Because I'm a Hufflepuff
By Silver Sailor Ganymede
'Imagine being put in Hufflepuff, I think I'd leave, wouldn't you?'
I can't count how many times I've heard people say things like that to their friends. They think that we Hufflepuffs are all rejects. How wrong they are.
We of Helga's House are, in a way, just as shunned as the Slytherins. We are not brave like the Gryffindors; we are not cunning like the Slytherins; we are not amazingly intelligent like the Ravenclaws. We are the cast-offs, the ones who simply wouldn't fit anywhere else: or so they think.
The reason we are in Hufflepuff is because we are loyal. Loyalty is a trait that few Ravenclaws and no Slytherins or Gryffindors possess. But perhaps I am wrong; Slytherins too are loyal, but only to their House, their Demon Lord and their purity.
However, maybe I am wrong again. Maybe I, as a Hufflepuff, am just as prejudiced against others as others are against me. Honestly, just because I am a Hufflepuff doesn't mean that I'm stupid. We're not as pure and naïve as many would like to think.
But still they hate me. Still they believe I am no good because I'm loyal: because I'm a failure, a misfit: because I'm a Hufflepuff.
(A.N) Even though I'm a Slytherin, a friend of mine is a Hufflepuff, and I thought that I should write something in defence of the Hufflepuffs .
