A MATTER OF TRUST
It doesn’t matter where Sara found or how she found out. Only that she had found out. Only that Grissom did not trust her. Only that he thought so little of her as to not let her know, that for just a brief moment he was going deaf. He didn’t lie - at least not to her face. He just didn’t tell her the truth. He just omitted telling her about a potentially life-altering condition.
And what’s worse, is the hind sight, Sara knew he was acting stranger than usual. Yet she thought at the time it was Grissom being Grissom - afraid of her, afraid of what she could offer. Now she thinks she should have pushed harder, dug deeper- he knew sign language for God’s sake! They don’t teach that in high school - at least not in any high school she knows of.
But, that’s not the worst of it, the worst is that she knew. Catherine Willows, that oversexed redhead knew about Grissom’s condition! She figured it out, she alone got past his well crafted walls - or maybe he volunteered the information during one of their “business breakfasts”or perhaps during a post-coital cuddle. Either way she was there to wish him luck before the operation. She was there to take care of him and comfort him after the operation. He trusted that bitch in a way that he has never trusted anyone else on the team - ever.
Maybe Eddie’s right, maybe they are fucking each other in his office. Or maybe, he is too much of a coward to just tell her the truth, to tell her to her face that he doesn’t love her. That he has never loved her. That his heart belongs to another. To let her go so she can decide what to do with her life, instead of panting around him like a bitch in heat. Not that she would leave Las Vagas, she has roots here and even friends. But it would just be a nice relief, a blessing really if he just trusted her for a moment and told her the truth.
