Echoes-Part 2

This is continued. 2 character deaths, but VERY subtle. Enjoy! I MIGHT make it longer, but that's only if you guys want me to!

Harper laid on his board, his feet dangling off the end, lazily stirring the water. His hands were behind his head, resting it as he stared at the sky. Life was cruel.

He tried to push the bad memories away, but they would not leave without a fight. It had been a while since it had happened, but Harper still grieved as if it was yesterday. Harper had been devastated, and his other crew mates secretly thought he was the one that was grieving the most.

And it was all his fault.

He had been in the matrix, fine-tuning some inner files in Andromeda. She watched over him, in her overbearing large self, as he fiddled around. Then, he found what later

he would wish that he would have left well alone.

Andromeda's back-up copy, another personality. With her permission, he had opened it. Harper turned around on the board, so he was looking at his unforgiving reflection.

The 'new' Andromeda had brought them into Magog territory. Magog swarm ships had attacked Andromeda. She had taken Trance, and made her pilot in slip-stream. From past experience, Trance was NOT good at slip-piloting.

Tyr had came to protect him when he had to go in the Matrix, so they could go away from this hell-hole.

In the end, Harper and Tyr had been captured. (NOTE: This next part is different than the episode. I sort of...changed...it around!)

Harper had been infested, but Tyr had escaped. He went deep into the tunnels on the Magog world ship, trying to escape. Tyr said he wasn't going to leave him there, that he would have found help. But Harper wasn't too sure about the Nietchien's promise.

When the others, namely Dylan, Beka and Rommie, had come to rescue them, he was the only one who had been permanently marked with death in the near future.

But Harper would have gladly been infested and killed over and over again for the rest of eternity if the horror waiting for him on the Andromeda, had never happened. But it had.

Rev, who had also gone down onto the Magog world ship, was found with a group of killed Magog. When the whole crew that had gone down onto that unique version of Hell, went back to the Andromeda, their hearts broke. Even more for some.

Andromeda, now back to her usual self, had tried to get out of range of the Magog world ship, but she had orders to launch the nova bomb into it, destroying it, if Dylan had not come back in an hour.

More Magog swarm ships were headed toward the Andromeda. They invaded it with ease, because Andromeda's other defenses (Beside the Nova Bomb launcher) were off line, from the world ship's point singularity projector firing mini-black holes at her.

When the rest got back on command, there was no Magog, but there was evidence that they had been there.

Trance.

Harper stood up on his board, trying to keep the image from his head. The water shifted around him, and the voices started again. His mother's voice drifted around him, saying, "Honey, Happy Birthday! We're gonna have a good day today, right!" Harper tried to smile at the voice that had kept the bad things away, but something deep inside of him, rumbled that not all was right.

3 things happened, at the same time, thought they were small. When he heard her voice, he then thought of her death. The life she had given up for him. Also, he thought of the image of Trance, dead. (See! Not too graphic!) As these thoughts pounded in his head, the Magog eggs shifted violently. He clutched his stomach, doubling over in pain. Their movement was getting stronger and stronger by the day.

Another, soft sweet voice, came up, as though reading his thoughts. "So what's it like being a mercenary? It sounds like it'd be a really tough job. I guess it'd allow you to travel a lot, which is kinda nice, but it's not as if the locals will be happy to see you when you arrive, and I suppose that killing people is a very stressful way to make a living."

Harper smiled a bitter-sweet smile, as he heard Trance's voice. The memory of what had happened to her was still fresh, but she sounded so innocent there, that even Tyr would have to smile.

He remembered very clearly that that's when they had found the Andromeda, and a group of mercenaries, including Tyr, had came aboard with Gerentex. Even though he had not been there when she had said it, he knew when she said it.

The water picked up, and he saw a humongous wave coming toward him. They weren't usually so big, but Harper had the favor of the goddess of waves, water, and wind. The 3 W's.

He paddled a little, then wadded for it. He stood straight on his board, then steadied himself. The wave crashed above him, and made the one-side-wall. As he rode down it, he watched as the silent movie played.

He watched a picture of his father fixing a piece of metal. Harper smiled as he thought of who he had gotten his engineering genius from. But, just as when he had heard his mother's voice, Harper let the guilt of their deaths wash over him. The picture fizzled, then disappeared.

It was followed by a menacing picture of a Nietchien. He was wearing chain mail, and his dreadlocks hung over his brown skin. Harper nearly laughed. If he would have seen this picture when he was younger, he would have jumped of his board and swam back to shore. But Harper knew Tyr, and looks weren't everything.

He remembered when he was young, and had surfed here, he had heard a Magog's voice. Now, of course, he knew it was Rev.

As the wall closed in on him, and made the familiar tunnel, Harper's genius brain started to click. He had not heard or seen any pictures from his future, like he usually did.

He was almost to the end of the tunnel, when Her Grace herself appeared. A sad smile played across her face as she stared at her favorite surfer. He was almost to the end, but she did not disappear like she usually did. He was too close to her.

She stretched out her beautiful arms, and embraced him in a hug. He was actually hugging her! Then, the Magog eggs jerked violently. But he felt no pain, as long as he was in her arms. Now he understood why there was no future pictures. Because there would be no future for him. The eggs were hatching.

There was no pain, or fear as she held him. She bent forward, and whispered something in his ear. Then, she slowly disappeared, as he fell through her, and splashed quietly in the awaiting water, front first.

See! Not too graphic. I hope you got the idea that he died because his eggs were hatching. Either that, or his broken heart from his time apart from Trance. When the Magog get threw, they will have to drown in water. That's what they get for invading such a hunk! JJ. I hope you liked the concept.
