Disclaimer- Danny Phantom belongs to Butch Hartman, not me. I just borrowed him for a while. This poem is a pantoum, a French form taken from a Malaysian form, stressing repetition and an almost songlike refrain. A Pantoum fits Danny, in my opinion, because they're less restrictive, slightly more scattered, but still based off the same roots as the Villanelle. If you don't know who I think the Villanelle is, go read "Temptation." I'll wait.

Doing What I Have To Do

Doing what I have to do
Weary, I can't stop to rest
Don't know how I'll make it through
Fearing I will fail the test.

Weary, I can't stop to rest
Pause, and I may be too late
Fearing I will fail the test
And become the thing I hate

Pause and I may be too late,
Live the scene my nightmares paint,
And become the thing I hate,
Too tired to fight back the taint

Live the scene my nightmares paint,
Humanity slipping away
Too tired to fight back the taint-
I'll let my demons out to play.

Humanity slipping away
Don't know how I'll make it through
I'll let my demons out to play,
Doing what I have to do.
