To Vanish Inside Your Kiss
What'dya Want?
Rogue looked over at her clock and sighed. There was nothing good on television and she didn't have anything else to do. Her college had ended and she was so sick of being around the schooling area anyhow. Her job wasn't much better. It was like a never ending battle with her boss just to get some peace so she could concentrate. Plus she was just getting over a bad relationship. Bobby Drake, she hated to say it but he wasn't really good for her anyhow. Especially since she found him in a lip lock with Katherine Pryde. She shivered at the name. Marie was just going for a brief break and when she walked into the conference room to grab some coffee there he was…
Marie felt that at some point in her life she had to just quit that job and find a new one. Though how in the world she was going to find a new job on such short notice was beyond her. Looking down at some photo's she remembered what the simple life used to be down in Mississippi. She missed it there. But for some unknown reason it didn't draw her in as much. It was a pain. Her old family was there, the ones that used her for her talents. She was happy once…very happy. Until she lost control…everything around her began to separate…it was obvious that she would never find peace there so she ran.
Lost in thought she sat back on the couch again. Then she looked back at the clock. It was just a little after five and nothing was on TV at all. After setting a few more minutes she grunted and walked over to grab her coat. Going out for a night didn't seem so bad since there was nothing currently going on in her life right now.

Soon she found her way to a regular club that she often visited. It was strikingly vibrant and it wasn't full of a whole lot of socials. Just Rogues kind of people. Nobody talked to her which was a good thing. It was nice to know that people would mind their own business. She sat down at her usual table which was far in the back away from everyone, sighed and then ordered a drink. For some reason tonight just wasn't her night…after finishing half the drink she left and walked down the street. It was after eight now looking at her watch.
After just a few more minutes of walking she went to see if any good movies were playing…Jus' mah luck. Nothin' good playin'. Why am Ah always outta luck. First mah boyfriend leaves me fo' some other woman…then Ah almost get fired fo' sockin' him in the jaw, now Ah stuck alone with nothin' t' do. Uggg!
By this time she had bumped into a stranger and by the looks of it he wasn't going to say sorry.
"Hey yah jerk…watch were yer goin'!" Marie hissed as his coat waved behind him…then it hit her…he stole her purse.
She ran after the man knocking him down and picking up her purse. "Yer aweful, yah know that raht? What's the Ahdea?"
That's when her heart skipped a beat. He looked up at her, his eyes were the first thing she noticed. They were different…so very different but beautiful. They were red…so very red…so deep and rich…and they were settled on the deepest hue of black ever imaginable. She gasped involuntarily. Then she took an appraisal of the rest of him…her eyes drinking him in like water…as he stood up. He was gorgeous. His face was like an angels with the eyes of a demon…but not a horrible demon…his body was defined, but not overwhelming. A small smile crept to her lips as he started to brush himself off.
"Well cherie…y' managed t' get Gambit. Question is…wut do y' want?" She heard him say…his voice was husky and thick…encased were those words in that deep thick Cajun accent. She wanted to just jump this complete stranger and kiss him senseless…a hand waving in front of her face drew her out of the trance his presence and put her in.
She slapped his face hard when she come back to. "Thaht's fo' taken my purse, jerk."
"Gambit's been called many thin's Cherie, but not'in' like dat." He smiled…
"What evah swamp rat. Ah got no time fo' this." She huffed acidly and started walking away when she felt a pressure on her wrist.
"Now, now cherie…mebbe we got off on de wrong foot. Can we start over?" He asked twirling her back and into his embrace.
"No, Ah'd rathah not."
"Why cher? I t'ought y' liked de way Remy looked. De way yo' eyes were focused…looked like somethin' was on yo' mind." He smiled with a cocky grin.
"Ya wish snake charmer."
"Come, come now…Remy never seen a belle femme like y' befo'. Let him make it up t' y'."
"How 'bout no and let me go Gambit."
"Please cher…Gambit be fo' business, dis certainly ain'. So call me Remy…" He met her eyes again…his locked with hers. The beautiful green luster in them…he was taken aback by her beauty. Her hair was tied up in a loose bun, and two unique white streaks encased her face along with a few pieces of the light brown hair. He smiled at her, but not a cocky smile, just a light and bright smile.
"Please cher…" He tried again bowing and taking her hand. "Wut's yer name?"
"Marie."
"Well Marie…accept dis as an apology." He kissed her hand then pulled her closer and kissed her lips gently. "Meet me fo' dinner…" He slipped her a playing card. "De address on dere."
She closed her eyes and when she opened them he was gone. She looked at the playing card and it was the Queen of Hearts.
