What if?

"I should have gone with them, Sam. I shouldn't be here…"

"Hush now, Frodo-love. You should be here with your Sam. Not sailing away to Lor-knows-where."

"But, I should be! What if the illness gets worse? What if I don't?"

"Don't be silly. You'll be fine."

"But what if…?"

"Don't spend your time thinking 'what-if's. Won't change anything."

"I can't help but think though."

"You can't change owt now…" Sam repeated, then laughed. "You do sound like you'd love to go off and leave me, though." Frodo, his eyes closed and small smile on his face, shook his head.

"Never."
