Part 1/1

-ooOoo-

"Take me out to the ballgame. Take me outwith the crowd."

Spock could hear singing, loud, boisterous singing, coming from Nurse Chapel's quarters.

"Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack."

He hesitated depressing the call button. If the sound was this loud out in the corridor with the door closed, how much more cacophonous would it be once the door opened?

"I don't care if I ever get back."

That is, if she even heard the door chime.

"And it's root, root, root for the home team. If they don't win it's a shame."

Spock repeated to himself, "There is no pain, there is no pain," as he prepared for the auditory assault as he signaled his arrival and the doors opened.

"For it's ONE, TWO, THREE strikes, you're out, at the old ball gaaaaame!" Christine nearly bellowed.

Spock could hear "the roar of the crowd" coming from the nurse's speakers. So, she had been singing along with the computer, he noticed. He would have to examine the lyrics at another time.

"Spock!" Christine exclaimed happily. "Ready for a great game of baseball?"

"I am ready to observe a game of baseball," he stated smugly. "Whether it will be 'great' remains to be seen."

Christine tossed her glove at Spock playfully. "Have some faith in my team!" she protested before sidling up to him. "What would really make it great is if you would play, too." She ran her fingers down his arm. "You would make a great pitcher. It wouldn't take much work."

"But I have never before pitched a baseball," Spock pointed out.

Christine continued to stroke his arm teasingly and spoke into his ear, allowing her breath to find his very sensitive organ. "But you already know the science of it. It's all vectors and angles and force."

Spock shivered in spite of himself.

"I will observe today," he insisted. "I will decide whether I will 'play' with you afterwards."

Christine jerked her head up just in time to catch the twinkle in Spock's eye. Their relationship was still in the budding phase, but Christine swore there was a marked increase of sexual innuendos and double entendres peppering Spock's speech. No time to think about that now, she scolded herself as she looked at the time.

Christine settled her hat on her head, pulling her blonde ponytail out through the hole in the back of the cap. She slung her cleats over her shoulder for changing into on the field, picked up her bat, retrieved her glove from Spock and moved to the door, looking like a Norman Rockwell painting come to life yet all grown up.

"Coming?" she asked Spock as she peered at him over her shoulder coyly.

Christine chuckled to herself as Spock dutifully tailed her out of her quarters to the Transporter Room. She deliberately walked, or rather, sashayed several steps ahead of Spock, knowing full well how much more revealing the baseball trousers were than even her short uniform skirt. She would have to be sure to seat Spock right at first base so that he could get a good view of the game.

The game. Yeah, right.

"Take me out to the ballgame . . ."
