Author's note: This story was written shortly after I saw RotS. I know the whole "evil twin" thing is kinda lame, but bear with me. It's just an idea I had that I figured I would post while I'm still working on the next chapter of "Burdened One." FYI, it's being told by Anakin.

Summary: Five years after the rise of the Empire, Obi-Wan comes face to face with the spirit of some one he never thought he'd see again: Anakin Skywalker. This is the story Anakin's ghost has to offer.

Brothers

Let me tell you a story. It begins right here on Tatooine, with the birth of two boys. Twins. They were identical in every feature save one: While the younger twin's eyes were blue, the elder's were a frightening yellow. There were whispers among the superstitious people of Mos Espa that the boy was a demon, cursed, or bad luck. Most feared him, and avoided him as much as they could.

As soon as he was old enough to understand this, the older boy, named Lucien, became embittered by it. He was very violent, and often took his anger out on his brother. Their mother strove to make peace between her sons, but nothing could cure Lucien's inexplicable need to hurt his brother. Between the harsh life of a slave and the rumors about his yellow eyes, Lucien only grew angrier, and more violent, lashing out at everyone around him. When the boys were eight, Lucien was sold to a spice smuggler, while his mother and twin remained in Mos Espa.

About a year latter, a Jedi was stranded on Tatooine while escorting the Queen of Naboo to Coruscaunt. He discovered that the younger boy was incredibly strong in the Force, and freed him so that he might be trained as a Jedi. Of course, the Jedi had no knowledge of the elder boy, as his mother and twin never spoke of him. The memories were too painful.

Around the same time, Lucien was also discovered to be exceptionally powerful- by the Sith. The Sith Lord, having recently lost an apprentice, was in need of another one. However, Lucien was still too young to fully preform the duties of an apprentice, so he was only made a disciple, while another filled the role.

Thirteen years passed. Lucien became more and more powerful in the ways of the dark side, and his brother likewise in the ways of the Jedi. The sith apprentice was killed by the younger brother, and Lucien stepped up to fill his place. He had orders to kill the Jedi, which he would be glad to follow.

But nothing could cure his inexplicable need to hurt his twin. He made sure that all those he killed thought it was his brother who had betrayed them. Taking advantage of his apprentice's hatred for his brother, the Sith Lord kidnaped the younger twin and had Lucien continue to pose as him.

Lucien would commit many atrocities, including killing his brother's wife and attempting to kill his brother's closest friend, nearly getting himself killed in the process. All this he did just to hurt his twin. Just to see him suffer.

So five years passed, and the only one who knew that Lucien was in fact the Sith, and not his brother, was the twin himself, who remained a captive to the Sith master, until just recently, when he died.
