A year ago if you had asked me about love

I would have told you I didn't give a damn

Back then nothing mattered

I was going to live and die alone

That much I knew

Because I knew something

I knew I was a monster

No one could love a monster

Then you came into the picture

And changed everything

With that idiotic smile plastered on your face

That cheery disposition no matter what happens

And those compassionate words that you always spoke to me

Do you understand how unfair that is?

To speak to me so sweetly and smile at me so beautifully

It makes me start to think about things

Of which I have no right to think

That maybe even I, the monster,

Has a chance at love

You saw me and yet you didn't run

You were scared and you stayed with me

What's the matter with you?

Why do you do this?

Why do I love you?

I know I'm not worthy

I'm not worth your time

Yet you still call to me

And smile

Bring me joy and light up the darkness

I have so little time left before

It's just not fair

But I won't burden you anymore

I'll just enjoy what I have now

Because later I won't have that

I won't have you

Just the memory of that smile

And your words

And the idea that maybe

You could love me too
