Harper's Demons-Part 2

Hello! Sorry it took me so long to post this. I was having trouble with my plot. I know it was a bit confusing, but I promise to clear it up. This idea just popped into my head, and wouldn't leave me alone. Thank you for everyone that reviewed, it means a lot to me. Okay...here you go. Not sure if the techno mumbo jumbo I'm about to spit out is true or not, so please bare with me. Sorry about the 0's by the way. I've changed!

The nurse shuffled into the back room, her teeth biting down hard on her lip. Another worker looked up from reading, and saw his friend anxious.

"Hey, what's wrong? The family didn't take it well?" The guy's baritone voice reached her, calming her ever so slightly.

"Well, not any better than anyone else takes it. You remember that man that came through who was shot in his room?" She asked, making sure the door behind her was closed so the 'family' couldn't hear.

"Yeah, short, blonde mudfoot, with a dataport. Seamus Harper, I think his name was."

The girl nodded, walking up to the nearest consol. It was nearly 3 o'clock in the morning, but they were used to the night shift.

"I left out some details to the family, and now I feel bad."

The guy cocked his head to one side, then got up and gave her a gentle hug. "What do you mean, details? The guy shot himself, right?"

The nurse bit her lip, avoiding the piercing glare of her best friend. "Well, yes. The entrance was angled up through his ribs, and the exit wound was higher. No one can intentionally shoot another person with that angle. But I found other fingerprints on the gun, but they're fading faster than his. Like a ghost or something. I checked the security cameras just to be sure, but nothing came up."

She fiddled with the screen until an image of the hallway outside of Harper's room came up. She pressed play, then quickly paused it. "Look" She pointed to a light distortion on the screen, right by the doorway into the room. "It's like something was there, but the next second, it's gone."

Her eyes met confused and concerned eyes. "The biggest thing is that Harper was plugged into the matrix when we found his body. He was plugged into the drift's main computer when he was shot. Their bodies aren't supposed to move out of their own will when they are not there. Either someone else shot him, someone moved his hands and squeezed the trigger for him, or this is a groundbreaking discovery."

"You mean, his mind is still in the matrix!" The guy asked, astounded. This was all too much for the part time night helper. The girl merely nodded. "And the main computer won't let me in or listen to any of my commands, so I can't check."

Trance looked into the possible future threads as she tried to figure out what happened. After the whole crew was so confused that they could only cry, Tyr had promised that he would tell everything he knew in 10 minutes in Hydroponics. He was hiding something. Trance should know, she was hiding as well, 24/7.

Most of the threads led to him being alive, but the details were hazy. Tyr could explain how the death had happened, and Trance could explain that she thought Harper was alive, but she didn't know where.

Harper's mental form was wandering around the drift's (that the crew was on) matrix. For once, the main avatar was actually a guy. Harper couldn't talk to him no matter how hard he tried, but could only watch the other man's overpowering form looking down on him. At least he hadn't kicked him out yet. Harper reasoned it was because he wasn't messing with any data folders. He felt horrible, but knew that if he felt this bad in the matrix, his body must feel a hell of a lot worse.

Harper wandered through the streams of data, trying desperately to remember anything. He couldn't remember any memory before he had found himself in this green matrix. He couldn't remember who he was, where he was, what had happened, or who his friends were. Seamus Harper was lost.

Okay, more mystery. I hope you liked it and weren't too confused. I have to go and work on 'Emotions' now! Hope to write more soon, if you review and say you like it, and you want me to keep going!
