He used to do it too - offend by existing, that is - with his improper young companion and a smile that cannot be moved by demands for propriety. Little river drifter, grown so tall and still so severe, where are you going, with your improper companions and mouth filled with koans that you say and never learn? How strange, don't you think, to see the sun trying to learn to reflect the moon's light! You really are no good at this, you mock serenity, seeming indifference; your master was never so cold, nor so hot as your temper runs.
