Liar

You said things were fine
And totally under control.
You didn't need my help
So I went about my usual business.
Was I too dumb to see it?
Too selfish to care?
I thought I knew you,
My dear friend,
As well as you knew
My dreams, my desires, my demons;
But in the end, I failed
To realize in time,
To see the truth.
I want to ask
Why did you keep secrets?
I want to hit you
For your recklessness,
I want to hate you
For deceiving me.
But above all,
I want to cry
For those who stood,
Watching their loved one laid to rest.
Why did you have to die
And leave me all alone?
