A new beginning
The war against the Nomads was bloody. Woads died everywhere and many of the Knights returned to the wall on the path to death. Sienna, Verali, Tosela and Linkin and Jac fought alongside one another….just like in the old days. Padme joined her parents in the battle alongside her fiancé.
As Merlin said….many would die….and so they did. By the end of the battle Tristan stood leaning on his sword watching the fields with a blank expression. It seemed that a silent song passed through the people was they each watched one another. Sienna put her hand in Tristan’s as they watched Merlin bless the dead.
Valcan was burned in the Knights cemetery and his ashes were given to the east wind. It took months for Verali and Gawain to fall out of their state of minds but there was hope for them. The friends and families never gave up on them. Sienna would often find Verali sitting by the Knights graveyard watching the distance. It would take a while but they would pull through.
Padme and Connor married one year after Valcan’s death. In due respect to his memory they waited until Verali and Gawain were comfortable at knowing people were moving on. Sienna was pleased to tell her husband that Padme was pregnant with her first child. It did not go down well with him at first (it took Dagonet and Sienna to hold him back from killing Connor) but he soon offered his congratulations after Sienna coaxed him to accept it; her style.
Lucan married 8 three months after Padme and Connors wedding. It came to everyone’s surprise because no one even knew they had a romance. Happiness for them was growing day by day as 8 told her father she was pregnant. He also had to be sedated by his wife; her style.
Jac and Lamorak married one day after Lucan and 8. They still bickered and fought but now….they were married while they did so. 7 months after their wedding Sienna and Tristan were woken to the sound of breaking pottery and screaming in the hallways. ‘Its your fault you idiot!’ Jac screamed.
‘I’m SORRY! Gods…for the hundredth time! How many times do I have to say it!’
‘I hate you!’
They heard a door slamming. Tristan and Sienna looked at one another and fell back on their bed. ‘Only a bit longer,’ she said with a sigh. ‘She is crazy.’
‘Mmm hmm,’ he said as he kissed her neck.
‘Again?’ she asked with a giggle.
‘Oh yeah.’
Truth be told…life could not be better for them all. To everyone’s huge surprise Verali was pregnant once again. It did not make Valcan’s death any less painful but it brought a new light for Gawain and Verali.
Padme had her wish. She and Connor had the love her parents had. She bore Connor three children. Valcan, the eldest, Monica, the second and little River Phoenix. They could not be happier with their lives as they watched their children grow and their parent’s and families grow older.
As for Sienna and Tristan….they grew old together. They did not stop making love until all hours of the night just because they reached old age. They were still wrapped in each others love which was as true now as it was when they were children in Sarmatia. As their hair greyed and lines appeared on their faces they for some reason became happier. Tristan put down his sword forever when he turned 50. He would often sit in his seat at the Knights table as his brothers drank and laughed in harmony and watch his wife. How lovely she still was and how his love still grew for her; if it were possible.
Sienna never saw Alexei again. He sent her a message all the way from Rome many years after leaving with Francesca. She was happy to hear from him and his letter was welcomed this time. He died at the age of 48 from scarlet fever and Francesca herself thought it kind to send her a letter telling her of the news herself.
