Hot Chocolate
By cleojan5
A/N: It’s late at night and I just felt like writing a cute Neville/Luna fic since I’ve never written one before.

Bloody hell, thought Neville as his leg sank deeply into the sinking stair. Bloody hell. It was the middle of the night no one was around, and here he was with his leg stuck. He’d be here all night at this rate. Bloody hell.

He ran the ‘if onlys’ through his head. If only he hadn’t stepped on the stair, if only there was someone around, if only it wasn’t the middle of the night… But he had stepped on the stair, and there was no one around, and it was the middle of the night. He sighed and tried to get himself in a more comfortable position, hoping his feet and back wouldn’t ache too much when morning came.

“Oh, hello, Neville,” came a voice from behind him. He spun around to see Luna Lovegood standing a few steps above. She looked just like the always did; dreamy and unflustered. The only difference was that she wasn’t wearing her school clothes. She was wearing orange and green pajamas.

“Luna!” he said, startled, “What are you doing here?”

“Oh, I can’t sleep,” she said serenely, “I was just heading down to the kitchens to see if I could get some hot chocolate. What are you doing here?”

“I’m, I’m stuck,” he said, feeling stupid. “I couldn’t get into the common room, I forgot the password. I was going down to see if anyone from Gryffindor was in the library and could tell me the password.”

“I doubt anyone would be in the library at this hour,” she said, “It must be passed midnight.”

“Yeah, I guess so,” he said, feeling more and more uncomfortable.

“I’ve never met anyone on my way down here before.” She said unexpectedly, “I suppose it must have something to do with the Wrackspurts. There seemed to be a lot of them in the school today, we must have been semi-consciously driven down here by them.”

“Er, right…” Neville replied, “Um, do you think you could help me get out?”

“Oh, yes, of course,” she said, looking at him as though she had only just noticed he was stuck, “here,”

She tugged on his arm until he was able to free himself. With a gasp of air, Neville collapsed onto the stairs, his leg free.

“Thanks, Luna,” he said.

“You’re welcome,” she said.

“Well,” said Neville awkwardly, “I guess I’ll be seeing you later, then.”

“Yes, I’ll see you later.” She nodded, taking a couple steps down the stairs.

He just stood here, staring after her.

About halfway down she turned around and looked at him fixedly. “Would you like to come with me?” she asked.

“What?” he said, totally taken aback.

“Would you like to come with me,” she said again, “Down for some hot chocolate?”

“Oh,” he said, “Oh, sure.”

He made his way down the steps toward her. She smiled and together they made their way toward the kitchens.
