Turnabout Intruder: The Simile & Metaphor Exercise

by Ster Julie

Rating: G, for goofy

Characters: Su, Sc, U

Disclaimer: I disavow any ownership of this bunch!

A/N: Someone on another group was having trouble helping her daughter as she worked on her grammar lesson on similes and metaphors. I wrote this to give her several examples of each. The similes are easy to find. Can you spot the metaphors?

-ooOoo-

"Captain Kirk is acting as mad as a hatter," Sulu commented to Scott in the Mess Hall.

"Aye," Scotty concurred, "an' crazier than a loon."

"And he scaring poor Pavel," Uhura commented. "Did you see him? He's as white as a sheet!"

"The whole crew is walking on eggshells," Sulu observed. "What happened to him?"

"He totally ruined the party I hosted last night," Uhura complained. "He was such a wet blanket."

"What did he do?" Scott asked.

"He was as cold as ice," Uhura explained, "and not his warm self. I never saw anyone blanket a room with such an icy stare before."

"Was he drinking?" Scott pressed.

"He carried a glass of liquid gold around the room," Uhura replied, "but I never saw him drink any. He just kept prowling the room, Spock and McCoy in tow like puppies trying to please their master."

"Yeah," Sulu concurred, "I saw that, too. Those two looked as nervous as long tailed cats in a room full of rocking chairs."

"Well," Scotty mused, "if the captain wasna drunk, what was eating him?"

"I don't know," Uhura mused. "If I didn't know better, I'd say he was bitchier than a pre-menstrual woman!"

END, thank goodness!
