have know solid way to know if it is Kayla. The body is too decomposed to match her to her picture," Ducky said disappointedly.
"Wait! Abby mentioned something about fingerprints."
"Of course. Why didn't I think of that?"
"I'll go let her know what's 'll send Jimmy up with the prints in just a bit?"
"Yes Alexandra. Thank you." Ducky returned to examining the body as Alex made her way to Abby's lab.
"Holy mother of pearl! Only Gibbs is ever able to scare 're good," Abby laughed.
"Ducky said..." the chorus of the song drowned out the rest of Alex's statement.
"That's great." Abby pretended to hear what Alex had said while continuing to dance. "Shake it up!" Abby sang.
"Did you even hear me?" Alex seemed aggravated.
"Not a word," Abby confessed, retreating to turn off the music.
"Well, I'll let you off with a warning just because I love old rock bands. Def Leppard is one of my favorites. Although, I'm not really sure if it could be classified as rock," Alex said.
"I'm not sure either, maybe metal or something, but anyway. So what's up with the Duck-Man?"
"Oh right. He is going to have Jimmy send up the fingerprints. We're hoping that they'll match the fingerprints found on the necklace. By the way, how's it going with those?"
"I just entered them into my data base. I was going to run them through her school records, but they don't take fingerprints there. What losers."
"I see."
"But I did find out who the other set of prints belonged to."
:"There were two sets of prints?"
"Yeah. One of them belonging to her mother, Tanya. I did a background check to see how the family life was and apparently Mrs. Tanya Mason was sent to jail for six DUI's in one year."
"You think she was an alcoholic or did she just enjoy a light drink now and then?"
"Definitely an alcoholic. I found out she went to rehab about three months ago after she got out of jail."
"Did you..." Alex started to say something, but was cut off by Tony entering Abby's lab.
"I have a delivery for Miss Abigail Scuito. I believe it's some fingers, I mean, fingerprints," Tony joked.
"Why thank you Anthony, but where is Jimmy? I thought he was bringing the... hey Alex! Where are you going?" Abby called after Alex as she ran out of the lab.
"I think I know who killed Kayla!"
"Yes?"
"Umm... we are here to see a Tanya Mason. We visited earlier today. We're the two agents from NCIS," Alex explained.
"Of course. She told me about the two of you. Please, come in," Mr. Mason said. "Have a seat. I'll go retrieve Tanya from upstairs.
Alex and Tommy waited on the cocuh when finally, ten minutes later, Tanya came down.
"So sorry. I just got out of the shower," she explained, toweling her hair dry.
"No problem. We just need to ask you a few more questions. This time about when you... when you went into rehab," Alex choked out.
Immediately Tanya quit drying her hair. "It was nothing. Went in, went out. You know the deal," Tanya replied with worry in her voice.
"Actually, I don't know the deal, but I realize that you went in around the same time Kayla went missing. Is that correct?" Alex said smuggly.
"Yeah. I got really upset and began drinking heavily."
"Two weeks before she was even reported missing? What took you so long to file a report? Kayla has been missing a lot longer than three months, hasn't she?" Alex asked.
All of a sudden Tanya burst into tears. "It was an accident. She just... she never understood. I needed to drink. She got in my way and I just couldn't... I couldn't stop myself. God, I am so sorry. If I could..." Tanya was unable to finish her sentence as tears flowed freely down her face.
"Call Gibbs," Tony mouthed to Alex as he began to handcuff . "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say..."
