She’s woken by Adam in the dead of the night. “Fi? Fi, get up. Come on, we’ve got to go.”

“Go where?”

“I don’t know. Pack your things.”

He’s moving hurriedly around the room, stuffing whatever he can into a small duffel. He throws another on the bed. “Fi, come on! We’ve got to get out of here.”

“What’s going on?”

He doesn’t look at her. “Harry called. There’s been a military coup. We need to get to the safe house.”

“What? I don’t under—”

“Fiona, come on!”

She does as she’s told.
