Chapter 3: On the Way to the Mall

The Titans and Genius sat on the couch in the living room. Cody stood in front of the giant Television that was placed in front of the window. He waved his hand at the screen and a map of the city popped up.

"This map is of all of Jump City and parts of it's outskirts," he said. He waved his hand again, and 4/5 of the map became covered in red. "The red spots on the map indicate which parts of the city have been taken over by the Fanfiction Corporation. As you can see, this island is one of the few remaining spots of freedom".

With another wave, the screen zommed in on a large mall on the north side of the city. It was red, and flashing.

"We will begin our assault here, at Jump City Mall. We have reason to believe that genetic experiments are proceeding here. We've also seen that a pharmacy, know as GeneBoosters, have been giving out free vaccinations to citizens. I've scanned the samples, and I've read large amounts of electronics in them, probably microchips. Now that we know the plan, we should get ready for the attack. Genius, can you pull up some weapons for us?".

"Right," the other author responded. "I wish we had cabinets of weapons by us". A long cabinet of weaponry zoomed up out of nowhere behind the couch. "Alright," Cody said. "Anyone who wants guns, pick what you can. Everyone else, move to the T-Car. We'll meet you at the destination".

Raven, Starfire, and Cyborg left for the car while Genius, Cody, Robin, and Beastboy walked over to the cabinet and picked out some weapons.

Cody grabbed a holster and strapped it to his waist, putting a Beretta in it. He strapped an AK-47 to his back, and removed two Uzis from the racks.

Genius strapped an M16 on his back and took a SPAS 12 shotgun.

Beastboy, as he could transform, picked only a Beretta.

"Okay, let's-".

Cody was cut off by the sound of rotor blades outside the window. Two black Apache helicopters flew up and hovered outside the window.

"RUN!" Cody shouted.

The helicopter began to spray armor-peircing bullets from it's machine gun. The thuds were drowned out by explosions as the TV exploded in a shower of sparks and glass and the walls were ripped apart. Cody fired a burst from his Uzis and ran straight at the chopper. He formed a mental sheild around himself to protect against the powerful shots. He jumped through the broken window, flipped, and landed on the cockpit.

The pilot shouted is suprise and tried to manuver the helicopter to try and shake the boy off, but using magnakinesis, the author's shoes and the cockpit became magnatized, allowing him to stand on the glass.

He fired into the cockpit, the glass shattering. The pilot clutched his throat as blood sprayed onto the controls in front of him. Cody jumped off and fired a powerful jing blast of ki energy into the helicopter. The aircraft exploded as Cody fell from it. He landed in front of the ferry and ran towards the Taurus as Genius was climbing in.

"GO!" He shouted to the ferry driver, who was watching the show. He ducked back behind the wheel and backed the ferry away from the island. Cody made a running leap to the ferry and landed on the car. He rolled off and entered the black sedan.

"Well, that must have hurt," Genius said. he had heard the thump as Cody belly flopped onto the hard roof of the car. "No shit, Sherlock," his winded friend wheezed back.

The ferry slowly moved away from the tower, which was burning after the expoding TV sparked a number of fires. After the ferry had pulled up to the dock on Jump City, Genius turned the motor back on and prepared to drive off, when a pair of Humvees drove up to the dock. They were black. One had a Browning M2 .50 caliber machine gun on the roof, while the other had a TOW missle launcher, which was currently pointing at the ferry.

"DRIVE!" Cody shouted for the third time. The car roared and quickly drove off the ferry as the missle launcher fired. The missle landed on the ferry's deck, causing it to explode violently into many pieces. The driver was vaporized in the blast.

As the gunner reloaded and lined up another shot, Cody slowed down time with chronokinesis. To everyone but him, he would appear to be moving extremely fast. To him, everything else would be moving extremely slow. As the launcher fired, Cody watched for a few seconds as fire and smoke slowly shot out of the turret. He pointed his palm at the barrel of the weapon and clenched his fingers. The barrel of the TOW laucher quickly bent. The missle, with nowhere to go, hit the side of the barrel and exploded, taking out both Humvees. The one with the missle launcher disappeared in a ball of fire, while the other was sent flying away into the side of a building.

Cody returned to normal time as the Taurus drove onto the city streets. As it turned onto a main road, three Humvees, all with M2s on the top, drove out from alleyways and side streets and manuvered behind the car.

"We've got company," Cody said to Genius, who nodded and sped up. Cody pulled out his AK-47 and climbed into the back seat. He used a ki blast to knock out the back window ("Hey, I liked this car!" Genius said) and aimed at the window of one of the Humvees. Just as he pulled the trigger, Genius drove out of the way of a slow pickup, sending Cody's shots wide.

"That's it, I'm driving," Cody said, climbing back into the passenger seat. "Trust me, I'm good at this," he said when Genius hesitated.

"1, 2, 3, GO!" Cody said. Genius and Cody quickly fell over each other as Cody grabbed the wheel to keep the car steady. After a few seconds, Genius was climbing into the backseat as Cody began to swerve away from cars.

One of the Humvees rammed the rear of the car, causing it to fly into the other lane. A truck honked as the Taurus quickly turned back into the correct lane to avoid being smashed against the grill of the truck like a bug. A burst of machine gun fire from all three Humvees blew off the trunk of the car. The Humvee that rammed them came up on the right side, while another came on the left. Cody slammed on the brakes, causing the third Humvee to hit the back of the Taurus, lifting it off it's back wheels.

Genius rolled out of the rear window, holding a one wood golf club he had found on the floor. He landed on the hood just as the machine gunner took aim. Genius swung the club and whacked the gunner in the temple, knocking him out. Genius reached for a grenade on the gunner's vest and pulled the pin before climbing back into the car.

"Speed up!" he shouted at Cody. The car pulled away just as the grenade detonated.

BOOM! The Humvee exploded from the inside. The interior was reduced to a large fire as the Humvee flipped forward and laned on it's roof. The explosion caused the other windows in the car to shatter.

The two remaining Humvees attempted to sandwich the car between them. Cody calmly yanked the steering wheel right and slammed the car on the right against a building face. Sparks and glass flew as windows on the building shattered and pedestrians jumped out of the way. Genius opened the rear doors of the car as Cody pulled away from the damaged Humvee. The doors on the other Humvee opened and a soldier, armed with an Uzi, jumped throught the door of the car-and right out the other as Genius grabbed his collar and threw him out the other side, turning him into roadkill.

The Humvee smashed the Taurus into the other side of the road. Cody rammed the other Humvee further into the oncoming traffic and pulled away just as an 18-wheeler hit the Humvee dead on, destroying it completely. Yet another Humvee pulled into the 90 MPH chase, and the newcomer and the damaged Humvee pulled to the sides in an attempt to flank the Taurus.

"I got it," Genius said as he aimed his M16 at the cars. Before he got a chance to fire, Cody pulled the handbrake and spun the car in a 180 degree turn. They were now driving backwards at 100 MPH!

Cody fired his Uzi out the front window, destroying it, much to the chargin of his author friend, and killed the drivers of the Humvees. The Humvees swerved into each other and pinballed around the road at high speed. Cody spun the car again, putting them back in the forward position.

The chase had taken them into the mall, and the car drove up to the front door. They could hear screams inside, like a riot was going on.

Cody turned to Genius, who was picking himself up off the floor of the car. Smirking, the psychic said "Told you I could drive this thing".
