Seeking Shelter from the Rain

Disclaimer: I do not own Kim Possible or any of the characters there within.

A vicious uppercut caught the unsuspecting red-head by surprise. The blow sent her sprawling on the ground, but she quickly recovered herself. Massaging a stinging jaw, she glared at the woman opposite her. Clad in striking green and black and smiling wickedly; stood the red-haired girl’s attacker and long-time formidable adversary; Shego.

The woman grinned.

“What’s the matter Kimmie, didn’t see me coming?”

Kim Possible smiled ruefully at the haphazard comment.

“I didn’t think you were so immoral as to strike an unwary opponent.”

The woman’s smile faded slightly. “Newsflash princess, I’m a bad girl.”

Shego struck out again, hands flaring and raven-hair flying, a roundhouse kick in preparation; but this time her foe was ready. Kim blocked the blow and immediately countered with on of her own. She succeeded in the thrust and Shego went down, but the raven-haired woman used the new leverage to lash out at the red-head’s legs. Possible jumped to avoid it but Shego had anticipated the move and struck her hard to the middle with her opposite leg while Kim was in the air. The teen stumbled back, cradling a sore stomach in pain and her eyes tearing, she bit her lower lip fiercely to forestall the tears that threatened to fall. Kim returned the favor by viciously kicking Shego’s outstretched hand with her heel. Shego cried out in pain and backed away, holding the offended hand in her other. The two girls glared at one another, temporarily out of commission and huffing in fatigue.

Shego was the first to smile as she straightened to her full height.

“Who is being shameless now?”

Kim only glared at her. Shego chuckled softly as she flexed her sore hand, albeit, it still stung something fierce, she would not allow Kim Possible the joy of her pain. Shego rose and dusted herself off, the foreshadowing earthly fragrance of rain aroused her senses and a threatening rumble in the not so far distance warned of imminent danger to come. Shego enjoyed thunderstorms but she didn’t particularly like being in them.

Kim still nursed her stomach on the ground, down on one knee. Apparently, the vicious blow the woman had dealt was serious. Shego smiled down at the girl.

“Well, unless you are willing to go another round, I assume authority over this.” She retrieved the item she had just stolen from the pocket on her leg and flashed it tauntingly at Kim. She deftly spun the jewel in her fingers, flaunting its beauty as well as her obvious thievery prowess. Her hand still stung, but no emotion but triumph glistened on the villainess’ face. Kim, still huffing, did not answer the raven-haired woman.

“We are finished here.”

Shego tossed the pendent and confidently caught it in her fist, smirking at the girl all the while and turned to leave.

“Not quite.” Kim replied, an edge to her voice. She leveled a weapon at Shego’s hand and pulled the trigger. With a hiss and swift reeling sound, a little clawed hand deployed on a wire, snapped brutally at Shego’s hand—her already injured hand.

The woman shrieked in pain and dropped the pendant. It was all the time Kim needed. She sprang forward, tucking into a roll and catching up the stolen trinket, then she was on her feet and running, legs stretching to their greatest length to put distance between herself and the green and black clad villainess. Shego howled in rage after the red-haired girl, but the teen did not slow, nor even give so much as a glance back in her flight.

Shego now stood alone in the alleyway, massaging a severely injured right hand and muttering curses under her breath. And to make things worse, it had begun to rain. It came at first as a dull roar, and did not start as a gentle drizzle, but as a pour. Shego soon found herself soaked through.

Damn! She had failed again to that upstart, red-head teen; failed another mission for world conquest; failed herself. So many times had she been so unsuccessful, she feared she was beginning to lose her touch.

The crushing impact of failure diminished her of her wicked pleasure, leaving her filled only with her quick anger and a drowning sadness.

Shego shut her eyes to the world as the rain fell, cold and heavy; adding to her melancholy state of mind. Water slipped down her face and fell down her front as rain also trickled down her back; arising a prickling sensation of chill to climb her spine. Her raven-hair lost its voluptuous body to the moisture and flattened to her head, a few stray strands clinging to her face.

The momentary distraction was not enough to keep the sinking feeling of failure at bay. The pounding on her skull seemed only to amplify the pounding in her head.

Why was it she could not seem ever to defeat that blasted girl? She was older, smarter, experienced; she had all of the potential to take down any who stood in her way, except the heroic teen who constantly rent through her meticulously laid tactics. Where the teen seemed barely able to defeat the woman, Shego would always stumble at the finish line.

Kim was always one step ahead.

Shego managed to place in second once again; left only with open, empty hands and a dark heart full of sorrow.

The pounding in her skull suddenly stopped. Startled from her sulking, Shego glanced up to see an outcropping of a black web, keeping the rain from its constant pound on her body to instead be stopped by the webbing and waterfall gently from its edges.

An umbrella?

Shego turned her gaze to the umbrella’s holder to encounter a man smiling softly at her. An appreciative, knowing smile of subtle approval was the first thing to greet her eyes.

The woman looked at him in confusion. Why was he smiling? Could he not see her empty hands?

She turned from that smile in shame, empty hands closing into fists, though her right hand was not as tightly clenched as her left. She closed her eyes once more.

“Kim Possible got the pendant,” Shego said bleakly, her voice shaking. “I…”

Have failed you again.

Shego could not say the words; her tongue would not obey her command, though she ill wanted to speak it.

Drakken shook his head.

“Never mind about the pendant, Shego. My halfwit plan probably would not have succeeded anyway.”

The comment, made in jest, did not cheer the villainess. She sternly kept her back to him. Drakken cleared his throat uncomfortably. Perhaps this was not the time to kid with the woman. This past mission obviously had left the raven-haired woman extremely ruffled.

“Come now,” he said softly, stretching forward his hand to clasp one of hers. She recoiled sharply at his touch with a cry and Drakken dropped the umbrella in surprise. The shock of the cold water down his back gave him goose bumps even within his clothes, although the dark-haired beauty haloed in the rain may have been suffice to the chills as well.

Shego massaged her hand, her teeth clenched and a furrow of pain and anger creased her brow. Realizing Shego had been hurt, he moved closer to her, but she briefly glanced at his advance and retreated a step.

“I’m fine.” She stated half-heartedly, though her piercing anger rang true in her voice. Drakken ignored the outburst and her tone and came forward. Shego glared at him with piercing green eyes, back slightly hunched over her injured hand, body language pointing to signs of a cornered animal, injured but still ready to fight for its pride.

“Let me see,” Drakken said gently, reaching for her hand with both of his.

“I’m fine!” she insisted but did not resist when he grasped her hand in his. Drakken had removed his gloves and stuffed them into a side pocket quickly, softly reaching for Shego’s hand. He made to remove her glove and she sucked in a breath through her teeth softly. Her hand could painfully feel every pulse of blood. His hold was surprisingly gentle, Shego noted numbly, as Drakken tenderly probed and felt Shego’s hand for broken bones and damaged tissue.

“Ooh,” Drakken commented softly. “This part here is going to be sore for awhile.” He spoke as he lightly ran his thumb over a large darkening bruise on the back of her hand. Shego said nothing. “But other than that, there should be no substantial damage.”

He smiled at her, but she did not meet his gaze, her eyes stayed firmly on the ground. Drakken’s smile fell away and he sighed tiredly.

“That Kim Possible. She and all of her gadgets constantly getting in the way of my best plans. She’s a cheater, that’s what she is. A cheater!”

Rain continued to fall on the both of them and still Drakken had not released Shego’s hand. The raven-haired woman turned her eyes to the hold, wondering how long he intended to hold her “captive”, though a mix of emotions ran through her at the sight of his warm hand holding hers. She enjoyed his warm hand holding protectively to hers…wait, what was she thinking?

She angrily batted the idea from her mind. The doctor continued, not having noticed the look of scrutiny the woman had given their hand hold.

“Why I surmise that if that little brat didn’t have her toys, you would be able to take her down in three moves! The fight is dreadfully unfair.”

Shego’s anger returned with a force as she snatched her hand from his.

“It’s fair enough!” she snapped and strode away from him into the impending darkness.

“Oh now Shego, don’t go storming off like that.” Drakken half-heartedly laughed at his poorly crafted pun which served only to fuel the woman’s rage further.

“Shego!” he called after her forlornly and the tone of his voice caused Shego to falter in her step.

She slowly turned back to face him. Her eyes assessed a poor, lonely man standing drenched in the rain for her. A man who had accepted constant failure, a man who had not abandoned her, a man whom she could trust to always be there. And there he stood in the rain, broken and dejected for her. It was a miserable sight, but she must not have looked much better.

She sighed and shook her head, crossing her arms over her chest; feigning impatience and doubling for her own warmth, though the severity of her expression had faded, betraying herself of her true feelings.

“Doc…” she began softly when a flash of light filled the area and momentarily blinded her. Shego blinked several times. “What, did you just take my picture, Doc?” she asked sarcastically, but Drakken only shook his head and held up his empty hands.

Realization dawned on her and her fears were confirmed as a thunderous boom exploded behind her. With a slight yelp, Shego sprang forward to the Doctor who scrambled for the umbrella, Shego took shelter under it with him as well. They held to one another for a moment, each looking out from under the rim of the umbrella to the impending storm, soaking wet and shivering. Shego shot him an incredulous glance when she realized that she and the Doctor were sharing an embrace, their bodies in such close proximity.

“Huh, are you scared?” Shego smiled cruelly up at him.

“Are you?” he retorted just as snidely back. Shego smiled. She was beginning to rub off on him. She glanced up at the device that was more or less irrelevant to use because the both of them were soaking wet.

“You do know that this umbrella is an electricity conductor…”

“Would you like to hold it?” he shot back nearly as sarcastically. Shego was almost impressed.

“No, thanks.”

“But Shego…”

“Let’s argue about it later, all right?”

“Maybe we should make a break for it.”

“Are you kidding me? I don’t want to ru—”

At that moment a thunder clap sounded as though right behind them, spurring the both of them forward, Shego was the first to take off into a sprint. Drakken laughed behind her.

“I knew you wanted to run for cover!”

“I’m going to lock you out of the lab when I get there!” she called menacingly over her shoulder. Drakken’s face fell as he dashed after the woman.

“No, w-wait Shego! Wait for me!”

Author’s Note: Finally, this story has been just sitting here on my computer, waiting ever so patiently for me to finish it (heh, well technically it was already done, I just needed to revise it…which took me a few weeks worth of procrastination to get over…) and at any rate, it is completed and I have another Kim Possible story underway!

This particular story was inspired by one picture…and I’ll have to edit this one to give you all an address as to which one it is…but it’s a picture of Shego and Drakken just clinging to one another as their craft begins to flood…so with a goal in mind I weaved this story around it.

Shego and Drakken's relationship is an interesting one to say the least...where Drakken always fails, Shego has not yet abandoned him and Drakken seems able to ignore much of Shego's sarcasm and relatively cruel taunts. pause Plus, they are just so cute together!

Anywho, I hope that you all liked it and will please review!
