The Power of Friendship

By Light-Eco-Sage

Rated: PG-13 for language, JK romance, violence, and LOTS of agastliness!

Summery: Jak has faced many horrors in his life… though none of those compare to his newest horror!

Disclaimer: I don't own Jak and Daxter. However, any OC's and anything like that belong to me! No stealy without my permission!

LES: Note: This is the sequel of my story 'Not Everything Is As It Seems' so I highly suggest you go read that one first! But, here is the Cliff Notes version:

1: Jak's life was saved by a Metal-Head named Firenza, a Metal-Head Princess, and heir of the new Metal-Head Leader that replaced Kor, Leader Zotz. She was banished by Zotz for saving Jak's life.

2: Jak and Keira aren't virgins. (grins)

3: Jak hunts Firenza, but ends up agreeing to help her kill her brother, Zotz.

4: Jak's fate is somehow tied to an Ancient Prophecy that was embedded in his memory, passed down from Mar himself. The Prophecy was ultimately fulfilled… except for Jak becoming King.

5: The Metal-Head are actually the vengeful spirits of the dead. (Ex: Firenza, before she died, was Sara, a woman who lived in Mar's time. She married Mar and began the mother of the Mar line, thus, she is Jak's ancestor.)

6: Mar was actually a Precursor who fled though time to escape the Metal-Head/Precursor War and the Precursor's destruction.

7: Jak is a Precursor-Elf hybrid. Though he will never be as powerful as a real Precursor, he has the ability to transform himself into his Precursor self at will.

8: Jak, using an Ancient Precursor Sword and his powers, destroyed Zotz and Firenza became the Metal-Head Leader.

9: Firenza is in debt to Jak. She has promised to come to his aid any time he asks.

Well, so much for that insanely long author's note… On with the story!

Chapter I: Whubvaii

(Universe, Fortran Galaxy, Mesa Solar System: Elves' Home Sun System. P.S. Made up!)

"Explain to me why you have dragged us to this forsaken system." A huge creature, a Dark Eco creature, boomed from his chamber aboard his ship. He was made out of Dark Eco, for this creature was a Dark Maker, the most evil beings in the universe. Dark Makers used to be Precursors, but after their exposure to Dark Eco, they mutated horribly. Now, they prowled the universe, un-making the worlds that the late Precursors had so lovingly made. "The Precursors never built anything out here to my knowledge!" The Dark Maker Leader, for he was their Leader, roared. His minions coward, and for good reason. For the Dark Maker Leader was the oldest and most powerful being in the galaxy… thus, he was not known for his mercy.

"Your Majesty, forgive us," One brave Dark Maker Trooper spoke up, "But we do believe that the Precursors built this planet." A holographic projection appeared showing a large planet with at least three big continents. "There is a large amount of Eco and Precursor machinery on this planet, that alone should be enough to prove its Precursor origins. But there's more…" The holographic image changed to show long texts in the Ancient Precursor language. "We all know the Precursors mention a 'Planet of the Green Sun' numerous times in their writings. This planet is part of a sun system that orbits a green sun, one of five green suns in the universe." The Dark Maker paused to let this sink in. "And that is not all." The hologram of the planet reappeared. A small dot appeared on the southern tip of the medium-sized continent. "What you see marked is a single native, 'Elves' they call themselves. But this one's genetic make-up is different than the rest of his kind. He carries Precursor DNA. We believe he is a hybrid, part 'Elvin' part Precursor…"

"We haven't seen a living Precursor in eons." The Dark Maker Leader said. "And this 'hybrid' is all that's left? What a pity…" He paused. "I see an opportunity! We destroy this planet, the hybrid goes with it, and with him dies the last of the Precursor race!" The Dark Maker Leader laughed. "Good job! We'll destroy this planet and the Precursor race once and for all! Set a coarse for the 'Planet of the Green Sun!"

(A/N: I don't usually introduce the bad guys right at the beginning, but I'll make an exception…)

(Haven City)

It had been a year since Jak had returned from the Metal-Head Nest after killing the Metal-Head Leader, Zotz, and come home to his own funeral. But, Jak was alive… more alive than he had ever been. In fact…

"Keira." Jak whispered softly to the woman he loved as she lay next to him. She stirred slightly, her hair was a mess from last night 'activities,' but Jak, in all honestly, didn't mind one bit.

"Jak?" Keira breathed, stretching briefly and sighing with pleasure. "How is it you never cease to amaze me?"

"It's my nature." Jak answered softly, as Keira was still half asleep. "I can't stop amazing people."

Keira's lips briefly met Jak's in a passionate kiss, when they parted, she whispered in his ear. "What is your next big stunt going to be, then?"

Taking the Throne… Jak thought. But, then again, it had been a year since he told Ashelin to call on him for anything, but she only asked him for small, stupid favors. No more Metal-Heads put Jak out of his primary job of Metal-Head Slayer. So, he spent most of his time racing for Keira's Racing Team. However, Jak was beginning to wonder if that last line of the Prophecy was true at all. He didn't allow these thoughts to show though, only four people knew about his destiny. And they were Firenza, Daxter, Onin, and Pecker. Instead, Jak shrugged and said, "When something comes up, I'll step up to the challenge."

"Hmmm…" Keira sighed, showing that she was just pretending to listen. Instead, she snuggled closer to Jak like he was her last hope. She laid her head against Jak's chest and his head rested on hers. They sat there for a moment like this, just enjoying each other's warmth, the occasional kiss exchange. During one particularly passionate and tonguey kiss, an explosion of sound sounded though the room.

"AUGH! My eyes! I'll never be clean again!"

Jak and Keira recognized the voice instantly. Keira sighed with annoyance as Jak stopped kissing her and the moment was most defiantly ruined. "Damnit, Daxter!" Jak swore at the floating Talk-Box, Daxter's horrified face appeared on the screen. "Do you have my schedule somewhere? 'Cause you always seem to know when I DON'T want to be interrupted!"

"Yeah, I've got it right here. And I'll give it back to you… if you use you're Precursor powers to turn me human!"

Jak growled. "Damnit, Daxter, I told you that I can't!" Jak growled. "Only a full Precursor could attempt that sort of transformation!"

Daxter ignored Jak, "Is this some sort of punishment for interrupting your 'moments'? If so, I'm SORRY! Okay? I'll never do it again!"

"I told you I CAN'T DO IT!" Jak roared at the floating Talk-Box. He grabbed it right out of the air and threw it into the nearest wall, where it promptly shattered.

Keira stared at the broken ruminates of the Talk-Box. "You know I'm going to have to fix that later." She said finally.

"Yeah, 'later' being the operative word." Jak said, moving in for another kiss. But before he reached his destination, the almost-intact Talk-Box began to cackle.

"…ak… people want… ing… come… Palace… ri… way…" an unfamiliar voice said.

"What was that about?" Keira asked, dodging Jak to stare at the Talk-Box.

"Probably nothing important." Jak said, half annoyed.

"I think we should go to the Palace." Keira said, getting out of Jak's bed to get dressed.

"It's probably nothing important." Jak repeated sourly. "Remember what Torn wanted the last time he called me to the Palace?"

"Okay, I'll admit that was a bit stupid…" Keira admitted as she pulled a white shirt over her head. "But…"

"A bit stupid' is an understatement." Jak snorted. "Remember, an Eco bulb had gone out in the Palace Throne room and, apparently, someone was too lazy to get a ladder out and do it themselves! So what do they do? Get someone who can fly! What do you think they want this time? The outside windows dirty?" Jak stopped his ranting and sighed. "If my Precursor form were a bit more powerful, people wouldn't treat me like this, and I'd be able to change Daxter back…"

"Don't blame yourself." Keira said. "You are half-Precursor, which is much more than anyone else can boast. Besides, be happy that you're only half-Precursor. If you were a full Precursor, who'd probably be dead along with the rest of their race."

Jak smiled at Keira and, not for the first time, appreciated having a girlfriend like Keira. "Thanks, Keir." He said as he got out of bed to join Keira in a search for pants. "It's about time I learned to wash windows anyway…" Jak sighed, Keira laughed.

(Palace)

"Finally! You've come!" Jak and Keira were greeted by Ashelin, the Governess of Haven City and one of their personal friends, in the Throne room. Jak couldn't help glancing at the Eco bulbs and the windows. All the Eco bulbs were working and the windows seemed clean enough, so Jak breathed a sigh of relief.

"Yeah." Jak said absentmindedly, staring at Ashelin. He could almost smell the nervousness coming off Ashelin in great waves. This got Jak's interest up. It must be a mission. "What is it?"

"What do you mean, 'What is it?'" Ashelin asked. "Didn't you get my message?"

"Oh, the message…" Jak said. "See, I only got the part about coming to the Palace. I didn't get the rest of it."

Ashelin sighed, she defiantly didn't want to be anywhere near Jak when she told him what she wanted, which was the point of the message. But, now she was going to have to tell him in person. She sent a silent prayer to the Precursors to keep her safe. "Jak, there is trouble in Haven City. Some people are… unhappy with the 'state of things.' They don't want a Praxis ruling the City." Ashelin paused. "What I'm really trying to say is… They want a Mar…" Ashelin paused, ready for the explosion. Even Keira took a step away from Jak even though she knew he would never hurt her… but you just couldn't be to sure about 'Dark Jak.' This wasn't helped by the fact that Jak probably had the shortest fuse of any man alive, and when the fuse went off; people disappeared off the face of the planet… literally. However, Jak's reaction was one that neither Ashelin nor Keira expected… Jak laughed.

"Well, it's about time!" He laughed so hard that tears of mirth ran down his face. He was doubled up laughing his head off and Ashelin wondered for a second if Jak had lost his mind… Keira wondered the same thing.

"Who are you, and what have you done with Jak?" Ashelin asked.

Jak ignored her. "I was beginning to think the last line of the Prophecy was false!" Jak laughed.

"Prophecy?" Ashelin's brain barely registered the word as she was still in a state of shook from Jak's reaction.

Keira, however, had a quicker recovery time as she was used to Jak's surprises. "What Prophecy?" She asked.

"The one that foretold my last adventure." Jak explained, starting to calm down. Then he repeated the last line of the Prophecy in the Haven dialect so they could understand. "Akmjar, step forth as the new King." (A/N: If you take the letters of 'Akmjar' and switch them around, you get 'Jak Mar.')

"You knew you were to become King?" Keira asked. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"To know one's destiny is both a blessing and a curse. It shouldn't be abused or shared with anyone." Jak said, casually spouting a Precursor proverb that even the Sages were unaware of. But that's Jak the Half-Precursor for you. "Daxter and Firenza knew… but only because they were with me. Onin and Pecker also knew… but they already know a lot… even if they don't let on much. Onin knew before I knew."

"So…" Ashelin ventured once it became clear that Jak was NOT going to rip her into bite-sized pieces. "What do you say? Are you going to become King?"

"In the Nest…" Jak began. "I met Mar himself. He told me that the Precursors destined me to be King eons ago. He also told me that the Precursors take destiny VERY seriously, and they wouldn't give someone a destiny they couldn't handle. It may be tough… but if the Precursors will me to become King… then I will."

"So… this is your next amazing stunt, huh?" Keira asked.

"And probably not my last." Jak laughed. "Wanna go 'celebrate?" Jak asked. Ashelin rolled her eyes in a disgusted manner before leaving the two lovers to their own doings.

Keira walked up seductively to Jak and grabbed his shirt by the collar. "Well, what are you waiting for…" Keira paused before adding, "Cupcake?" (A/N: Holy Mother of Mar… what a pet name!)

Jak blushed furiously at Keira's pet name for him. "Don't call me that." He said half-heartedly; if ANYONE ever found out Keira called him 'Cupcake' he could kiss his tough-guy reputation good-bye.

"What are you going to do, Cupcake?" Keira asked, putting extra emphasis on 'Cupcake.'

"How 'bout I get us a room?" Jak said.

Keira pretended to think hard on this offer. "Fine, I won't call you 'Cupcake' anymore." Jak picked her up in his strong arms and made to carry her out of the Throne Room. Then Keira whispered in Jak's ear. "Honey-Bunny!" Jak growled.

LES: Yeahness for disgustingly cute pet names! Hahaha! 'Cupcake!' 'Honey-Bunny!' I think my History Teacher is rubbing off on me. He uses 'Honey-Bunny' all the time.

Jak: Nooo! No pet names!

LES: I can't help myself. Chapter II coming soon!

Chapter II Summery: Jak is set to become King, but someone isn't very happy about this. A hug to whoever can guess who it is! The Agastliness begins! MUHAHAHAHA! My toes are tingling with excitment!
