He was dreaming again.

Tossing and turning, screaming as he slept.

He would cry out as he watched his family die, reaching to them as if it his dreams were real.

He had left the war behind, travelled thousands of miles and come home.

He couldn't tell his sisters what he'd seen, afraid they wouldn't understand.

Yet he told me, because, as they say, I never understand.

I was driven mad by reality, what might these dreams do to him?

I couldn't see as he saw, hear as he heard or smell as he smelt.

But I could offer comfort so I held him until he ceased shaking.
