And Now She is Gone: Meg's Thoughts

A free-verse poem by: Linwe Ringeril

I took her for granted,

I paid her no heed,

I despised her "perfection,"

Because of my greed.

When she needed a sister

I wasn't there.

Now I seem to need her

And she is nowhere.

If I had appreciated

What I'd had at the time,

Then regret wouldn't ring,

Through my skull like a chime.

I thought she was perfect,

But now I can see,

That she was never perfect,

To any but me.
