A Tribute to SasuSaku: You Know Where to Find Me

My first (and probably last) ever songfic, so be easy on the reviews. I polished this up today on September 18, 2007. Spoilers for chapter 181? 182?

Also, the following symbol (love in Japanese) represents a line break:

"Hello, Sasuke-kun."

"Hn."

The same exact greeting had been going on for as long as they both could remember. It had grown on Sasuke, and when she didn't greet him, he knew instantaneously that something had to be wrong. So when he left Konoha with the Sound Four and saw her on the road, he had to admit he was expecting the greeting maybe a tiny bit.

Just a little bit.

Okay, so he was absolutely expecting her to say, "Hello, Sasuke-kun" just so he could reply, "Hn".

I saw your sky fall down today
Suddenly turned from blue to gray
Till one by one the raindrops
Turned to tears upon your face

When she started to cry, he felt a small twinge of guilt. He couldn't explain it to her. It's not that he didn't think she would understand…she probably would have. But the feelings that were bottled up inside him…if he let them out, he would only worry her more. And he couldn't afford to do that right now.

Wish there was something I could do
Wish I could ease the pain from you
But I've never felt so helpless

Any words of comfort he gave to her would probably just spur up more persuasion out of her mouth. And if she ended up persuading him…he might have actually stayed. And he didn't want to stay. He had the task of an avenger.

There's something holding on to you so tight

She knew there was always something different about him. From the moment she realized what his ambition was…to kill that certain man…no. It was sooner than that. She knew he wasn't just training extra hard and striving at the top of the class for nothing. He had a purpose in his life and he intended to fulfill it.

There's no way she could stop him. She was holding out her hand, but he wouldn't take it, because he was so overwhelmed…with the feeling of loss and hate. That's what was holding on to him, and he wouldn't let it go.

So I guess this is all I say to you tonight…

"Sasuke-kun…I…"

"I like you so much, I can't stand it!" Sakura cried. Sasuke stopped.

"I would do anything for you…I'd die for you. If we were together, I'd make SURE that we'd be happy."

Sasuke didn't know what to say. She was speaking from her heart and they both knew it.

"Do you WANT to be lonely again?" she said. She was crying now. His heart lurched slightly.

"Even though I have friends and family…but without you in my life…I…I will still be lonely."

Sasuke thought he would crack in half. She would do anything for him. Even death. The thought of this made him feel…what was this feeling…guilt? He couldn't say anything. If he came back as a traitor, she still would just be waiting there…for him, and for him only. He knew that she would always be waiting. He was the one making her wait.

Sasuke closed his eyes. She would always be right by his side…even at death.

"There are different paths we must walk," he stated solemnly.

So, if the whole wide world is on your back

"Well, now it looks like Sakura's the best one at controlling her chakra," Kakashi said.

Naruto looked up from his spot on the ground, up at the trees. Sakura sat on a high branch, smiling proudly at herself.

"Hey, this is pretty easy!" She said, happily.

"That's my Sakura-chan!" Naruto exclaimed, jumping to his feet. Sasuke, however, looked down at the ground. His pride was swallowing him up. There was no way a girl was going to beat him.

Sasuke couldn't stay in Konoha. But, he was torn between leaving the freedom of being with Sakura and staying in Konoha, and taking a chance in imprisonment with Orochimaru. Was he just being used as some useless puppet?

I want you to remember…

She knew he couldn't answer her right now. He thought she wouldn't understand. She was just another person to him; nothing special…right? But she would never get tired of waiting for him, or reaching out to him. She would never give up. Not yet. He needed her, but even though he didn't say it. As she glanced at his back, she remembered that young serious boy she had come to know.

She would always be waiting for him, fighting for him…

…gripping his hand like there was no tomorrow…

…and just having the knowledge that she was there and would be there…

It gave him a little bit of comfort.
