Amarië's Lament
For Findaráto Ingoldo, later called Finrod
Moonlight hits the sundering sea
As I wait for you, my love
Pearls scattered on desolate beaches
A beautiful world
Sunsets grace the shore
Where sand mixed with the blood
Of your kin
During a dark time that we curse
Blood shed by everyone but you
Yet you are held accountable
You beheld the burning of white wood
Across the starlit sea
Despite it, you followed them
For what? Pride that runs through
Your noble veins, inherent from who?
Reasonless, crossed the Ice
Returning to the starry darkness
That we escaped so many years ago
Leaving me behind, alone, forsaken
Because I would not join you
In the descent to folly
And you would not stay, even for me.
Moonlight hits the sundering sea
As I wait for you, my love
Wondering, will you will still remember Amarië
Or did my name set with the rising of the moon?
Or has the curse of Mandos taken you hostage?
For in my heart, I fear the wrath
Of sword or axe or werewolf bite
Moonlight hits the sundering sea
As I wait for you, my love
Do you wait for me?
