He didn’t say a word (and the door closed behind me)

I turn away from him suddenly, clearly signalising that this conversation, this argument, was over. I gave up, washed my hands. Said goodbye to him with just a simple gesture.

Because this was the end, nothing could change the fact that we had drifted too far apart.

But as I walked towards the door, I couldn’t help but hope.

Hope that he would say something. Just one word, was all that was needed.

‘Cause if he did, say the word, I would turn back around, and enclose in my arms, like I had never done before.

Tell him that I loved even though I had never told him.

That he wasn’t just a promise to a long dead master. Tell him that he mattered, and that I truly cared.
