Distress Signal
At an abandoned factory in France five kids surrounded a monitor to a supercomputer. The kid at the keyboard had blonde hair and glasses. He was wearing a blue shirt, brown kahki’s and grey shoes. Standing on his right side was a boy with long spikey blonde hair that had a purple dot in the middle. He was wearing all purple with yellow shoes. Standing in the middle was a girl with shoulder length black hair. She was dressed in all black from top to bottom. Standing to her left was a boy with chocolate brown hair. He was wearing green from top to bottom and white tennis shoes. They were staring at a pink haired elf girl on the computer sceen.
“Ok Aelita it’s time,” said Jeremy.
“I’m in the tower now Jeremy,”said Aelita.
“I'm launching the anti virus now,” said Jeremy.
Jeremy put the anti virus disk in the CD drive. A box popped up on the screen and data streamed into the computer. Then a dialoge box popped up on the screen. It read, ‘Anti Virus installed.’
“Ok I’m going to fuse the anti virus with you and start up the materialization process,” said Jeremy.
Quickly typing Jeremy placed the anti virus in Aelita and started the materialization program. Everyone crossed their fingers as they waited. Seconds later another dialoge box popped up and it read, ‘Virus cured.’ Everyones eyes were fixed on the box. Then they all burst into cheering and patting Jeremy on the back.
“We knew you could do it Einstein,” said Odd as he patted Jeremy on the back.
The elevator doors opened to reveal Aelita standing there.
“Thank you Jeremy. Thanks to all of you,” said Aelita as she walked over to Jeremy and gave him a hug.
“GROUP HUG!” yelled Odd.
Odd nearly tackeld Jeremy and Aelita but soon everyone was hugging each other. Once the celebrating had stopped they all rode down to the room with the super computer in it. Once in the room everyone walked over to the shut off lever.
“Ok on three,” said Yumi.
Ulrich counted to three and they all pulled. The power drained from the supercomputer until Xana’s symbol faded to black.
“So long Xana and good riddense,” said Jeremy.
“Ok who’s up for some food?” asked Odd.
“Odd for once can you stop thinking about your stomach,” said Ulrich.
“Of course not, food is my primary sorce of sustincance,” said Odd.
“Wait did Odd just use a big word?” asked Yumi.
“Odd I didn’t know you had such a colorful vocabulary,” said Jeremy.
“Of course I do I studied,” said Odd.
Everyone then broke out into laughter.
“Come on Odd, everyone knows you won’t study,” said Ulrich.
“I know where he got it from,” said Aelita.
“Where?” asked Yumi.
“Some article on food in the paper,” said Aeltia.
“Oh yeah, that’s why you still have that year old paper under your bed,” said Ulrich.
Odd stared at Ulrich confused as everyone stifled their laughter. Eventually Odd figured out that Ulrich was only joking. They then left the factory and went back to school. Back in the scanner room something was wrong. During the gangs celebration Xana sent one of his creepers to earth. It started up the elevator and went down to the supercomputer and turned Xana back on. Xana was planning something, it was something big. For four years Xana sat in the factory building up his army. Early April of 2010 Xana was ready to send his call out to his home planet, Xanadu. The distress call was to be sten by a satelite that Xana was going to shoot off. But the only thing that kept him was Jeremy’s program that decets when a tower got activated. It took Xana one more week to crack the code and shut the program off. Finally he could lanch his satelite.
The satelite was made in the factory by the machines. He made a few more scipazoa's with one goal, and that was to bring in all the pieces necessary to build the satelite. On April fifteenth 2010 Xana launched his satelite into space bound for Xanadu. But something went wrong when the thrusters were lit. A short circuit in the computer made the satelite turn it's 'distress signal' on. The distress signal was supposed to have been activated when it was only three miles from Xanadu. But Xana didn’t worry about the US or French satelites picking up the signal because it was encrypetd in his language so only his people could understand it. He thought no one else was going to intercept the signal. But he thought wrong.
Away from the factory is Kadic, which had changed over the years. It started with an addition for a high school building and eventually ended up with a new gym and separate auditorium. Of course the cost of going to school there increased. Yumi's parents ended up sending her to a community highschool because of the high costs. Aelita had gotten real parents after the principle found out that Odd had made up her school information. The principle didn’t expell Odd but made him help Jim out around the school for one year. Jeremy and Aelita were both sent to a gifted school while Ulrich and Odd remained at Kadic. But that doesn’t mean they didn’t hang out on the weekends.
Over the years the gang had changed. Odd's hair was no longer in one big spike, instead it was shorter and in many smaller spikes. He still had his blonde hair and there was one purple spike in the front of his head. He also canged his color scheme from purple to black and red. Odd's matabolizm slowed down too and he ended up gaining a few pounds. Ulrich eventually got Odd into the after school work out program so Odd could loose the weight. Odd lost the weight and put on some muscle.
Ulrich had let his hair grow out a little and he put light blonde streaks through it. His clothes didn’t change much, he still wore green. But instead of having two green shirts he wore one dark green t-shirt. He still played for Kadics soccer team and studied martial arts. The principle opened up a martial arts club after school for Ulrich to teach other kids. Sissi, ofcourse, was always there. He also asked Yumi out two years ago and they've been going out ever since.
Yumi had grown out her hair and started to dress somewhat like Odd with the black and red clothing. She atteneds a high school not far from Kadic. She's still into singing and she has a private lessons teacher that helps her out on Wednesday's. Her parents are starting to take a liking to Ulrich and her little brother Hiroki doesn't tease her anymore about him.
Jeremy shortened his hair and got contacts. Instead of his blue shirt and Kahki pants he wore a plain grey t-shirt and blue jeans. Jeremy and Aelita have been going for a little over a year now. Aelita didn’t change her hair style but she did change her clothes. She has gone for the darker reds instead of pink. They're still the smartest people in their classes.
For the past week final exams have started and Odd has actually been studying. That is if you count him calling Jeremy or Aelita to get help with math and Physics. Kadic's final exams had just finished and the students had the rest of the day to themselves.
"Man those finals were hard," said Odd.
"I know, and I'm surprised you studied," said Ulrich.
"Well with Xana gone I have more free time, in fact I'll be right back," said Odd.
Ulrich watched as Odd walked over to a girl with shoulder length brown hair. She was wearing a pink t-shirt with the words Bad Girl writen across her chest in white and she was wearing black pants. Odd had been trying to go out with her for the past week and a half. Each time he would return with a sad look on his face. Ulrich walked over to the entrance gate. Yumi was already out of school and she promised to meet him.
"Sandra hi," said Odd as he walked over to her.
"Odd I said it once, twice, and about twenty times now. No I will not go out with you," said Sandra.
"Why not?" asked Odd.
"Listen Odd you're a great guy, and if I didn’t have my eyes on another boy I would go out with you. One of these days you're going to find a girl that will want to be with you," said Sandra.
"Do I have to do the funny lemon?" asked Odd.
Sandra started to laugh and her friend just stared at her confused.
"Don't even think about it Odd," said Sandra as she stopped laughing.
"What is the funny lemon?" asked her friend.
"It was a dance Odd made up last year at our end of the year dance," said Sandra.
"Yeah and it was a big hit too," said Odd.
"And you looked hilarious doing it," said Sandra.
"Now back to business," said Odd.
"No, Odd. Go back with your friend," said Sandra as she walked away.
Odd lowered his head and slowly walked back to Ulrich. When Odd looked up again he saw Ulrich talking to Yumi. Odd turned around and walked back to his dorm. He plopped down on his bed and waited for Kiwi to jump onto it. But then he remembered that Kiwi had died a year ago from a stomach infection. Odd was wondering if he would ever get a girlfirend. In a few short days he was going to find out.
