Chapter 14, The Cure

The next morning was a strange one. Remy woke up to feeling a warm presence by his side and when he rolled over to see Rogue holding onto him...he smiled, then he looked down at his chest to see her cross dangling from his neck. All in all the memories of the past night flooded back to him...and he smiled. Finally he decided to cuddle closer to her and go back to sleep...no sense in waking up when she wasn't, he wanted to be there with her. Awake with her when she woke, to smile and laugh, and maybe, just maybe, have more of her.

A couple of hours later, Rogue woke to see Remy running his fingers through her hair. "Mornin' sugah..." She yawned. "How long yah been awake?"

"Oh, 'bout an' hour chere. Wen' back t' sleep, but den I couldn' 'cause y' hear wid moi an' y' look s' belle when y' sleepin'. Mon ange." He smirked.

"Ah'm no angel..." She smirked and rolled to see him. He looked so sexy slightly disheveled with his hair in soft wisps around his face...his eyes held a warm and loving glow and she just couldn't help the feeling of wanting to kiss him again. But who knew where that might lead. And she still had to find that book he was talking about to finally understand his other half.

Sighing she got up out of bed only to be pulled back down. "Where y' t'ink y' goin'?" He smirked. "Remy's comfortable chere."

"Ah'll bet...but we gotta get thaht book if yah evah wanna be cured Cajun." She smiled at his attempt and saw him pout.

"Y' wanna ruin Remy's fun cherie?" He asked pouting again.

"No, Ah jus' wanna help yah." Rogue kissed him and automatically knew it was a big mistake because she was pulled right back into bed.

About an hour or so later they were perched on the couch neatly studying the book that Rogue had gotten from the library and then he found his book on the curse of his ancestors...or adoptive ones...

"Well Remy, Ah don' see a cure in here." She sighed. "This ain' tha original text is it sugah?"

"Non..." He replied sadly. "Mon pere has dat chere. Dere ain' no way Remy's goin' t' get it eit'er."

"Anybody yah trus'?" She asked.

"Oui, mon Tante Mattie...But Remy hasn' talked t' her in years." Sighing he got up and paced. "She may t'ink dat Remy be dead."

"Ah doubt thaht..." She sighed. "Nevah min'. Where is it?"

"Mannor, t'ird floor, blocked off room."

"Okay, thaht helps..." Then she flipped through the book again. "Wait, these two pages are stuck tagethah."

Placing a nail in between the two pages she separated them carefully, only to find that it was more than those two pages, it was four pages. The top entitled...Curse Potential, and Cure. Reading each part carefully, she learned the nature of the curse, how to complete it, and how to cure it. Remy looked over her shoulder and began to read...his eyes got wide when he read the cure.

"Remy's gotta be baptized?" He asked in a solem tone.

"Thaht's what it says swamp rat. "In order fo' tha curse ta be broken, tha holder mus' be baptized befo' sundown while he or she is in their human state." "

"Well, dat explains a lot." He sighed. "Well, y' know a place dis Cajun can get de holy treatment befo' sundown?"

"Yeah, mah brotha is a priest. He'll fix yah up."

It was the first time that Remy had ever set foot in the Sanctuary. Honestly it was an interesting place for him to be in. Looking around, he stopped to look at the pictures of a bald man, a gruff looking man, and a few others that he didn't quite know. Watching Rogue lead him to a door and knocking three times.

"Vell mein sister..." Said a German blue looking creature. "Hov are you?"

"Ah'm good Kurt. Can yah perform a babtizin' ceremony?"

"Ya, who iz it for?"

"Remy..." Rogue pointed at him.

"Come on in..." He smiled a toothy grin and they all followed.

Remy had felt strange after the baptism and ran his fingers absently through his oily wet hair. For a test he took the cross off his neck and for the first time he didn't have the urge to hurt anyone. He didn't hear voices, and he wasn't afraid to be with someone.

"Rogue..." He stopped her and looked into her bright green eyes. "T'ank y'."

"It wasn' a problem Rem." She smiled and looked into his deep glowing red on black eyes.

"Will y' marry moi?"

"Marry yah?"

"Oui. Please?" He took a velvet box out of his pocket and opened it. "Tante gave it t' me. She said t' save it fo' a special femme. An' dat femme be y' amour."

Her eyes began to tear and she smiled up at him..."Ah'd be honored."

Remy put the ring on the appropriate finger and kissed her soundly, glad to be human, glad to be alive, and glad to have found the one he loves.
