Till Death Do Us Part

"Trust is something you earn. You won't earn mine. I'm wasting away and where are you? You're standing over me with a knife."

"But…"

"Is this how you love? By killing when your love is too weak to return your passion? I thought I knew you. I was wrong. You never loved me. Precious time is wasting. Drive the knife into my heart already."

"I don't want to kill…"

"I never thought you were peaceful, nor did I believe you were violent. I know the truth now. You could never love me. You hated my family and my friends. You loved me, supposedly. You made no effort to change your behavior toward them."

"I…"

"Would you call this love? If it is, I prefer hate. Make your choice: follow your father and kill the people you loved or forge a new destiny. A destiny where all is perfect."

"We can! I'll…"

"Happy endings start with trust."

He whispered into her ear, "I love you. I always did."

"Decide Draco, I'm not going to wait much longer. Don't whisper things in my ear!"

"Ginny! I won't…"

She grabbed his hand and gently guided the knife to her chest.

"Draco…I would die for you so do it!"

He slipped the knife between her ribs and stabbed her heart. Her last words were: "I love you too!"

As her body settled into rigor mortis, the dam broke. He held her body to his chest and cried, his tears mingling with her blood. In the background, Voldemort's mocking laughter could be heard.

Harry, Hermione, Ron: all dead.

And Ginny now. As Lucius tried to pry his eighteen year-old away from the dead girl, Draco cried, "Damn you all!"

He grabbed the knife.

"Draco, no!" In his grief, he heard his mother's voice. His father reached to him, but it was too late. Draco drew the blade across his throat and knew no more as his soul joined the others who'd died in the war and was set free.
