Hey everyone it’s me! I’m so, so, so, sorry for not updating in 3 years! I sort of put it off because I had huge writers block. Anyways I’m a junior in High School now so hopefully my writing got better. And once again I have a new nickname (two actually lol), but these are permanent. One is Short Stop because of my height, and the other is Neo ‘cause that’s what my siblings call me. Anyways so sorry and on with the story!

Disclaimer: Don’t own Naruto and never will. Well only the merchandise.

Chapter 4: The Cave

Sasuke looked out into the woods from the hollow tree they were in thinking about what to do next and just enjoying the view. To anyone else the woods would just have an eerie look to them but what Sasuke saw was true beauty. All the trees stood tall and firm like ninja standing still awaiting their orders, only swaying to the breeze. Sasuke looked down to the pink-haired beauty in his arms to make sure she was alright only to see her continuing to sleep peacefully. He looked up towards the sky to see a break in the clouds but in the distance black clouds rolled in ready to send hell upon those in their wake.

We won’t stay dry in here. We need to go somewhere else, Sasuke thought as he slowly got up as to not wake Sakura, We need to go to the cave.

With that thought, he stepped out of the tree after making sure that Sakura had his jacket wrapped tightly around her. He leaped from tree to tree with the grace of a deer making sure he didn’t make noise to attract any enemies, or to wake Sakura as he didn’t want her to be frightened by the storm that was heading their way. He looked all around sure that he was getting close to a cave he had recently found. Sure enough he spotted it about 100 feet away, he slowed down, leaped off of the tree to the ground, and headed inside the cave.

Once inside, he looked around and found the little campfire he had made the last time he was here and he walked over to it. He softly set Sakura down, took off his backpack, and started searching for the two sleeping bags he always kept in his bag just incase. He brought out both sleeping bags, unzipped them, and then re-zipped them to make one big sleeping bag that both he and Sakura could share because of how cold it was in the cave. He walked over to Sakura, picked her up, and carefully set her down again, but this time inside the sleeping bag. Once she was inside he turned towards the fireplace and started it in order for him to make himself something to eat as he was a very hungry boy.

After Sasuke finished eating, he sat down waiting for the fire to turn to embers, but as he sat there he was watching Sakura sleep. He saw how peaceful her face looked, the way her chest rose and fell with each sweet breath she took, but most of all he noticed her lips moving as if she were talking and every now and then they would rise up into a sweet smile he knew she only gave in her sleep.

God what am I doing, he though as he realized that he had been staring at her for some time and that the fire was now reduced to embers. He shook his head, and went and got in to the sleeping bag with Sakura. As if her mind knew, Sakura turned and snuggled into him just as he laid down in his most comfortable position, lying on his back with his hands behind his head. Sakura laid her head on his chest and snuggled closer as her right arm rested softly on his stomach. Sasuke hesitated, then he wrapped his arms around her, brought her body as close to his as possible, and put his left arm back behind his head. He breathed in deeply the scent of cherry blossoms, her scent. He drifted off to sleep smelling his favorite scent in the world.

Outside, the rain was poring down and it didn’t look like it would stop to a drizzle anytime soon. Back inside, the cave Sakura was fidgeting in Sasuke’s arms, muttering things in her sleep. All of a sudden she woke up with sweat and tears streaming down her face as she her breathing came in rapid, short breaths. She looked up and saw Sasuke’s sleeping face inches from her own and she started to calm down a bit. She turned her head and looked around the unfamiliar surrounding realizing that they weren’t in the tree anymore.

She set her head back down on Sasuke’s chest as a blush crept up to her cheeks as she saw the position they were in while they slept. What surprised her most was how tightly Sasuke’s arm was wrapped around her; he was still protecting her, even in his sleep. She looked up to his face again and noticed how, for once, he looked at peace. Not only that, but she noticed his strong, manly, facial features that she had never been close enough to admire. She reached up with her right hand to lightly brush his bangs out of his eyes. As her fingers touched his forehead, his lips curved upward into a soft smile, causing Sakura to smile too. She put her head and hand back down and got comfortable again. She breathed in his scent, the scent of freshly cut grass, and fell asleep almost instantly.
