Inuyasha looked into the depths of the shallow lake, the sunset in the background casting a feverish glow onto the water. He stuck his claws into the water and brought them back up, the water sifting through them. As soon as the sun set, he would take on his human features, for he was, a half demon. He let his mind wander to his deceased mother, Izayoi. He missed her terribly, and growing up the rest of his life would be more bearable if she was alive and with him right now. She would be happy of his and Kagome's soon to be marriage, and would enjoy having babysat her grandchildren. But he knew even if she was here, she'd be old enough to be dead, because he was around 17 or so when he was sealed to the tree and fifty years after, adding the few years on his journey for revenge.
An vast feeling rushed into his stomach and he knew that he was changing. He stood and looked at his reflection in the lake, being able to see himself in the light of the moon. He fingered his long black hair, and it was swept out of his hands by a gust of wind.
He then decided to return to his home, with Kagome. He knew she'd be worried about him if he didn't come back. He saw a figure, slumped underneath a tree, their neck stood upright on the trunk, as if they were thrown back. His feet were making sloshing sounds, and he felt his sandals immersed in a warm liquid, he immediately knew it was blood. He walked quickly to the figure, the moon ableing him to tell it was a woman. He gently lifted her into his arms, still possessing strength as a human. He tilted her head towards him, and he could see the warm face of Kikyo, his ex lover. After Naraku's defeat, she gained her life, Sango gained her brother's life, Miroku was freed of his wind tunnel, and Inuyasha hadn't gotten anything but pure revenge, but he was okay with that. She seemed alive, he could see the rise and fall of her chest. He knew he had to return with her. He couldn't leave her there.
But a feeling in his mind said, 'You don't wanna leave her for your own reasons'
'Nonsense, I love Kagome. Remember? And I'm over our relationship. So is she. So even if there was something there, which there isn't, it would just have to remain at lust.'
Kagome rushed to him in the clearing of the doorway. He was covered in her blood, and he quickly put her down on a futon. "Inuyasha!" She cried, hugging him tightly around the neck. "What happened?" She asked worriedly. He couldn't help but let a smile grace his lips. He loved when she worried, especially about him. "Nothing, Kagome. I found her against a tree, and she was bleeding terribly, I don't know what from . I thought you could help." She smiled at his sincerity and began to tend to the hurt girl. But she couldn't help the pang in her heart when she remember that this was Kikyo, her fiancee's ex lover, and he had brought her home. But she convinced herself to have a little more reliance in Inuyasha, he had, after all, proposed to her.
He couldn't sleep. Kagome's attitude bothered him, he could tell she was nervous because of his action of allowing his ex in his home. He wrapped his arms tightly around her and whispered softly to the air, " Nothing's going on anymore, Kagome. I love you, only you." The next morning he awoke, Kagome was gone from the house. He didn't mind much, she was always off on morning walks. But there was an unknown reason to why else he didn't mind. He walked into the next room and saw that Kikyo was up, and facing the wall. She looked as if she was contemplating something important.
"Are you okay?" he found himself asking, she turned to look at him.
"I guess. I just never expected to see you again. At least in my alive nature." She replied, her voice gently soothing his ears, which were twitching on his head.
"I never did expect to see you alive." He said airily.
"So, you're married to Kagome?" She asked. It surprised him that she didn't say anything about Kagome being her reincarnate.
"No. We're engaged. Gonna be married soon though." He said calmly, looking at her. She still had the same priestess look, but she no longer looked or felt cold. He noticed that last night. She looked surprisingly happy, and it bothered him to see her like this.
"What happened to you?" He asked, taking the tension from the air.
"I was attacked by a demon bear. It slashed me in the side hard, which was resulted in you finding me near that tree. I was near that tree, right?" I nodded, unable to find my voice. 'She looked so beautiful when she was worried' He thought, reminding him of Kagome. He shook his head, trying to clear it of that thought.
"I'm-I'm gonna go look for- Kagome." He said nervously. She nodded and he walked out.
'What made me so nervous?' He asked himself.
'I think your lusting after her now. Listen to me, I'm your conscience.'
'But, I'm in love with Kagome. I can't love Kikyo.'
'I didn't say you loved her, I said you lusted after her.'
'But I can't do that either.' He decided.
'Why not? It's what you want. That's what lust is. Getting what you want.'
He stopped listening to his voice in the middle of the forest. He then realized that he really hadn't come to look for Kagome and returned to see how Kikyo was. She smiled warmly at him, and it sent a chill up his spine.
"Couldn't find her." He told her. Her smile lingered.
"Didn't want you to." She said, drawing herself closer to him. He could feel his racing heartbeat, his blood rushing through his veins, trying to help it to his brain faster. He couldn't quite figure out what to do.
"What-What do you mean? Who didn't want me to find her?" He asked her, feeling her hot breath on his face.
"Me." She said, kissing him alluringly. He discovered that he couldn't move himself from her, and found himself responding avidly to her kisses. He kissed her hard, pushing her from the room, into his tangled bed, where he continued to passionately kiss her. She softly tugged at his haori, loosing the knots and pulling it off of him. She began pulled his shirt off, laying kisses over his firm stomach. He took the front of her kimono and pulled it toward him, smashing her soft lips with his hard ones. He pulled the cotton fabric from her and gently kissed her again, forgetting everything in that moment.
Kagome found herself in front of the familiar cave of the wolf demons. She ahd walked here every morning to greet Koga.
"Kagome! How's everything? Inuyasha's tiring you?" He asked smugly. She didn't reply, but just kissed him.
"Up to our daily routine now, are we?' He asked her as he pulled from the kiss.
She said, "I just want to forget about Inuyasha right now. He has Kikyo with him now, and it's making me jealous. They're not doing anything, it's just me."
And she kissed him, pouring herself into him, allowing herself to give in to him. He had always wanted Kagome, and this was only making him happier. He quickly rid her of her clothes and she had surprisingly rid him of his clothing quickly also. She kissed him in destitution wanting to satisfy herself. She groaned as he slowly entered her. She had never loved Koga, and he knew that. He enjoyed that she came to him for this. She kissed him, hard, trying not to yell out in pleasure, for Inuyasha might hear her as he rocked her body with rapid motions. She felt her inside reach their maximum and his liquid course her body. Prickles of desire and pleasure hit her hard and she suddenly didn't want to leave him.
"I'm sorry, Koga, i have to go." Kagome answered, all ready dressed. She began walking home.
Inuyasha found himself with his arms around Kikyo, and he felt so complete. He didn't want to leave her, not like this. He wanted to stay with her forever, and he realized that he loved her. He couldn't be with Kagome and he felt his old problem of Kikyo or Kagome slither back around his shoulders. He heard the door open nad was greeted with a ruffled up Kagome. She stared at him and suddenly began screaming at him. He pulled his shirt and pants on.
"What are you doing, Inuyasha? With her?"
"I could ask you the same thing Kagome. You have Koga's scent on you. I smell it. You did something with him too. I've noticed it everyday. But I thought I was being paranoid. So you have been leading me on. I smell it. The scent of arousal and pleasure."
He turned away from her, feeling tears stinging his eyes. He had never cried, not for a long time, since his mother's death, and forgot what it felt like to cry.
"I'm breaking it off. I realized it myself. I didn't feel up to content with you, Kagome. I felt cheated. You took in all of my information and never told me anything about yourself. I thought I loved you. And I did. I used to. But I noticed before, that I was only telling myself that and I wasn't truly happy. It has to stop. I want to be with someone who loves me. Someone who will tell me everything. I don't wanna be in a lying relationship. I can't deal with it."
The tears began pouring from his eyes.
"I don't know what I was thinking when I proposed, Kagome. I'm sorry for betraying you, but I was going to break it with you when you came home. If you ever did. But I think if I never found Kikyo, you would take you and Koga's relationship to the grave. But I can't just dwell on my past. Everything I'm saying is now drifting into the past, Kagome. You live by each second, not each day. And I can't live like this for another second."
She walked to him and put a hand on his shoulder. He flinched away from it, as if it would burn him. In a few seconds, she removed the beaded toothed necklace from her ex fiancee's neck. She watched as he walked from the house, for a walk. With Kikyo. He made a stop to the wolf demon cave.
"Koga, I'm here to tell you, go live your life with Kagome, I've given her to you. I know what she's been doing, and you can have her." He said softly.
Kikyo reached up and dried his tears with the back of her hand, and took his hand and softly kissed it, lacing her fingers with his. He smiled, through all of his hurt, through all of his pain, through all of his deceit and lies, through all of his misery. Because he was with Kikyo. And he loved her.
He recently found out that Koga and Kagome had married because of her carrying his child. He had gone to visit them, with his fiancee Kikyo. Kagome looked up at him and smiled.
"Can we at least try and be friends, Inuyasha?"
"You were friends with Koga, and that turned out wrong."
"You know what I mean."
"I guess so Kagome. but you know what?"
"What?"
"I'm in love, I mean truly in love. With Kikyo. And nothing's going to break it. I've accepted that we're over and that we've both moved on, and I worry for everything. For the sanity of ourselves, and I wonder if I can ever put all of my trust into Kikyo. I do love her, I'm not unsure of that, after me putting my trust in you because I thought I loved you, well, you know what happened."
"Yeah. And Inuyasha, I apologize to you, for making you go through all of that in our relationship. I know it was terrible, cause I felt horrible and you felt way worse than me. I never meant for any of this to happen, because I also thought that I loved you. But I never realized that my rendezvous with Koga were out of love. I never realized that I wasn't just attracted to Koga. That I loved him. And I couldn't help myself but not to see him everyday. So, what were you going to say before I gave my apologizing speech Inuyasha?"
"I was going to say, that even if we are friends, and become the best of friends again, like we were a long time ago, that nothing would change." She only nodded.
"Would it ever be the same?" She asked.
