Unmarked Grave
The only thought in her mind was why she never went back to Yale.

She never did go back to Yale.
No particular reason, just… didn't.
She lived with her grandparents until she was twenty-seven, her life briefly turned into a blur of secretarial work and D.A.R. functions.
Then, Richard died and Emily retreated into herself, she finally moved out.
Emily went two years later
She was married, briefly, in her thirties. She couldn't remember his name, but she remembers angstful brown eyes, dark hair, Italian olive skin and a love of literature.
Luke passed three weeks and a day before her thirty-ninth birthday. She didn't find out for eight months.
She reconciled with her mother at the age of forty-three, the result of pregnancy hormones. She was pregnant, for the first and only time.
Lorelai asked who. She could only remember angstful brown eyes and a book of Dostoevsky shorts.
Her daughter, her perfect Tess, barely made it a week. She cried for twenty minutes before going to work.
She penned one book in her life and Random House bought the manuscript. She turned fifty-eight the day it was published. Angstful Brown Eyes called and congratulated her.
She hung up.
Her mother passed when she was sixty-two.
When she was seventy-three, Angstful Brown Eyes showed up at her hospital room. She didn't remember him and he left after reading her White Nights.
At eighty and two days, she passed. The only thought in her mind was why she never went back to Yale.
