A/N: L’Arachels title ‘the beautiful princess of peerless beauty’ is of her own creation, so nobody say ‘whoa you suck at making up titles’ in their reviews. And just so you know this is written after they have gotten their ‘A’ class support.

L’Arachel sighed as another monster advanced on her ‘Ah yes, another abomination that must be banished by the beautiful princess of peerless beauty’. “Most Holy Lord grant me the power of your light! Divine!” She brought her arm down as the bolt of holy light came rocketing down from the skies, striking the living corpse and sending it back the hells that spawned it. She grinned and kicked her horse into a galop, heading towards the thick of the fighting.

Innes sighed dejectedly and loosed another shaft from his bow. The crown prince of Frelia rolled his eyes when he caught sight of L’Arachel riding around causing –at least in his opinion- more trouble than she was worth. He sighed as he loosed another shaft, he watched with mild interest as it tore through a Magalls eye. The prince grabbed his quiver and headed after L’Arachel ‘just to make sure she doesn’t get hurt’ he reminded himself ‘I only want her alive so she can learn of Frelias complete and total superiority over Rausten’. He couldn’t help but let his face break into one of his customary half smiles at the thought of his playful banner with the young woman.

L’Arachel smiled as she called down another bolt of holy power. “Really Rennac” she said tersely “you really should be careful, I won’t always be here to save you.” The rouge sighed and rolled his eyes before scurrying off, ‘probably to get in more trouble’ L’Arachel thought with a slight smile ‘he really should be grateful that I, the beautiful princess of peerless beauty am so concerned with his well being, in fact he should-’ L’Arachel was preoccupied with her own thoughts that she didn’t she the Entombed behind her.

Innes brought his fist crashing into bonewalkers skull; the Frelian princes blow shattered the undead creatures head and sent fragments of bone flying in all directions. He spun at the sound of a woman’s shriek. Without thinking he notched an arrow and loosed it towards the sound, he hurried over to see who had been attacked. His heart leapt into his throat at the thought of Tana lying in a pool of blood, a Revenant lowering its head to her still bleeding neck. Innes shock such images from his mind and readied another arrow.

L’Arachel shrieked again as she was thrown from her horse by the force of the Entombeds blow. Her shoulder was blazing from where an arrow had skimmed in before driving into the monster that was shambling towards her. She stiffened as she felt the monstrosities cold, dead hands wrap around her wrists and hoist her into the air. L’Arachel gagged as the decaying creature brought its face close to hers, she turned her head to avoid it’s clumsily attempt to bite her lips. She continued to squirm in monsters grip; she kicked futilely at its unfeeling thighs.

Innes squinted down his arrow shaft, he couldn’t hit the Entombed because L’Arachel was squirming so much. ‘Damn it woman! Just hold still!’ Unfortunately this silent command was ignored, in fact L’Arachel started to struggle more as the Entombed shifted its grip on her wrists so it held her up with one hand.

L’Arachel’s shrieks were brought to a halt as the Entombeds now free hand close around her mouth. She gagged as the rotting flesh invaded her mouth, her eyes widening in horror as the Entombeds blackened tongue slowly extended out of its ruined mouth. She closed her eyes as she felt the disgusting thing trail along her cheek. ‘Is this it?’ L’Arachel thought as tears began to stream down her eyes ‘am I doomed to become an undead servant of the Demon King?’ She shuddered as the things black tongue found the wound on her shoulder. The Entombed began to lap hungrily at her fresh blood; she had to fight down the urge to vomit as the thing latched its rotting mouth onto her wound and began to suck on it, as if it was desperately trying to drain her of blood.

Innes threw down his bow and charged at the monster, an unintelligible scream of animalistic fury tearing from his throat. The creature raised its head from L’Arachels shoulder just in time to catch Innes’s fist in its jaw. Rotting flesh and thick, black blood flew in all directions. The Entombed released L’Arachel and raked its claws along Innes’s arm. The prince winced but didn’t stop attacking; he drove his fists into the undead and was rewarded but having more chunks of rotting flesh tear loose. The Entombed slashed Innes across the torso, causing him to fall back and clutch at the deep gashes.

L’Arachel’s eyes widened in horror as the monster advanced on Innes ‘he can’t die like this, trying to save me from myself’ the young woman continued to sob bitterly at the thought of Innes dying because of her mistake.

Innes shouted in fury as the thing shambled towards him, its hands out stretched, groping at his bleeding chest. The prince shouted again and lunged at the corpse, ‘I will not die! I have no reason to die!’ Another shout tore loose from his throat as he drove his fist into the undead creatures face.

L’Arachel watched as Innes’s fist tore through the Entombeds head and out the other side. She gasped as the creature fell down backwards, its decaying flesh and black blood spilling out around it.

Innes tore his fist free from the Entombeds destroyed head, he shock it in a half hearted attempt to dislodge some of the blood and flesh. He turned to the still weeping L’Arachel and smiled, before collapsing.

L’Arachel stared at Innes’s prone form for a moment before tentatively reaching out to touch the wounds on his chest. She withdrew her hand with a squeak of fright as Innes groaned and coughed up a trickle of blood. L’Arachel’s eyes widened as she heard the slow, shambling footsteps of more Entombeds coming closer, drawn to the smell of fresh blood. She grabbed Innes under his arms and started to drag him away, she paused when she heard a soft whiny from her horse. She looked back at the poor beast, one of its legs was broken from the fall and a deep gash ran along its side from where the Entombeds claws had caught it. L’Arachel looked into the horses frantic eyes “I’m sorry” she whispered before resuming dragging Innes down a corridor away from the approaching undead. She pulled him into one of the tower of Valnis abandoned rooms and slammed the heavy door behind her. She closed her eyes and tried to block out the frantic shrieks of her horse as the undead began to feast on it.

Innes opened his eyes and wished he hadn’t, he was in a world of pain. His arms and chest were felt like they were burning and his back was throbbing as if somebody had dragged him across sharp rocks. “You’re finally awake!” A frantic voice shouted from behind him. Innes sat up and hissed in pain before turning to face the owner of the voice. “L’Arachel” he said slowly, trying to block out the pain. “What happened?” The green haired woman looked terrified. “You saved me” she mumbled, before flushing scarlet and looking at her feet. Innes groaned and tried to stand up, he failed miserably and collapsed back into a sitting position. He wrapped his arms around his chest, trying to keep at least some warm in him. The princes eyes widened in shock when realisation dawned on him. He was sitting in a room, alone with L’Arachel, and his was naked except for the thin sleeping pants he wore under his trousers. “L’Arachel” he began, desperately trying to keep his voice under control “Why in the name of all that is sacred are my clothes?” The Valkyrie blushed furiously.

“I had to remove them to treat your wounds!” She snapped. Innes fumed at her

“I guessed that!” he shouted “Where are they now?” L’Arachel glared at Innes.

“I just saved your life!” She said indignantly “You could at least show some gratitude!”

“Gratitude!” Innes had to fight down the urge to throttle the woman. “My life was only in danger because I saved you!”

“I was completely in control of the situation!” She roared back ‘God!’ She thought bitterly ‘This man is impossible!

“You were about to have your throat ripped out by an Entombed! That’s hardly 'in control'!” L’Arachel blushed at the sharp reminder of how much she owed him.

“So? If it hadn’t been for me you would have bleed to death if you were lucky!” Innes narrowed his eyes.

“Where are my clothes?” he hissed, at this moment he would have preferred to have been fighting the Demon King with a bread knife rather than stuck here with her. L’Arachel shifted uneasily and jerked her head to the small fire in the centre of the room. Innes looked at the fire, ‘she wouldn’t have’ he caught sight of a patch of blue with gold trim before it was consumed. ‘She did’ Innes rounded on L’Arachel, who shrank back into the corner under his gaze. “They were soaked in blood! They wouldn’t have been any good anyway!” Her statement did little to calm Innes. Right now he wanted to murder her, very, very, very slowly. “I’m sorry!” She squeaked and tried to back up further, but failed as her back came into contact with the cold stone. Innes seemed towered over her, without warning he grabbed her shoulders roughly ‘this is it!’ she thought ‘he’s going to kill me!’ Innes crushed L’Arachel against the wall and pushed his body up against hers. ‘He’s trying to crush me! I can feel my bones shattering!’ L’Arachel opened her mouth the scream, but was silenced as Innes lips crushed down on hers. Her eyes flew open in surprise as the Frelian princes tongue thrust into her mouth. He drew back ever so slightly and gazed into her eyes. L’Arachel gasped; all anger was gone from his eyes, in its place was a mixture of emotions. Lust, need, desire and love. “Innes!” she squeaked “this is highly improper and hardly the time!” Innes growled in the back of his throat. “Oh really?” he said “then why are looking at me like you want to?” L’Arachel blushed.

“But we’re not married and it goes against the church-!” Whatever protests L’Arachel was about to voice were cut short as Innes kissed her again. The prince began to slowly back towards the fire, half carrying half dragging L’Arachel with him. He sat down and dragged L’Arachel into his lap, still kissing her desperately. L’Arachel pushed Innes’s face back from hers and looked lovingly into his eyes. “I love you Innes…”

“I love you too” L’Arachel crinkled her eyebrows

“You didn’t let me finish. I love you Innes, if you admit that Rausten is Frelias superior in every way.” Innes growled, and then smiled.

“You know there are other ways for us to compare our countries…” L’Arachel raised an eyebrow

“Do tell Innes”

“We should compare how their people cope under all circumstances.” L’Arachel’s face broke into a smile that mirrored Innes’s. “Which field should we test first?” Innes groaned and kissed her again.

“I think I have an idea…” L’Arachel giggled and kissed him back.

Ephraim picked up a discarded silver bow. “This is defiantly Innes’s” he said showing it to Eirika and Tana. Tana’s eyes began to water “brother, please be safe” Eirika put an arm comfortingly around her shoulders.

“Don’t worry Tana.” She said “I’m sure Innes is alright.” Ephraim cast his eyes around, there was L’Arachels horse ‘or’ he thought in disgust ‘at least what’s left of it’. Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of blood. He cast his eyes up the trail it had left. “Come on!” he said grabbing Eirika by the arm “this way!” He set off at a run ‘you’d better not be dead Innes, I still haven’t beaten you yet!’

The three companions stopped in front of a door, there were muffled sounds coming from within. “They’re in here” Ephraim kicked in the door and readied his lance, and froze when he saw what had been causing the sounds. Innes was sitting down with L’Arachel in his lap, they both looked like they were trying to suck each others faces off. L’Arachel leapt out of Innes’s lap and blushed. “Oh! Is everything over already?” she fiddled with on of her outfits shoulder straps. Innes glared at Ephraim.

“Umm. Innes?” Ephraim began slowly. The prince didn’t do anything expect glare. “Where are your clothes?” Innes cast an amused glance at L’Arachel

“She burnt them.” Ephraim’s jaw fell open.

“I’ve heard of women doing strange things in fits of passion but this…?” he cast a sidelong glance at Tana, who blushed furiously. This comment earned him a blow from the flat of Eirika’s rapier. “Ow” he rubbed his head and glared at his sibling. Tana didn’t seem to be able to look at Innes, in fact she apparently found her shoes very interesting at this awaked moment, and Eirika was to busy chastising her brother to care. Innes sighed and stood up, he wrapped his arms around L’Arachel “we’ll have to continue this later.” She giggled and kissed him on the cheek. ‘It’s a good life this’ Innes thought as he watched Eirika kick Ephraim in the shines for making gagging noises when L’Arachel had kissed him. ‘To be alive and among friends.’ It seemed so alien for Innes even to think of these people as friends, but after everything they’d gone through together it wasn’t a surprise. “I’m going to get some clothes” he shot another playful look at L’Arachel “don’t burn these ones.” She blushed, ‘oh yes’ he thought ‘it is defiantly good to be alive’.

End.
