"Talking"
'Thoughts'
There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea.
You became the light on the dark side of me.
Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill.
Heero Yuy walked down the dark empty streets one night. One name sat at the tip of his tongue, and one face seemed to haunt his mind. Heero frowned in thought and shoved his hands in his pockets. He lowered his face from the cold winter wind and though to himself. 'Relena... why can't I get you out of my mind?' his brooding attitude carried his feet along, not really seeing where he was going. Heero walked into a park almost blindly. Once he realized where he was, he leaned against a tree. "Relena..." he muttered aloud, a vision of her breathtaking smile and gentle eyes swarming in front of his vision.
But did you know,
That when it snows,
Heero heard foot steps crunch in the newly fallen snow behind him. Years of training had taught him to be aware of his surroundings, however, he had been caught off guard... as he always was when his thoughts drifted to the Vice Foreign Minister. He peered to the other side of a tree, making sure to stay hidden, and saw a the silhouette of a woman sit on the nearby bench. Heero leaned in closer and realized it was the object of his thoughts – and often fantasies. 'She's here...' he thought in surprise.
My eyes become large and,
The light that you shine can be seen.
It had been an entire year since he saw her, she had grown so much in that time. 'Beautiful...' he thought to himself with wide eyes before he could stop the thought. He waited for the scolding to come but... for once, his other half agreed with him, he smirked inwardly, knowing the large length of time without fighting had softened him a bit. Frankly, at the moment, he didn't care! Heero, for once, decided to greet her instead of continue to hide in the shadows.
Baby,
I might compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.
Ooh,
The more I get of you
Stranger it feels, yeah.
And now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the gray.
Relena had been sitting peacefully on the bench in the park, just watching the snow gently fall around her. It was quite beautiful here in winter, so quiet, so calming. The quiet was interrupted however with the sound of footstep. She heard someone drawing closer and sprung up, fearing for the worst. While she knew it was foolish to be wandering around alone, she couldn't help ditching her bodyguards for a chance for some much needed privacy... she hardly got much of that anymore. She whirled around to see who was there and the person stepped into the light. "Heero?" she questioned in a strangled and surprised voice.
Heero fought with the urge to smile at her, wondering why he never let himself express many emotions, especially those emotions. Instead, he settled for tilting his head to the side, then nodding to her in greeting. "Hello, Relena. Long time no see..." he answered. Relena had no trouble smiling and did so at him. Heero could feel his already unstable – at least when it came to being around her – defensive walls crumble. He could feel his heart melt at the caring smile she graced him with. Oh to snow that had fallen on her lips... wait, where'd that thought come from?
"Heero?" Relena questioned again. It was then that Heero realized that he had yet to respond to her and had been standing there, staring at her blankly. Oh why the hell not... Heero worked his facial muscles and managed to returned the smile. The light that shone in her eyes when he smiled back at her was simply enchanting and had him stepping closer to her. He wanted to bask in her glow... who knew smiling at her could elicit such a beautiful look from her?
There is so much a man can tell you,
So much he can say.
"Heero... you're here... you're back! Why did you leave?" Relena asked him, sadness marring her gorgeous face and a single drop of a tear falling down her cheeks. Heero frowned at the sight, not at all liking it when he saw cry. He walked closer to her and she froze in the spot as his hand reached up to her cheek. Heero tentatively smiled once more before he wiped the tear away.
"Relena... I'm sorry I left," Heero answered lamely.
"Why did you leave, Heero?" Relena questioned once more. Heero gazed at her a moment, collecting his thoughts before taking a deep breath and answering as truthfully at he could.
"I left because I was trying to figure out my life," he began. "I've always only known war and fighting... I had to see if there was more to life than that. I was also trying to figure out... my emotions..." he told her softly. Heero's lip tilted up once more into a ghost of a smile when she visibly relaxed and grinned at him, a knowing look crossing her features.
You remain,
My power, my pleasure, my pain.
Baby, to me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?
"And what have you found in your searches?" Relena asked curiously, smiling warmly.
"Well..." Heero began, taking another few steps toward her. Relena's heart fluttered at his proximity... he was so close she could feel his hot breath on her cheeks. "I found that I can't stay away from you..." he answered sincerely. Heero watched Relena's eyes widened. Her eyes searched his, he managed another smile and abruptly drew her into a warm hug. Relena tensed, completely surprised by the show of affection, but then relaxed and melted into his inviting embrace. This was definitely new, but she wasn't about to start complaining!
But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.
The snow began falling a little harder and the two felt it's soft caress on their cheeks. Relena looked up at the sky and laughed happily. Heero raised an eyebrow at her silly behavior but couldn't help but feel her joy seep into him. Where it might have confused him before, it felt almost comfortable now.
Baby,
I might compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.
Ooh, the more I get of you
stranger it feels, yeah.
Heero couldn't help but laugh with her, though it was nowhere near as care-free as her laughter. Heero was still getting used to releasing his emotions so this was a big step for him. Funny how Relena could bring the best out of even him. While he didn't know why he was laughing, he felt it right to. Heero's arms seemed to have a mind of their own as they squeezed her a little tighter. Before he could stop himself, he lifted her slightly off the ground, catching her attention, and spun her around in his arms, twirling her on the spot. Relena's laughter bounced off the trees and Heero felt the weak smile he had been sporting stretch across his handsome face. Who was he kidding? It was so good to see her again!
Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the gray,
After a little while, Heero set Relena back down on the soft snow and stared into her eyes. Relena stared right back, her eyes still dancing with mirth. "You've changed so much..." she observed and grinned at him happily. Heero's features softened into an affectionate look, surprising the girl in his arms once more, and nodded in agreement.
"I suppose I have. Being away from war and violence, and only being able to think, can have that effect on someone..." he answered. Relena was the one to initiate the embrace this time, hugging him close to her before pulling away to look deep into his eyes.
I've been kissed by a rose on the gray,
I've been kissed by a rose ( on the gray)
...And if I should fall, at all
I've been kissed by a rose (on the gray)
Heero saw the longing in her eyes and knew he felt the same... his body moved on its own accord as he leaned into her. Relena stilled, still gazing up at him. 'Is he really going to kiss me?' she thought, feeling dizzy by the very though. Her thoughts were silenced and question was answered when she felt his warm, slightly chapped lips against hers. To her, it felt like heaven. Heero thought Relena didn't want to kiss him at first, for she had just stood there unresponsive. He began to pull away but stopped when he finally felt her kiss him back.
Heero smiled into the kiss and leaned into her once again, making her hang back. Relena yelped when she had been bent backwards and felt him take the opportunity to deepen the kiss. She was glade that he held her to him so she wouldn't fall but frankly, the kiss was so incredible that she didn't really care if they fell to the floor at that moment.
There is so much a man can tell you,
So much he can say.
Heero pulled back, helping Relena straighten once more, and looked into her eyes. She was flushed and her lips were a bit bruised... to him, it was incredibly hot, especially considering he was the cause of such a flustered look. Heero felt himself smirk pridefully and grabbed her hands, gently caressing her knuckles. "Relena..." he started a bit awkwardly.
"Hm?" the girl answered, clearly still dazed and stunned by the most amazing kiss she ever had. Heero swallowed nervously, kicking himself for being such a loser. Honestly, he could face down a hundred Mobile-Dolls and come face to face with his own demise... and yet telling this girl how he felt about her had him shaking at the knees! It was pathetic! And yet... perhaps not so much. Relena could inspire the whole spectrum of emotions in Heero, something not even war and death could... it was kind of daunting. Yet, he wouldn't have it any other way.
Breathing in deeply once more, Heero spoke softly... so softly that Relena almost had to strain to hear his words. "I love you..." he told her in a quiet voice.. Relena stood there in stunned silence, simply staring into his eyes.
You remain
My power, my pleasure, my pain.
Heero began to get worried then. He felt a sharp stab of pain in his chest when she didn't answer. His smile faded away and he began to turn, saying he was sorry for blurting something like that out so suddenly. Right, like the dove of peace would ever want anything to do with a lowly grunt like him... however, before he could turn, he felt her hand catch his wrist, keeping him from leaving. He turned back to her and saw her lips curl into a wide, happy smiled. When he saw that she was not rejecting him, Heero felt a smile of his own twist his mouth. Before he knew it, she threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly and laughing joyfully. Heero sighed inwardly in relief and happily returned the hug.
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby.
Relena felt Heero rock them back and forth. Slowly it became a waltz, and a memory of them dancing waltzed across her vision. Relena smiled encouragingly as Heero took her hands in his and lead her into a dance. He twirled her around, then brought her back to him, she smiled brightly and his eyes softened once more, affection making said eyes glimmer like deep pools of water.
But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and,
the light that you shine can be seen.
The snow stopped falling but a lot of it still clung to their hair. Heero shook his head violently, spraying the snow all over the place. Relena burst into giggles and softly grabbed ahold of his cheeks, keeping his head still. She was more than surprised when his cheeks because slightly tinted... did he just blush? Heero was clearly embarrassed as Relena smirked and ran her fingers through his messy hair, helping him brush off the snow. 'What do you know, he can blush!'
Baby,
I might compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray,
Ooh, the more I get of you
Stranger it feels, yeah
"Heero?" she asked, biting her lip nervously.
"Hn?" Heero responded, raising an eyebrow at her sudden change in attitude.
"Stay with me?"
Heero smiled once more, finally feeling like he got a hang of those pesky facial muscles and Relena yelped when he picked her up bridal style and spun her around again. "Mission accepted!" he said and laughed once more, pleasantly surprising her again.
Now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the gray.
He brought her to his chest and kissed her hair then rested his chin in her head. Relena clung onto his neck and snuggled close. "You changed so much..." she repeated softly. She still couldn't believe it... not only had he changed, but he actually returned her feelings he had for him! It was pretty unbelievable.
Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.
Ooh, the more I get of you
stranger it feels, yeah.
Heero set her down again, pulling away from the kiss – instantly missing the warmth of her arms - and took her hand, walking down the path in the park. For once in his life, he felt truly happy... and it was with her. It was then that he realized that he always truly felt happy when he was near her. He felt soothed, fulfilled, and joyful in her presence... it was intoxicating. Whenever she was not by his side, he felt torn and lost and generally grouchier.
Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the gray,
Relena leaned her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes, letting him lead her where ever he wanted to go. "Relena?" he asked quietly, she looked up to his eyes. His face, while not devoid of emotions as his tone had suggested it would be, was completely serious and thoughtful.
"Yeah?" she replied curiously. What could be so serious? She smiled when his serious expression once again softened and he smiled.
"Marry me?" he asked abruptly, almost shyly. 'I can't stand being away from her...' he thought, knowing this was rushing things but not caring. Perhaps this was the answer to his constant ache when she was not by his side. Perhaps this was his antidote... perhaps she was his antidote? He knew it was too fast, but he felt it was right. Relena's eyes almost popped out of their sockets by the request. Her jaw dropped slightly as he pulled out a red, velvet box out of his pocket and held out a beautiful gold and silver ring. Was he serious?
"Heero! I... when did you?" Relena shook her head, trying to clear it of her shock and disbelief. While a nagging little part of her told her it was some sort of sick, demented joke, she knew better than that. "...Yes, I'll marry you, Heero," she agreed happily, smiling broadly. Part of her was still felt greatly confused, but a larger part of her was too happy to care. Heero turned and hugged her tight again, she laughed and cried into his chest and he rocked them again.
"I wonder what your brother will think... Mrs Relena Yuy," Heero smirked. "Hmm, that sounds nice..." he added thoughtfully.
Relena grinned and giggled. "You know what, for once, I don't care what people think about what's happening in my life. If my brother doesn't like it, well... to bad," she declared. Heero chuckled and pulled her closer.
"That's my girl," he murmured in her hair. Relena laughed softly and closed her eyes again as her head rested against his chest. She held still and listened to his steady heart beat. 'Relena Yuy... it does sound good...' she smiled at the name, she loved it, but not as much as she loved him. She always had and always would.
"I love you," Heero repeated, as if reading her thoughts.
Relena smiled tenderly in his coat and glanced up at him through her lashes. "And I you, forever and always..."
"Forever and always," he repeated in agreement.
Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the gray.
