Just before Palton was able to land the final blow, Baal was able to cast a frost nova and knock the paladin back.

"Foolish mortal, you are too late. My brothers have already found their way to a different world. Your world is doomed now, and we seek to destroy another." With that said, Baal opens a portal, and with Palton frozen, he escapes to join his brothers with the portal closing behind him.

The paladin tries his hardest to get to it but is too slow. Palton falls to his knees and prays, for him and for humanity. A white light appears and an angelic voice is heard.

"Do not despair mortal. You can still save your world, but you must stop the Prime evils."

Palton turns to face the speaker. "Archangel Tyrael," Palton bows before the angel. "How do I stop them? The portal is closed."

"I will open a portal for you but I will not be able to return you." Tyrael raises his arms and a tear appears out of nowhere. "Go mortal. It will not stay open long."

Palton gives one final bow, turns and walks into the portal.

"Brother, it appears that this world is already wrought with strife. From what I have been able to gather, there are an undead scourge and the creatures of this world are besieged by a demon of their own." All the sudden there is a bright flash and a wounded Baal appears.

"Brother is you okay? We didn't think you would make it. We had word that archangel Tyrael was on his way to finish you for good."

Mephisto turns around to face Baal and Diablo. "Did you succeed? Has the world stone been destroyed?"

"Yes dear brothers, I corrupted to world stone and Tyrael will destroy it to keep the corruption from infecting the world."

"What about that fool paladin, that pawn of Tyrael's?" Requested Diablo in immense hatred.

"The portal closed behind me. He cannot follow."

"Good. Now rest Lord of Destruction. You'll need it."

Diablo turns away from Baal to face Mephisto. "What shall we do about this other demon? Surely we could work with him but in the end he could be hindrance."

"We will do nothing for now and hope he does not discover us with Baal weak. When we are ready, we will make our presence known once we learn about this demon's intentions. Only then will we decide if we must destroy him."
