A long overdue briefing

"What am I looking at?" Jack Ryan asked as he walked into the situation room: the main screen showed a satellite image of a huge crater, "Please god tell me it's not another nuke!"

"No sir, it's worse than that." A young army officer came to attention, "Captain Riley Finn, Special Operations, Sir."

"Talk to me Captain." Ryan took his seat, "Where is this?"

"Sunnydale California. And it's not a nuke, it's worse: it's a Hellmouth."

"A what?"

"A Hellmouth. Didn't you get that briefing?"

"Evidently not."

"A Hellmouth is, like the name implies, a gateway to hell."

"Oh boy…"
