Midnight Memories
A midnight black figure jumped the roof tops in the middle of the night. Sitting up on top of a hill, he stared up at the big moon. The plant's natural satilite glowed bright in the endless black sky as the stars twinkled.
So much had happened to him in the past few years. So much pain. He wished that he could forget all of it but there are some things that we just can't control.
Running with his sister in the grassy field, they played tag for hours. The sun shawn brightly and a light breeze played with the tall green grass.
Walking over to the edge of the cliff, he saw a pretty red flower. He knew that his sister would love it. He carefully climbed down to the ledge and picked it gently from the ground.
Looking up at his sister, he reached his hand out to give it to her but the ground underneath him started to crumble. Time seemed to go in slow motion as it felt like he fell off the edge of the earth.
The last thing he saw was his sister trying to grab him before he fell down the giant cliff.
Shaking his head, he tried to clear those horrible memories. But it only brought back more. His eyes gazed back up at the moon and wished apon a bright star; wished that the memories would leave.
He opened his eyes to see that he was laying in a pool of his own blood. He tried to move his legs to get up but yelled out in great pain as his legs were bent unnaturally.
He was in unbearable pain. He didn't know where he was and whatever had happened was all a blur. All that he knew was that he was in great pain. So much that he out again due to the pain throughout his body and amount of blood loss.
His mind remembered the pain from so long ago. Piecing yellow eyes shown with fire as he tried to force those painful memories out of his mind. But they wouldn't go away.
A low beep signaled that the patient's heart was failing. Doctors worked faster to try and save the boy but they had almost ran out of hope. They had been working on the boy for hours, trying their hardest to save him. But the child was in seriously critical condition.
Just then, the heart monitor showed life in the patient and the doctors let out their sigh of relief and continued to work on the body to try and save the poor boy.
After twenty long hours under the knife, the boy was going to be ok. Ok but not the same. He would never be the boy that he was before. His entire life would be different.
A man walked into the boy's room and smiled an evil smile. "You have been reborn."
The blanket moved a bit as the man shadowed started to rub the body like he was petting a cat. "You have been reborn into the body of a panther."
As on cue to the sound of the man's voice, the body sat up and the blanket fell off his head, revealing the said black panther.
"I shall name you Data Seven."
Looking up at the big silver moon once again, wishing that he was up there, away from the world. The black panther moaned in sadness and laid down in the grass, resting his giant head on his black deadly paws.
More memories. This time of after the surgery. His training had begun right after he recovered from the operation. His new 'master' put him through rigorous exercises, running through obstacles, fighting other monsters and other types of training.
The giant ogre smashed his fists down on the ground to try and hit the black cat but he was too fast and moved out of the way. He and the monster were closed in a giant dome colaseum, fighting that would surely mean death for the loser.
"Good Data Seven, good." His shadowed master praised. "Phase five."
Four more ogres came out of their cages and started to attack the panther. Dodging each fist with agile moves, Data Seven landed on his feet and his legs started to shake. He was training too much today and he needed a rest. But he knew that his 'master' wouldn't allow it.
he snapped out of his thoughts just in time to see the creatures attack. Jumping out of the way, he dodged another fist but didn't see the other ugly orge's hand come from the right. It contacted with his body and set him flying, hitting the wall with a thud.
With the training becoming harder and harder as the years went on, his body slowly became used to the muscle ache and broken bones. After the years of hard, tough training, his 'master' said that it was now time to go on his first mission. He was to hunt down and kill the one his 'master' called Cybersix.
Cybersix. That name brought back yet more memories. His 'master' told him of how he created this 'Cybersix' and she had gotten away from him and he needed to get her back.
After weeks of hunting, he had finally found her and it was time to get her. Their meeting was a bit awkward and, more or less dangerous. He was on the mission to kill her and yet he didn't know back then who she really was.
The women dressed in black leather stood a few feet away from him with the red headed boy shaking behind her. They were trapped on a overhanging pillar in an old warehouse with the big panther standing in front of them.
The boy had fallen off the pillar and heading for the ground to his death when the black cat jumped after him, saving him and returning him to the women. The panther had saved the boy when really he was supposed to kill him and the women.
When he had attacked the women, he slashed at her chest, making a picture fall out of her coat. That picture was very important to the women and it landed down right in front of the panther.
Yellow eyes looked down at the old, slightly torn photograph. The picture showed a little boy and girl smiling for the person who had taken the picture. That was when realized that the girl in the picture was the women standing in front of him, grown up.
And he... he was the little boy in the picture.
Cybersix was that little girl with him that day of the accident. Cybersix was his sister. He looked up at the women, named Cybersix and saw that she really cared about the picture. She cared about the boy.
Taking one last look at the picture he swiped his mighty paw, sending the picture back to her.
She picked it up and looked at it. His sharp claws had cut it, right on the little boy's forehead. She looked over at the black, mighty panther in front of her and gasped when she saw a scar above his left eye.
"Twenty Nine?" She whispered out.
Twenty Nine... that was his old name. His name back when he was a boy, a human boy.
He nodded his head and saw a smile appear on her face and tears form at the corners of her eyes. They had been reunited after so many years.
A crow 'caahed' above him and his ear flicked towards the sound. Yellow eyes gazed up at the stars in the midnight, black sky. He used to look up at the stars when he was younger, when he was a boy. They were still the same stars, but he looked at them through different eyes now.
"Twenty Nine." Cybersix smiled and ran over to the black panther and gave him a hug around the neck. The black panther, in turn, gave her kiss by licking her with his big tongue. "My brother."
'My brother' echoed in his ears. He was still her brother, panther body and all.
A black ear twitched as he heard footsetps behind him. He could tell that it was her, he would never forget her scent of strawberries.
"What are you up to Data Seven?" She asked, sitting down beside him on the grass. "Looking up at the moon I see."
The said panther looked over at her and licked her cheek. Cybersix laughed and gave him a hug around the neck.
"I'm so happy that you're back." She whispered, kissing the fur on his neck. "I missed you."
Data Seven started to purr, one of the many new abilities he had now that he was a cat. He purred loudly and nuzzled her neck in affection.
'I missed you too.' He silently purred.
After the hug, they sat in the quiet night and watched the stars together. He was finally at peace with himself. He had found his sister and she found him.
The midnight memories were now at peace.
