(A/N: Sorry that it took so long. Life got in the way. There are a few open stories on my list…this one was one I just needed to see finished. To start I wanted to thank all of my readers…every time I feel down I find my self reading your reviews. I wouldn't have had the courage to keep writing without your kind words. Well…here goes…lets see if my hands still work. This is from Anna's POV.)

Chapter 10: Life Goes On

"My name is Annabelle Sanders. I am a CSI for the Las Vegas Crime Lab. Four months ago, while on restricted duty due to pregnancy I made some findings that led to the conviction of Rita White for the murder of her son Trent. My husband Greg, was the lead CSI on the case. Upon her conviction her husband Lawrence White was found unfit and he was denied custody of his youngest son. On two separate occasions Mr. White threatened my husband and I. Shortly after the second threat Mr. White abducted me from my home and took me a held me against my will. At the time I was eight months pregnant with twins. I was tied up and beaten. He said he was going to kill me and just before I was rescued he threatened to rape me. I sustained fracture to my left ulna, three broken ribs, and massive bruising to my face and abdomen. The trauma sent me into early labor, but thankfully my children where unharmed." Greg stood from a chair behind me handing Alex to me and holding Caroline. "These are my children, my babies, Alex and Caroline. This man's intentions were to take my life and that of my children. He sought to punish my husband for taking his family, by harming us. These details have already been brought forward. This court has found Mr. White guilty of the crimes against me and my children, one count of kidnapping and three counts of attempted murder, one for me and each of my children. I brought them here today to show you what Mr. White tried to kill, to impress on you the severity of his crimes. I plead with this court, not as a CSI, but as a victim to pass the maximum sentence in this case. I ask that Mr. White be sentenced to life without parole, so that my children never have to face the chance of seeing the man who wanted them dead walking freely down the street. Thank You."

As Greg and I took our seats I looked at my children and prayed for the judge to be wise. After a brief recess he asked Mr. White to stand.

"Mr. White, this court has found you guilty on all charges and with the statement from your victim I am now prepared to offer sentencing. By the powers vested in me by the state of Nevada I hear by sentence you to three life sentences with no chance of parole, one for each of your victims. You will spend the rest of your natural life in prison and if you ever attempt to contact any member of the Sander's family, the punishment will be increased."

A great roar came from the courtroom. Greg looked at me, smiling.

"What's wrong," he said noticing my tears.

"Nothing," I said, "I just can't believe it's really over. He's going to jail. He's going to pay for what he did to us."

"And he'll pay for the rest of his life." Greg placed his hand on my cheek. "I swear on my life that neither he nor no one else with ever hurt you again. I promise you."

"I know," I smiled. "Now lets get these two to the sitter, we've go to get to work."

"No you don't," said Grissom walking up behind us. "Take the day off."

"No really Griss, its ok we can…" Grissom stopped me.

"Take the day off. This trail has been hard on all of us, but you two especially. Go, take the kids to the park or to the zoo, or leave them with the sitter and take sometime for yourselves. Just don't come to work, understand me."

"Yes sir," Greg said putting my coat around my shoulders. "You heard the man Darling, no need to argue. Let's go before he changes his mind."

Fifteen minutes later Greg and I were walking through the Las Vegas Zoo pushing the double stroller between us. In the calm of the afternoon it seemed almost as if nothing had happened. We'd not just put a man in jail for trying to kill us, we were just a normal family on a normal trip to the zoo. This I've discovered is life. We see atrocious things in our line of work. People do the most unimaginable things to each other and yet life goes on, it must. My children came into this world under horrible circumstances, but their lives are a blessing and will be treated as such, for as long as I can help it.

The End

(There we go. A bit short but there wasn't much that needed to be resolved. I hope you enjoyed it. Please review…let me know your thoughts no matter what they are. Who knows…I might try for story number 3. Thanks for reading.)
