Ok this story was originally Arrival Due To Death but i thought 'The New Speedle' would be better so i changed the title and rewrote the chapter. So please read and enjoy and please please please review!

Chapter One – Arrival Due To Death

She sat opposite the large empty chair waiting for Lieutenant Caine. She was nervous; she sat twiddling with the end of her shirt.

Horatio Caine came into the office and looked at the female figure in front of him. She had long dark hair and deep, dark, brown eyes. She wore jeans and a pale blue shirt. Her body showed she was far from unfit.

He sat in his chair opposite her, reading her file, looking at her and back to the file. He looked back up, a confused look on his face. “Sorry I’m late Miss…is it Speedle or Andrews, Kelly? Your file says both.”

“Andrews is my father’s name, sir but I took Speedle when Tim’s family took me in.”

“Kelly, Tim recommended you to me and your old supervisor Detective Mac Taylor has said good things. So I have just one question are you an Andrews or a Speedle?”

“Umm…I’m a Speedle.”

“That’s what I thought when I saw you. Well Kelly Speedle, welcome to Miami Dade Crime Lab.”

“Thank you sir.”

“Oh and Kelly, no sirs or Lieutenant from my team, just call me Horatio.”

“Yep, got it.”

“Well now, I’ve got all the information I need. I’ll show you around the lab…you’ll be on a case with Eric Delko.” Along the way, Horatio introduced her to everyone in the lab.

The break room was empty apart from one Eric Delko sitting at a table listening to music on his MP3 player. Horatio tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around taking off his headphones before standing up in front of his boss and the stranger in front of him. “Eric…this is Kelly.”

“Pleased to meet you.” She held out her hand and he shook it. He looked at her questionably. “What?”

“I feel as if I’ve seen you before.”

“You have…at Tim’s funeral.” Horatio said. “You are working together on a homicide. Here’s the address…I have to go…Yelina and Calleigh are waiting for me in interrogation. Keep me informed. See you both later.” They nodded.

“We should get to the scene, Eric.”

“I agree… I’ll drive…if that’s ok?”

“Yeah sure…just get me there in one piece and I’ll be happy.” He smiled at her.

“I won’t make any promises but I’ll try.” She smiled at him and picked up her kit. They walked to the Hummer and Eric put both their kits in the back.

The drive wasn’t long. The silence between them was strange. Eric had to break it. “So you’re from Syracuse…what brings you to Miami?”

“Tim did actually…he wanted me to move down to Miami and work in the lab. He said that I needed out of New York.”

“I thought I’d seen you before. Shame I had to meet someone like you on such bad grounds.”

“Umm…Someone like me?”

“Oh I didn’t mean it like it sounded…I meant someone as beautiful as you…meeting someone who likes like you does… on such bad reason…I mean…”

“Eric…stop it ok…I get it and thanks…” He smiled and sighed. He was making a fool out of himself in front of someone so gorgeous. She was defiantly a laid back person but Eric could tell if she was anything like Speedle then she’d be more than serious about her job.

“So how did you know Speed?”

“We grew up together…he was my best friend…his mom even took me in when things got bad and I lived with them.”

“So you’re his sister Kelly?”

“Umm…I’m the only Kelly Speedle that I know off.”

“He said it was a weird relationship but you were basically like his sister.”

“Ok…yeah I guess I am that Kelly …I mean we weren’t related but people thought I was a Speedle.”

“Really…”

“It was because I have dark hair, brown eyes, and sarcastic attitude that people thought we were related.”

“Sarcastic…really you?”

“Sometimes but I did pick it up from Tim.”

“Well I think it will be good to have some sarcasm around the lab again…we’ve all kinda been a bit low since Ryan came and well the whole team hasn’t been the same so maybe someone close to him will be able to fill the gap. We’re here.”

“I won’t make any promises but I’ll try.” He laughed. Maybe she’d fill the gap.
