Deakins looked up at the sound of knocking on his door.

"Oh God,what do they want now?" he asked himself

"Come in,come in"

"Thanks captain,we just want to ask you something." Alex smiled at Deakins

as she said it,hoping to soften the blow.

"What is it? And why can't it wait until I finish these reports?"

Bobby spoke then, "Um,it might affect what you put in ours,in fact I know

it will."

"What do you mean?If you two have done something stupid I'll,I'll . .actually

I don't know what I'll do"

"It might seem stupid to you, but it doesn't to us." Bobby smiled down at Alex,

willing her to help him.

"What Bobby is trying,and failing,to say is that I need some time off"

"Sure,you've got some leave due a minute,why do you need him

here? You could have asked me on your own,it's not as if I bite"

Bobby snorted

"What is it,what did I say?" demanded Deakins

"Nothing, nothing" said Alex,shooting daggers at Bobby "He's here because it

concerns him too"

"You mean having a temporary partner again,I suppose"

"Not exactly,um I, we, oh God,this is hard" said Bobby "Um, we're having a

baby" he rushed on

"We've been seeing each other for months and it just happened"

"You can't have, I'd have noticed if you were having a , scratch

that,you can be and you are.I did'nt notice 'cause you didn't want me to"

"Right didn't want anyone to know,if they did we'd have to stop

working together and we didn't want that"

"Well you'll have to stop working together now,even if it is only for a while.I

don't want to split you up and I'll just have to find a way round it."

"You mean. . ."

"Yeah, I'll have to bend some rules,but after last time I'm sure I time,

oh my God, Goren you're not gonna freak out on me again are you?"

"'ll be different this may not be at work with me, but she'll

still be here" Bobby touched his head "Last time, I didn't know how I felt

about Alex and I put myself through time I know how we feel about

each other. Plus it's partly my fault she won't be here." Bobby looked smug

"It's all your fault" Alex said,grinning at him "But don't worry, I'll help keep

him on the straight and I don't need time off yet, in about

4 months,yeah."

"OK you two,get 've given me a massive headache to sort out,don't

know how,but I will." He looked up at them as they made to leave his office

"And Bobby,Alex, congratulations." he smiled

Outside Deakins office Bobby turned to Alex "That went better than expected

didn't it?"

"Yeah now all we have to do is ask him for time off for a honeymoon." Alex said

"I think we'll have to leave that for a while, he's still in shock"

"So am on lets go home"

And, oblivious to everyone else,they left.
