The Beautiful Disaster

-Sweet Endings-

A/N: Yes…this is the last chapter of my first finished story EVER. Thanks to all of you who reviewed. Sadly, the reviews went way down the past few days and it was kind of strange, so I think it would be cool if anyone who reads this could give me a review or a good-job-for-finishing-your-first-story type of thing. It'd be greatly appreciated.

-LOST-

Sometime, Charlie fell asleep. He wasn't sure when. He just remembered the feeling of not to be able to hold his eyelids open any longer, and he had fallen asleep, the last picture in his mind being Claire.

When he awoke, he found that strangely his wrists were untied and he was covered with a heavy blanket. Claire lay only a few feet away from him, still sleeping.

He rolled over, shocked to see Danielle and Alex sitting by a small fire, Danielle holding baby Aaron and smiling at Alex, her eyes gleaming. When she saw that Charlie had awoken, she stood quickly and approached him.

Charlie sat up, staring at Danielle as she kneeled in front of him.

"Charlie, here is her baby," Danielle said, an almost apologetic smile on her face as she carefully handed Aaron over, who glanced up at Charlie and cooed slightly.

Charlie started at Aaron a moment before looking back up at a smiling Danielle.

"But…the Others?" Charlie said hoarsely, tilting his head and coughing slightly. Danielle handed him a jug of water.

"The Others are dead," Danielle said rather simply, a shadow falling over her face. "I killed them."

Charlie decided not to ask any more questions after that.

He cradled Aaron, watching Claire, waiting for her to wake up and see her baby. Once or twice he thought of waking her, but decided against it. She looked so beautiful, her hair blowing in time with her breathing.

Eventually, Claire raised a lazy hand and rubbed an eye, yawning slightly. Suddenly, she seemed surprised that she was moving her hand and sat up quickly, staring down at her hands in her lap. She bent her wrists slightly and her head jerked toward Charlie when she heard Aaron's gentle cooing.

Charlie smiled to himself as Claire gaped, and without asking any questions, snatched Aaron and held him tightly, crying.

Charlie moved himself behind her and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her cheek and soothing her quietly. He explained all that had happened, even though he wasn't too sure of what actually had. But it seemed to work.

Before long, the mother and daughter were leading Charlie and Claire back to the caves. Charlie and Claire tagged behind a little, doting on Aaron and stealing little smiles at each other now and then.

Danielle and Alex turned behind some trees, and Charlie and Claire were about to follow when Charlie grabbed her arm to hold her back. Claire looked up at him, her head at a slight tilt.

"Claire, I meant to tell you when we were captive." He paused. "No, I meant to tell you so long ago but I never had the courage…"

Claire's eyes brightened slightly. "What?" she asked, already knowing. "What have you been meaning to tell me?"

"Claire…I love you," Charlie said, gazing into her blue eyes, his whole body trembling as he took her into his arms.

Claire just smiled. No words could describe how she felt about him.

They kissed.

This time, they didn't mind.

A/N: Awww…I know, short. But sweet : - ) I think you all can fill in the gaps about what happened with the Others. If not, just use your imagination. It's fun. I really hope you all enjoyed this ride!
