Note: To clear up some questions…yes, the Digimon do exist in this fic, and yes, everything to do with the Digital World has happened. This is set after the second season, but before the episode when it shows everyone when they are older. The ages in this fic are as follows:

Taichi (Tai), Yamato (Matt), Sora- 17 years old

Jyou (Joe)- 18 years old

Koushiro (Izzy), Mimi- 16 years old

Takeru (Tk), Ken, Daisuke (Davis), Hikari (Kari), Yolei,- 14 years old

Iori (Cody)- 13 years old

I’m not sure if these ages are in the right timeline, but it works for this fic, so I hope no one yells at me for the incorrectness of the ages.

Also note: The conversations that are between the two unknown beings, are not necessarily following the same timeline that the rest of the story is going through, but that also doesn’t mean that they aren’t following the time line. Confusing, I know. Those particular conversations are supposed to give slight background and clues as to who the mysterious person is. Not sure if that makes sense, but I hope it does.

Coercion

The loud beeping noise from his alarm clock woke Taichi from his restless slumber, and he wasn’t sure if he was thankful for it or not. He hadn’t been able to get any sleep, his thoughts plagued with the things that had been written on those creepy letters, the disturbing words were etched in his tired mind.

He could hear those haunting words, clearly, in his mind, as if he were reading the letter for the first time. He could feel the heart-gripping shock and slight fear that had taken over his senses when he had first laid eyes on those pictures and read those words.

Taking in a deep breath, refusing to acknowledge what was going on around him, Taichi headed for the small bathroom. He wanted to take another shower. He felt as though he had to take another shower. He felt dirty, for some odd reason, and he couldn’t shake that feeling of being watched.

Paranoid, Taichi turned around quickly, his russet colored eyes taking in his surroundings. Nothing looked out of place, and Taichi let out a breath he wasn’t aware he had been holding.

Calm down, Yagami, you’re just paranoid. It was just some joke. Nothing more.

Repeating this somewhat reassuring mantra over in his mind, Taichi walked into the bathroom, closing the door behind him firmly. He turned on the water and let it heat up as he discarded his clothing. He had only taken off his shirt when he thought better of his actions and walked over to the bathroom door and locked it. Thinking it over once again, he locked the bathroom window as well.

No, not paranoid…Just safe.

After a slightly relaxing shower, Taichi exited into his kitchen, determined to make himself a very caffeine-filled drink. He needed something to get his usual vigor back, and caffeine sounded like a good solution at the moment.

Taichi could still smell the fresh scent of roses when he walked into his kitchen. He had gotten rid of the rose petals the night before, but the scent of the flowers wasn’t as easy to get rid of. And even though the pictures were kind of disturbing, Taichi had kept those in his room. Maybe he would be able to find out something about this stalker by those pictures.

Taichi took out a soccer mug from the cabinet, his mind not really on his task. He didn’t want to think about this anymore, it was just too freaky.

An odd, sudden sound made the brunette jump, turning around, his grip on the mug tightening in his unexpected shock. Taichi’s golden-brown eyes darted around, looking for anything that was out of place, but, just as before, he saw nothing that was different from his usual surroundings.

Paranoid…

A loud knock made Taichi jump, yelping out in surprise, and he lost his grip on his coffee mug. And the ceramic object connected with the linoleum floor, smashing in to many oddly shaped tiny pieces.

“Taichi?” A familiar voice asked, concern etched audibly in the male voice. Taking a deep breath to calm his sporadic breathing, Taichi opened the door to his apartment.

The comforting sight of his best friend, complete with immaculate golden blonde hair and striking blue eyes, welcomed him.

“Hey.” Yamato greeted softly. “Everything alright?” Taichi put on a smile, one that he was certain that his best friend would be able to see through.

“Yeah, you just startled me is all.” Taichi grinned sheepishly. “I dropped my mug.” Yamato raised an eyebrow at the explanation.

“You know that I always come to your house around this time.” The blonde’s blue eyes narrowed slightly. “You know…to walk to school?” There was a slightly saddened tone to Yamato’s voice that was almost impossible to hear, but, to Taichi’s trained ears, Yamato was clearly worried that Taichi no longer wanted to walk to school with him.

“Yeah, I know you do, Yama.” The brunette reassured him. Yamato smiled, relief visible in his eyes. Then the smile faltered slightly.

“You’re not even ready yet.” The blonde stated simply. His eyes sweeping over Taichi’s body. The other male flushed slightly. He was dressed only in his trademark shorts, not bothering to put on a shirt when he had gotten out of the shower. He laughed guiltily, before an odd thought crossed his thoughts.

Was Yamato checking me out?

Quickly dismissing that thought with a slight shake of his head, Taichi gestured for his friend to enter the apartment.

“I’ll be ready in a couple of minutes, just let me clean this up first.” He added, indicating the ruined mug. But his blonde friend was already making his way to the closet where Taichi kept his cleaning supplies.

“Nah, I’ll get it, Tai, you go get ready.” Yamato smirked. “I don’t want to wait too long for you just so we can get to school. And we both know how well you do with cleaning.” Taichi rolled his eyes at the comment, but obliged, heading down the hallway to his bedroom.

“Just make sure you don’t break anything, Ishida.” Taichi called while opening the door to his room. Yamato’s slightly musical laughter was the only response he got before he closed the door quietly behind him.

“Look, if you really want my help with this, then, by all means, I’ll help you. I just want to make sure you know what you are doing before you do it.”

“I don’t need your help, you know. I just would’ve liked your ‘superior’ ideas.”

“They are only superior because they are much better than your own.”

“…”

“Well, I defiantly can’t help you if you are not talking with me.”

“You mean you’ll help me!” The exclamation was cheerful, and totally different from the dull tone that the male had been using prior to his outburst.

“If it would mean that much to you.”

“Yeah! Thanks, this means a lot to me. I really do like him, you know. I just don’t know how to tell him. This seems like the only way I can make him see.”

“If you ask me, ‘this way’ seems harder than just going up to him and admitting your feelings. But, hey, what do I know?”

“Nah, this way is easier. Trust me.”

“If you say so…”

“Well, trust is something that people have to develop between others, and it is something that everyone has to have with someone else. So, I think that you have to trust me. Besides, we’re in this together.” The tone of voice was subdued, and almost whisper-soft, making the other male narrow his eyes slightly.

“What ever you say…” Sometimes, he seriously wondered about the sanity of his friend. And, sometimes, he truly wondered about his own sanity.

When Taichi left the small confines of his bedroom, a nice smell drifted to his senses, making his stomach grumbled appreciatively. Slightly quicker, Taichi continued his way down the hallway and into the kitchen. Yamato was easily making some toast, humming softly as he worked efficiently. Taichi felt that the only thing missing was Yamato’s pink apron.

That thought made him smile. At least seeing Yama in a pink apron would be considered normal. Unlike everything else that had been happening lately.

“Hey.” The brunette greeted, breaking through his own thoughts. Yamato froze, presumably startled, before turning, a smile on his face.

“Finally ready now, Tai?” He asked mockingly. Taichi just rolled his eyes in response, and walked over next to the blonde.

“What are you making?” He questioned, looking pointedly at the food in front of him. Yamato rolled his eyes this time.

“Isn’t it obvious?” The blonde smirked. “You doofus, I made you something to eat.” Yamato’s tone became softer, gentler. “I kind of figured that you would want something to eat.” A small grin took over the blonde singer’s features. “Besides, we both know that you would never survive until lunch with no breakfast.”

They both laughed slightly, but, somehow, Taichi felt that it was slightly forced. He could still see the concern in Yamato’s eyes, but Taichi knew that his best friend would ask questions that Taichi would rather not answer.

“Thanks Yama.” Taichi’s voice was quiet, but the blonde heard him, and replied with a shrug. It was an nonchalant response, but they both knew that it was Yamato’s own way of saying your welcome. Quickly becoming tired of the façade they both seemed to be putting up, Taichi decided to take a little action.

“Come on Yama, we’re going to be late.” Taichi suddenly called out, bounding towards the door of his apartment. Yamato chuckled, following behind his best friend.

“And who’s fault would that be?” He asked sarcastically. Taichi just smirked at him before opening the door, holding it open for the blonde to get through, before shutting it once more, quickly locking it. Taichi turned around to face Yamato with a smile.

“Alright, let’s get going!” He exclaimed. But Yamato wasn’t looking at him, instead, his blue eyes were diverted to the door, a questioning expression on his pale features. Taichi’s smile faltered when he turned to see what Yamato was looking at so intently.

It was another letter, the same vanilla color, the envelope had no writing on it, nothing to make it unique. It was plain, and harmless…but it set Taichi’s heart racing.

What the—

Why did a letter have to come while Yamato was here? Now there would be questions that Taichi knew he would never get out of answering.

“Tai?” Yamato questioned, breaking the quiet reverie. “What’s a letter doing on your door?”

That’s a question, I’d like an answer to too, Yama.

“Not sure.” Came the brunette’s intelligent reply. What was he supposed to say? ‘Oh, that’s just a letter from this freaky stalker I have, but, no worries Yama.’ Yeah, that would play out real nicely too.

Taichi quickly took the envelope off from the door, but hesitated on opening it. It felt almost…wrong to open it with someone else around. Almost as if this were an individual battle that Taichi didn’t really want to share with anyone else.

“Oh.” Yamato said softly. “Its from someone like that.” Some emotion flashed through those blue eyes. Envy? Jealously? Sadness? Taichi wasn’t sure. Even after years of practice, it still was hard to interpret Yamato Ishida’s emotions.

“You never told me you had a lover, Taichi.” Yamato joked with a playful shove. “Don’t worry, I won’t try to look over your shoulder when you read your love letter.” Taichi laughed half-heartedly, before following Yamato down the street.

The folded envelope in his hands was feather light, but it felt as though it were weighing him down more than a 1000 pound weight would have.

Stupid, no-good, rotten letters. Stupid, scary, frightening, rotten stalker.

“I was serious, Taichi.” Yamato called from his position slightly in front of the brunette. “If you want to read it, then by all means, go ahead. Don’t worry, I wont pry you for answers.”

Taichi nodded, his mind not really comprehending anything at the moment. He knew that he had to read what was on the letter. He wasn’t sure why, but he wanted to see just what crazy thing was going to be immaculately written on the plain vanilla colored paper.

Taking in a deep breath, Taichi opened the letter.

Dearest Taichi,

I have always wanted to be with you, in every sense of the phrase. But I fear that sometimes I will never be able to have you. And, maybe, I am only scaring you by showing you my feelings this way. Maybe, I am only ruing any chance that I ever had. Maybe, but one can never be too sure.

I am a coward, Taichi. So unlike you, yet so similar. Scary, isn’t? To think, that maybe I am not so different from you. Ha, it makes me laugh at the thought that I may be scaring the one person that I have ever truly felt this way about.

Perhaps you would like to know about your ‘stalker’? Well, I don’t want to reveal my identity just yet (for who knows when I will) but let me tell you this…

You do know me. We have met before, countless of times. I am not a stranger to you. I would dare say that I know you quite well. Although I would love to know more about you. I will get that chance, someday soon.

Taichi glanced quickly around him, that peculiar feeling of being watched had once again taken over his senses. Yamato had kept true to his word and was still the same distance from Taichi as he had been before. For some reason, the calmed Taichi a bit, to know that Yamato knew nothing about this stalker.

But even though no one knew about it, it still was scary to think about it. The brunette’s thoughts sent shivers down his back, as he quickly put the letter away. He glanced around him once again.

Who did he know that was so obsessed with him?

A/n: Hehe, I love this story (well, actually, I love all of my stories, but anyways) I hope that everyone like this new chapter to the story. And if you didn’t, well, no one made you read it! And I am sorry, but I am not going to change my plot just because you don’t like the way it is turning out. And for those of you who liked it, then please wait patiently for the next chapter. (Please excuse the oddness of the authoress, for it is currently past midnight, and she is slightly sleep deprived, for said authoress has not slept for two days, and continues to find herself unable to sleep)

Until next chapter!
