"I want the death lovers of the world to hear our laughter and grow sad. I want a breath of passion to stir they dust into consciousness, to wake their ashes into pain."

"Revelations"

One-Shot

PRICILLA sat on a swing late one afternoon thinking about the past. About why and how she had ended up here…

He had walked into town just when she had needed him the most. How ironic it was that she needed a bodyguard… an escort… someone to take her away from the people who had called themselves her family. While he, on the other hand, was looking for work… for someone in need of his services.

He was a wanderer in search for a place to call home and she was just someone who needed to get away from what was her home.

She was a girl who needed help to find what she was looking for and he was simply a man who needed something to look for.

And so they met.

It must have been fate. They were on opposite sides, very different from one another. One was searching and the other one running. Yet, in a way they were both searching and running. Maybe that was why it had been so easy for them to 'connect'.

In the end, they were the perfect balance.

ERK was mesmerized by everything about her since the moment the mage had laid eyes on her…

Pricilla sat in the middle of a garden lost in thought.

Erk stood not too far away, watching as the girl stroked the flowers gently, as if with her touch alone she would make them grow.

A gang of five men suddenly appeared before her. They got into a heated argument. It was evident to him that they wanted to take her away. The purple headed male moved closer to the group, curious as to what was it they were saying to upset her.

She saw him approaching them and did not know whether to feel happy or distressed. Granted, he was old enough to know what he was doing… but what if something happened to him? These men were not ordinary soldiers. They did not act following a code of honor. Their only code was to follow their Lord's orders without hesitation. So, without questioning, they would do what 'he' had ordered them to do.

Only this time 'he' had asked for her…

"Excuse me," Erk had said with a calm and confident tone, "I believe she would like to be left alone."

"And who the heck are you?" One of the men had snarled, smirking as he made his way to stand just a couple of steps away from the newcomer.

"Someone you do not want to mess up with," the mage had retaliated undaunted with a smirk of his own.

They had fought and he had won. His spells had broken their swords in seconds, but he had let them escape, which was something that intrigued the girl all the more.

"Any other warrior would have killed them," she had stated curios to know anything and 'everything' about him.

"Well I am not like any other warrior," he had replied smoothly, offering her his hand in order to help her stand. Then, just as she was securely on her feet, he had bowed and introduced himself with a simple, "I'm Erk."

"Pricilla," she had said hurriedly, afraid that he would lose interest if she delayed her answer.

The troubadour had talked and talked and yet he had not mind at all. He wanted to know as much as possible about the girl which had caught his interest so rapidly. The magician knew, even though he did not believe in love at first sight, that she had already caged his heart.

The brunette could not believe her ears… her luck! She hadn't had to ask, on the contrary, he had been the one to offer his assistance.

She had an escort, a friend, and maybe in the future something more…

"What are you thinking about?" he asked as he approached the troubadour who was sitting lazily on an unmoving swing.

She felt butterflies bouncing around her stomach at the sound of his mere voice, and felt herself blush a little before finally turning towards him.

"Just stuff," she answered, flashing him a smile that made his heart skip a beat.

"May I inquire about what?" Erk did not desire to be nosy about her affairs, but they had been through so much. Fighting with the morphs, with Nergal, through Athos' death and the Lords' weddings… And still he felt as though he did not know enough of her! He found himself yearning to know her every thought, hear her every laughter and watch her every smile.

"About…" she stopped and diverted her gaze from his. Her eyes focused instead on her feet, finding them a lot more interesting at that particular moment. She sighed before continuing, "About the story of wanderer who just happened to walked into a certain town by chance and saved a troubled maiden."

His smile widened, but she was unable to see this for she still dared not look at him. His eyes softened considerably as he sat in a swing beside her.

"I know that story too," he said as he saw the sun drowning in the earth's horizon before him. "A man happened to arrive at a town searching for something… anything… and what was his surprise when he found 'everything' he was looking for in one beautiful woman," he smiled boyishly. "And the moment he laid eyes on her he knew he had to look no further."

She took a chance, and so did he.

Green emerald eyes found violet ones.

"The woman felt so strongly for him… yet she was too shy -too scared to let him know how she felt. And so she ended up seating in a rusty swing hoping that someday she would find the courage to tell him, to let him know that-"

Her eyes widened at how she had been interrupted, but soon they were closed. The last unspoken words pounded lazily inside her head -no, her heart.

His lips touched against hers gently, yet firmly. She felt the softness of his mouth against hers. Felt as one of his hands moved towards her cheek and then traced her jaw line with his thumb. Seconds later, she felt his fingers touching her chin, tilting her head so that the kiss could deepen.

His tongue caressed her lips asking for entrance. The troubadour yielded willingly. She felt his tongue brushing hers, and in moments they were dancing to soundless music. Their rhythm coordinated and the passion flared. It was as if they had fought and lived just to savor this moment.

The kiss ended. The sun, by now, had been completely replaced by the moon. The once yellowish atmosphere had now attained a mysterious purplish glow. It was magical. It was theirs.

"He loves her," he confided to her, as he lowered himself to sit on the roots of the three the swings are tied to.

She followed his lead. A wide smile graced her face as she settled in front of him, between his legs. Her back placed firmly against his strong chest. His arms automatically wrapped around her tenderly, holding her by the waist as his chin came to rest atop her shoulder.

"I love you," he whispered on her ear. The gesture sent both shivers down her spine and butterflies fluttering in her stomach.

"And so do I," she replied closing her eyes and placing her soft hands on his arms, bathing in the warmth of his body. In that moment, she knew she was truly and utterly happy, "I love you. Always have and always will."

His lips kissed softly the roundness of her cheek, letting her know through actions that he felt the same way.

Pricilla understood she had found more than what she was looking for and Erk knew he had found more than he could have ever dreamed off…
