I was bored and felt like writing something different then my fic, 'Harry Potter and the Death Eater's Challenge' for once, so here this is! It's probably stupid, but I can always edit it later. Tell me what you think!

The Final Battle

Ginny sighed and stared out the window. He still wasn't back. It seemed as if it had been ages, but it had only been a couple of hours since he said goodbye. A shadow loomed over the Forbidden Forest, and she shuddered to think what was happening in there.

"I don't want you to leave your room, Ginny." He had insisted before he gave her a final kiss farewell. "I wouldn't be able to bear it if you were to get hurt."

But he didn't understand she felt the same way. If anything happened to Harry, she would surely rather die than live without him there.

She had tried to convince him, but Hermione and Ron had come to his defense.

"You're my sister, and I don't want you getting hurt!"

"Ginny, we don't need you out there. We'll be fine. You'll see."

She knew they were trying to keep her from danger, but she wasn't the little eleven year old she was five years ago. She was in her sixth year and deserved to be treated that way.

Making up her mind, she barged through her door and ran down the stairs. When she entered the common room, she found it deserted. Everyone had been sent to the Great Hall, but Ginny had refused. Harry told her to stay in her room, and that was what she had intended to do.

But this waiting was too much. She needed to be out there, to know what was happening, to help. She ran through the halls, down the stairs, and out the main doors, not paying attention to Filch's yells of, 'Come back here!'

She was deep into the forest before she heard anything. Suddenly, a flash of green light shone through the trees. Extremely worried, Ginny rushed into a clearing to see a very unwelcome sight.

Harry was struggling to stand against a tree, Ron was standing petrified on the other side of the clearing, and Hermione was lying on the ground bleeding from a huge cut in her side and coughing out blood. One more look confirmed to fact that Harry was close to death, bleeding from head to toe due to injury. As much of a coward as Ron was, he had been attacked also and had cuts above his eyes and on his cheek. Voldemort stood in the middle, laughing. He wasn't scratched, though he did look out of breath.

Ginny began crying. Ron saw her and motioned for her to leave, but she didn't listen. She shakily took out her wand and pointed it to the Dark Lord, losing control of all of her senses.

"AVADA KADAVRA!"

She was so surprised to hear the curse come out of her own mouth that she almost fell over. Because of her jerked movement, it hit a tree. Voldemort whirled around and laughed even more seeing a young girl standing there. He sent her flying backward into an oak. When her head hit the giant tree, she lost consciousness.

"GINNY!" Harry screamed as loud as he could. The pain in his scar was growing steadily worse, and he could barely see. He heard the menacing laugh to the right of him and knew what he had to do.

Having lost his wand earlier, he grabbed a spear laying to the right of him, dropped by a Death Eater when Hermione stunned him after he stabbed her.

He glimpsed Ron trying his best to heal Hermione and dragging Ginny to safety. They were both well aware this was his battle now that the Death Eaters were taken care of, and Ron nodded at him.

Harry charged at Voldemort. Caught off guard, the sorcerer screamed when the spear came in contact with his neck. Harry tried to pull it out to attack again, but the stone was stuck. Voldemort looked like a chicken running around who had just lost its head, knowing that if the spear wasn't taken out, he would choke to death, which was what Harry had intentioned.

Harry didn't relax until his enemy collapsed to the ground. Then he did the same.

Ron looked sorrowfully at his friends and sister. He and Hermione were the only ones remaining conscious. He heard Hermione whisper something and quickly turned to her.

"What is it, Hermione?" he asked, worried. The spear must have been cursed, because every time he tried to heal her cut, it deepened.

Hermione coughed and whispered, "Take care of Harry. I'll be fine."

He looked at her sorrowfully, but when she insisted a second time, he stood to walk over to Harry. His friend was still breathing, but scarcely.

Ron didn't know what to do. There was no way he could get them all to the hospital wing in time.

At that moment, Dumbledore and Snape appeared out of no where. Ron struggled up from his knees.

"Professor!" he exclaimed. Dumbledore made a motion for him to be quiet and began levitating Harry. Snape levitated Ginny and turned to Ron.

Nodding his head in Hermione's direction, he drawled, "Take care of the know-it-all."

Ron scowled at him. How could he still be so cold when they had just defeated Voldemort?

He approached Hermione to see her looking straight up at him, smiling faintly.

"Thanks, Ron." She murmured.

"What did I do?" he asked. He really hadn't done anything useful.

"For giving me the best times of my life. Adventures, I mean." She continued, coughing again. "I'm going to miss you."

"Hermione, you'll be fine!" he insisted, a bit of eagerness in his voice, because he knew it probably wasn't true. "Madam Pomfrey will take care of everything!"

She shook her head, coughed, closed her eyes, and whispered. "I love you, Ron."

"I love you too." He said, tears streaming down his face. As he picked her up, she left him forever.

He struggled to carry her body back to the school. Hoping that there was a tiny chance she was still alive, he placed her on a bed in the hospital wing. As he left the ward to join the other students in the Great Hall while Harry and Ginny were healed, he knew it was hopeless. He had lost the only one he had ever loved, and would never love anyone else.

Ginny woke to see Harry in the bed next to her. She sat straight up and was relieved to see him breathing.

When she looked past him to the next bed and saw Hermione, she knew her best friend hadn't survived.

Crying, she slowly got out of bed and sat next to Harry, her back to her friend's body. As he awakened, Harry blinked and turned to her. He smiled.

"I told you not to come." He said, teasingly. She smiled.

"Harry, I love you. I couldn't sit there waiting."

He smiled again and tried to look past her. "Where are Ron and Hermione?"

Ginny sighed. "Ron's fine. He's in the Great Hall, waiting for us."

"And Hermione?" he asked, looking worried.

"She's…she's gone."

Harry looked stunned at this piece of news. Ginny cried again. Hermione had been wrong. It wasn't fine.

It was alarming that something you treasured so much as friendship could disappear in the blink of an eye.

A/N I don't even know exactly what that was! I just wrote whatever came to my mind, and I know it sucked, but it was just random thoughts jumbled together. Please review, though, cause this is kinda to help me in future stories. ;-)
