Child of Fire
By Silver Sailor Ganymede

If you looked at her, you wouldn't say that she was a soldier of fire. Her lush black hair and dark violet eyes make her seem more of a soldier of darkness than a soldier of fire. She seemed a child of night, not day. The phrase 'never judge a book by its cover' springs to mind, doesn't it?

She, with her rare elegance and grace, was too deep for many to even begin to comprehend. She seemed so cold on the outside that she could have been a child of ice, but inside she burned with the passion that marked her as a true, pure child of fire.

No other had penetrated her icy exterior in the way that I did. She remained cold to any prospect of love, until she met me. She was friendly towards others, yes, but love? She had never even entertained the thought before I came to her. Haruka was dead, and I knew that she would prefer that I follow my heart and love again rather than live under a sheet of ice, unloving, just as my fiery one had once done.

But I know her; I am, perhaps, the only one who truly ever has. I have always seen through her cold exterior to the raw passion beneath, and it is that love and passion that keeps both her and me here today. She loves me, I love her, and I know that she is not a child of ice, as so many would think. She is a child of fire, and that is how she controls the fires of passion and the fires of love. It is strange, isn't it, that the passion of a child of fire could only be woken by the love of a child of water and the oceans such as myself. I, the child of water, and she, the child of fire, opposites and yet in blissful, passionate love.

Yes, my lover is a child of Mars, a child of passion, and above all else she is a child of fire: and that is why I love her.
