Friendly Enemies-Part 7

Howdy and Hello! Thanks for sticking with this, and I hope tha chapters are long/short enough! He-He!

Georgia felt her hood dropping over her eyes. She brushed the hood up, only to have the rain that was collected in the rim, fall in her face. Spluttering, she stumbled in the mud below her.

She tried to steady herself so she wouldn't fall down, but was having a difficult time with Lucky in her arms. Through all the unpleasant jerks of her arms, the cat didn't complain. It was like it knew that she was having a difficult time, and didn't want to put extra pressures on her by it's meows of protest.

Georgia turned a corner in the forest, and tripped over a tree root sticking out in the soft ground in front of her. She fell with the rain, and felt the mud splatter her face. Lucky gave a hiss, but not directed toward her.

She was hungry and tired. She had a bit of food left, but she needed to ration it, because her mother had once told her how large the forest was. She didn't know how long she would be in this forest with just the food she carried.

In frustration, Georgia started crying. Her salty tears fell down her cheeks, mixing with the cool drops of the rain.

Lucky meowed, then pushed it's head lightly against hers. She petted it, and it curled up by her upper chest, by her neck. She felt a rush of warmth from it's fur, and she felt a little better.

"Great idea, Lucky!" She said, following the cat's lead, and falling asleep, completely ignoring the falling rain that felt like small bullets.

Georgia awoke to a bright, sunny afternoon. Her back was to a large oak tree, and Lucky was unconsciously pawing at the leaves, deep in a dream.

Georgia rubbed her temples, and couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Something, or someone, was watching her. She could feel it.

She looked around, and saw that she was in a glade, surrounded by trees. It was like an oasis between the desert of trees. Below the trees were bushes, that bristled it's leaves in mock.

She saw something red, and that was enough. She got up quickly, and jumped into the bush. She saw a blur of red, and felt the person fall to the forest ground.

Looking down, she saw that it was a troll. He had light skin, almost unnatural, and it looked like he didn't get in the sun much. He had bright puffy red hair, and teeth like most trolls that Georgia had seen in the books at the cabin.

He smelled like hot leather, and she resisted the urge to hold her nose and back away. He grunted, then pushed her off. "What do ya think your doin'!" He said angrily, pulling himself to his full height, which wasn't big for a troll. He was about her same size.

"Sorry." She said, with not much remorse. Her mother had told her of the 'evil of trolls', and how they were at war. She eyed him wearily. "What are you doing, hiding! Where's the rest of your group? Your...kind!" She asked venomously, most unlike herself, but she didn't like being spied on.

"I'm an outcast, okay!" He said gruffly, pulling his shirt down, and she saw a glimpse of a broad chest, with little hairs poking out.

"What do you mean, 'an outcast'!" She asked, more politely and in concern. "Why do you think! Look at me. I'm short, and 'no troll is short.' I'm light skinned and that's 'uncommon'. I have red hair that's 'only found in the girl trolls.' " He scoffed, shaking his head sadly.

"Then, when I grew an ugly duckling, I started to have different views on certain subjects. Next thing, I'm banished from the kingdom." He finished, looking at her fully for the first time.

"Well, we are alike. I'm on the run." She said, smiling and shaking his hand. "Where are you headed, and what are you running from?" He asked curiously.

"I don't know where, just as far away from the center of the forest as possible. And I don't know what is hunting me, but all I know is that they aren't afraid to attack me, if they have the chance."

He gave a smile, showing his front canine teeth, and said, "Well, it doesn't sound too bad. Maybe we can travel together." She smiled, but then a frown crossed. "I don't have much food left, and I don't know how far till we get out of the forest, and find food."

The troll shook his head, then said, "I have a bit of food I've scavenged. It's about a day till the end of the forest, to the east, but you were headed west."

She smiled apologetically. "Hi, I'm Georgia." She said, shaking his hand again. "Bundle." He replied, embarrassed by his name.

"I'm just glad that my parents gave me something normal. They didn't give me anything physically good, but at least my name starts with a 'b'. Though, usually the name is a combination of two. It runs in our family." He added, to her curious look.

Bundle jumped as Lucky came out of the shadows, and walked predatorily up to him. He coward, but then started to pet it when he saw it was friendly. As she did the introductions to her cat, she couldn't help but think that he didn't act much like a troll. But...he was a castaway. A stowaway. An outcast.

The king troll watched as his sister paced, furious. Even though he was more powerful, no matter what species, when the girl was angry, no one was happy.

"Blabberwort, calm down. We will find your son." Burly, the troll king, said reassuringly, as he nodded to his brother, Bluebell, who also nodded frantically.

"I'll kill him!" She shouted, taking a worn piece of leather, that it wouldn't matter to be rough on because it was so old, and throwing it across the room. It landed at the feet of the thrown, and Burly just shook his head.

Bluebell hurried forward, picking up the beloved piece of leather. "Yes, Burly and Bluebell will help. And all of the troll nation, to find him a bring him home." He said, and looked as the dagger from her eyes were shot at him. He squeaked, then went back to the thrown, and the safety of his brother's shadow.

"He left, taking most of my money, my transportation. He will alert every power from here to the other kingdoms. I'll kill him! He wasn't supposed to leave. I got a little heated by his arguments about our views, and that...he left."

She turned after her rant, and pointed a stubby finger toward her younger brother. "You! The weirdness in this family comes from you!" She said, shaking her finger toward him.

"Now now, Blabberwort, don't go pointing fingers and blaming people. We will get him back."

"Good." She said in an undertone. "Then, he can get spanked, grounded, and killed for running away."

Woah! Do you get the connections! I always liked the three trolls, so of course I had to add them. Bundle is Blabberwort's son, but he said he was banished, while she is saying he ran away. He-He! You will just have to wait! I'm keeping up with this and posting new chapters. I have a lot of other stories, around 50. But I just love this story, and I want to keep going.

Sorry if it takes awhile for my posts. I'm coming up with new stories every day, and I'm trying to keep up with all the rest of my stories, and put up new chapters, but it's hard to juggle all that!

This chapter was like a series of books called, Beyond the Western Sea. Really good, you should read it...if you want! Just a suggestion!
